Hi Remy, in Holland we eat raw herring with chopped onions. It's quite nice, probably tastes better than creamed herring (brrr I would never try that)! My husband is Australian and I had him try raw herring, he didn't mind the taste but said it had a very slimy texture :)
@peace36660 ug! every thing i want to try is illegal or impossible:) i said i wanted to try fugu and someone said it is you have to be 18. i have 8 more years!! casu marzu i dont know why it is illegal!
they were both bad but it was hakarl for sure. the whole house smelled like rotten shark for hours and my sister ran to her room:) and the taste was like rotten urine would smell like!.
my dad shoots hte video and put it online but i eat all the food and think of what to say and i write back to people on youtube. and i dont cook all alone i have help:)
Hiya! I'm from Scotland, and cured herring is really quite popular here (I love it, its yummy). Like ChibiC, I've never seen creamed herring either. XD
Try cured herring, or even rollmops which is cured herring rolled up kinda like sushi with onion in the middle. ^^
hi! I think you're the first person i've ever talked to from Scotland. is cured herring sour or more smokey? i've never heard of rollmops before but from the sound of it i think I would likeit!! :)
Cured herring is more sour, as its essentially pickled fish. Sounds weird, but tastes great. I think you'd like rollmops, they're interesting!! Best cured herring comes from the Orkney Herring Company (in case you want to try in future). ^^
Have you tried surströmming? It's basically herring that has been allowed to get to the verge of rotting.

Raw herring is the best. You should really try to get your hands on a herring and have it the dutch way :)
I'm sure there is some stuff on youtube about dutch herring so you can check it out. Keep up the good work.

Well, I don't know if they would taste the same, so I can't answer that.
