Word 2007 - Changing the Default Font and Lining Space

this does not work when creating new word file from quick step from the desktop. i mean: on the desktop, right click, choose new file of word, you open, and it is still Calibri font. why your method does not work for this?

Thank you so much for this! I couldn't figure out how to do this for the life of me, though I knew it was possible! The default format of Word 2007 was enough to make me want to switch back to 2003.
