  • Thanks for the comment and qustions. It works well enough to run as a show piece. The engine doesn't seem to get very hot in four or five minutes which is enough. The O ring piston system has been written up in Model Engine Builder Magazine and the pistons can be replaced easily and cheaply. Engines with O rings for pistons don't have much compression when turned by hand but develope much more when under power. The little blue water cooled upshur engine has O ring piston too.

  • Nice work, surprising that the cooling fins on the cylinder keep it cool enough to run any length of time. Wonder how long that "O"ring will last as a "ring" for the piston?

  • @Tinsby , I'm sold on rubber o-rings. The mini hit n miss bar-stock engine I make gets warmed-up everyday under a full load until the head boils a teaspoon of water. Going on 6 months now. I'm gonna change it when I get some time just to see what it looks like. Later, Rick.
