60D N00b question and point of frustration: I've "cleared all camera settings" and the only thing I've done is change the AF mode to AF Quick. Nothing I do will allow me to use the "AF Point" button for anything but zoom-in. The camera is in Manual Exposure "M" mode. I've been reading through the manual, which is not terrible, but it tends to leave out key information. Example: "press the AF button to change to AI Servo." Doesn't work if the LCD viewfinder is on, but no mention of this.
Great way to learn about EOS 60D, but it can be a little fast for "Newbies" like me. However, I am glad I found the series. Thanks ChristopherK this has been really helpful.
I recently bough my first dSLR camera, noob question... Is there a way you can have the display shown in 1:21 on the LCD screen? I wear thick glasses and prefer using the LCD screen to take pics instead of looking into the viewfinder, is this bad?
@Aiyoukim It's not possible to have the viewfinder screen on your LCD screen, but using features like live view, everthing shown on the viewfinder is found on the lcd screen as well. Looking at the screen makes it a little harder to balance, and is difficult to shoot when in bright daylight. They are two different tools, the viewfinder is more suited to rapid pace shots and the screen is more suited to composition. But, the LCD screen is helpful with portraits and video. Hope I helped (:
@gus305 I have 5d mark II, 7d, 50d and previously 20d. I tested my friend's new 60d with kit lens 18-135 and I also found the multi control dial to be not as good as previous eos d cameras. Just go to a store and check it out if u don't have the camera yet. Check out some review on the youtube and the net. The tilting screen is the greatest feature on 60d hands down.
@andrenj1970 I just asking because I had the choice between the 60D and the 7D and I opted for the 60D because of the LCD screen and they pretty much the same camera , 7D just take better pictures . This is my first Canon camera and I think I made the perfect choice for a semi-pro camera , totally love IT’s feature .
@gus305 u can't go wrong either really, 7d is just a different class....., weather sealed, more durable body, shutter mechanism 150,000 cycles, 8fps, dual digic chip etc. Most important is to invest in best glass: top zooms and some primes would be nice. Good luck with it. PS check my channel for videos and photography with the canons.
omg -_- i have this camera.. but it doesnt has all those options, or at least i can't find em :l

@nadicastillop Try setting it to "M" because some settings aren't available in the full auto mode.

I just got the 60D and i really like the new dial. It takes some getting use to but moving though menus and adjusting settings is super quick.

@andrenj1970 Well, this is Canon themselves talking about it, they wouldn't say anything bad about their own product.
cubeproduktion 1 year ago
@cubeproduktion of course not but it's good for them to know peoples opinion about it, nikon lately did a little better job with d7000.
andrenj1970 1 year ago
@andrenj1970 Well, the d7000 is newer so it would pretty much of course have better features but the 60D is okay
