This song into its beat is completely much more irish background. In USA, many people are very ignorant when they listen some tunes in acoustic because they are hard believers that everything is country pop. A great thing of the 60s and 70s is that both decades were highly intellectual into its musical output even in disco.
@Selinja ........And where the Otter raised his head , There will be a clean white skull instead......
So at the end the Otter died too......
Verry interesting how Albert Hammond put this verry Sad story in a ,,Happy,, beat. I think his vision how to reach mankind was way ahead of its time....BRILLIANT !!!
Where is the time...? Everyone (or nearly everyone) in the early 70*ies was singing loud and clear this happy song from Albert Hammond! Thanks for sharing!
i was born in the 90ies but when i listen to music like that i think the world was better in the 70ies. it sounds so happy (even though the lyrics aren´t really happy) i love it
singing live, and you can barely tell the difference from the studio version until the end - a true talent. why can't more so called music stars sing "properly" live when people have paid good money to see them?
This was the first song I tried to learn by ear when I was ten years old sitting in front of a radio. I couldn't nail it because I couldn't understand his words as I am from Germany. And as I still was not able to finger some minor-chords I soon gave it up and never heard this song any more for 30 years. Then I learned to play and sing it and found out: This is one oft the best songs of the seventies. I like you, Albert!
I've been looking for this song for 28 years, now I found it. It remember's me my home and my family especially my sister, we loved this song. It was our song and it still is.
Always this balderdash about global warming. Long time before Al Gore's hype about climate change there were a lot of people concerned about nature and environment. For example "The Club of Rome" was founded in 1968.
actually this is not the kind of songs i prefer - as this is not the kind of music that my generation listens to - however i really like this one. great music :D
thank you! this is one of my favourite Albert Hammond songs..does anyone have a vid of 'These are the good old days' btw? I did see him live in 75..excellent.
Albert had many good songs, not all of which got airplay. In a very odd move, his Greatest Hits album had 20 songs on it(10 on each side)... a rare feat for a vinyl album. Then again, I did buy it overseas... in Japan (Okinawa to be specific)
Great Song and one of the first against water pollution!
