It is. He's criticizing him as writing "as if he were an unintelligent twelve-year-old American boy".
I think you're just a Palahniuk fan-boy that thinks he's some sort of literary god that should sit on a pedestal that renders him immune to all criticism, no matter how ill-informed.
I agree with you for the most part. Sure, his writing style isn't that great, but his plots are somewhat unique. By no means is he a "genius" as his fans seem to declare, but his books do deserve some positive recognition.
@CasualDude Unfortunately everything is how you look, how you fuck, how much you have which you really believe you should have... Otherwise you can't get the advantage of the same decaying organic matter. This is reality.. And Tyler tells in the credits that you sholud find a girl and never keep on the things that are nonsense. Don't let Chuck Palahniuk to make you so. He is selling the T-Shits of his novel: Survivor.. It's all going down man..Reality is concrete that is how you exist...
I feel like it's somehow less awkward to have a bro-crush on a gay dude. I have a bro crush on some guy who hung himself two years ago, shit's awkward when I explain that he's my role model.
Chuck Palahniuk writes books for people who don't like reading, which explains why the bulk of his fanbase is composed of disaffected teenagers. His books should be in the "Young Adult" section.
@jsuglia i'm a fan, but i sort of agree with you there. but if you're talking about fight club or his earlier works like invisible monsters or survivor, i'd stop you right there and tell you read them because's they're rightly placed as 'good'. his latest books, however, are like parodies of his earlier work - it's like telling a good joke over and over again and it aint funny anymore. As for Suglia, i think he's only bitter cuz everybody mistakes him for Palaniuk.
@jsuglia Get laid. Find a hobby. Dear god atleast leave your house. Stop trolling. Move out of your moms and get a fucken job you meat headed shit sack, virgin, pussy.
@scruffy688 I've read and own Fight Club, Choke, Invisible Monsters, and Haunted and love them all. I also recently picked up Pygmy and am reading that. Its awesome!
@jsuglia Say what you will. Home boy can write a book. And what the fuck have you written? Snob. Ha, what kind of loser watches interviews of authors they DON'T like?
I'm glad that he's finally coming straight out and admitting what whorish literature he makes. Chucky's a sweetheart but he personifies the writer as a prostitute like Charles Baudelaire pointed out.
Definitely not a genius, but a maverick at his craft.

@MrKoshka123 "Bukowski and palaniuk , - greatest writers of the world." If you were a sixteen year-old boy I wouldn't be surprised by that statement but your channel page says you're 29, which makes it rather sad. If you really do believe that Bukowski and "palaniuk" [sic] are the "greatest writers of [sic] the world," you either haven't read many novels or you have truly embarrassing, wretched taste.
Next to Charles Bukowski.....Chuck Palahniuk is the best author of our generation. I love Bukowski. Ham on Rye and Women are the 2 best books I have ever read. But Fight Club, Choke, Diary and Lullaby are very very close 2nd's and so on. Actually I can;t say Bukowski is my favorite, at least not my only favorite.....Both Bukowski and Palahniuk together would have to be my favorite authors. They are just genius'
I just finished "Invisible Monsters", now before you judge me - don't forget this is the second Chuck Palahniuk book I've read (the first being "Choke" which I loved); but "Invisible Monsters" ranks to be the most unbearably and horrifically grotesque, deeply and bitterly repulsive book I've ever read. But I had to finish it, primarily because I initially stopped halfway, because I found it too intolerable - but again apparently not.
what the hell is this interview, spending the first 3 minutes of the interview laughing at his own jokes and interrupting chuck talking about porn and apple and nike and laughing like a hyena
I wish he would've spoke more about Tell All.. I never thought I'd be a fan of any reading, but years ago he converted me. I just need to put down Haunted, Stranger Than Fiction, Pygmy (which I'm dreading) and then Tell All!
@MyEggIsBoiled "I never thought I'd be a fan of any reading, but years ago he converted me." Thanks for proving my point... Guys, just get a library card and do a little exploring. If you think Palahniuk and Bukowski are geniuses let me assure you there's a whole world of fiction out there that's going to truly blow your mind.
He is gay. For real, he is into guys (hence the bigotry comment). BUT regardless of any prejudices, he develops some great stories. They are a bit difficult to read at times, but still very interesting.
@AboutTommie Agreed totally. I absolutely love watching interviews with Chuck. He has an awesome personality and has a great and very hilarious sense of humor. Good Guy. Great fucking writer
Why didn't the interviewer do his research? "do you have female groupies?" He's fucking gay! Awkward!
