  • WARRRRRRRIORRRRRS! COME OUT TO PLAY

  • light up a fatty

    and watch some buster keaton!

  • THOSE WERE THE GOOD OLD DAYS.....

  • This silent film, like almost all of the ones we see today, is most likely presented at the wrong speed. I'm not blaming anyone who posts these old films. Silent films were, ostensibly, recorded at 16 frames per second, while modern sound films were (and >are<) recorded at 24 fps. That's why silent movies look so frantic and unnatural. Except, "some scenes were intentionally undercranked during shooting to accelerate the action—particularly for comedies and action films." (Wikipedia).

  • hey mac lets get a lemonade

  • Just because it wasn't proven doesn't mean he didn't do it, of course it doesn't mean he did. OJ was found not guilty but you know he did it.

  • Love to see these early Keaton shorts. We all owe Arbuckle a big debt of gratitude for helping Buster out in the beginning and getting him started.

Also, it's cool to see how these early comedians borrowed each others gags. Fatty's ticket joke at 3:20 makes an appearance in Buster Keaton's "The Cameraman" years later.

  • This stuff is a hoot. Nearly a century later and they still have only produced a handful of films that are as funny and clever as this. Fatty > John Belushi

  • 00:48 Buster smiling?!?!

  • I want to go back and live in 1917!

  • What would this look like in blu ray? XD

  • silent film

  • its so funny i nearly wet myself lol :]

  • At 1:05, Fatty looks like a morbidly obese Leonardo Dicaprio.

  • @jimbrown257 Or is it that De Caprio looks like a skinny Faffty Arbuckle?

  • Man, I would have loved to party with Fatty Arbuckle.

  • Thank God they're rebuilding Luna Park! They really let the park go to crap, glad to see theyre keeping the Wonder Wheel, Cyclone and the parachute jump tho, keep some of that old timey feel to it loll

  • luna park is being "rebuilt" thank god for those who still cherish history unlike the hated Joe Sitt, i seriously cannot wait for summer 2010 which means the rebirth of everything good and pure in my most cherished childhood memory neighborhood, coney island

  • These Guys Really Took A Beating When They Made These Films, They Risked Their Lives Making Some Of These Pictures. Just About All Comedy Actors Today Are Pussies Compared To These Actors, All Except Chris Farley Who Was Gonna Play Fatty If Only He Lived. He Would've Been In The New Sandler/ Rock Movie. Kevin James Is O.k But He Doesn't Hold A Candle To Farley. RIP Chris, The World Isn't Funny Anymore With You Gone

  • I wish i could have lived during these times!!!

  • That guy had more chins than the Beijing telephone directory

  • 3:53 Buster Keaton looks like Hugh Grant.

  • Thank you for this video, a treasure of places long gone and way of life long over, hope it returns one day.

  • wonderful to see this old "documents"

  • closest to utopia we'll ever get

  • Exactly how are you going to get there? Do you have a time machine?

  • Great shot of them riding the water ride! Great motion shot!

  • is that edna purviance? it's too bad Charlie never did a short with these guys. what a trio they would of made !

  • I've never seen anything like that "Witching Waves" ride. Has anyone seen anything like it?

  • interesting

  • 3:45 just like a hoe...thats one tradition thats endured the test of time...

    where the black people?

  • @elcurly117 They hadn't been invented!

  • Picking cotton and eating watermelon.

  • 1917!...my Lord! 5/5

  • This movies are time capsules of an gone era and also damn hilarious." The ching Wave" thing looks great! what a pity, that it's all lost. :-/

  • very good short! it´s the first time I see Buster Keaton LAUGHING! at 07:42

  • Whenever I watch these types of movies (extremely rare occasion), I always think "every living thing that was in this film is now dead. The dust from their bones is probably long gone."

I like this Fatty character though, mostly because of what he went through in his career. He was the Chris Farley/John Candy/John Belushi of his time, and the whole murder scandal (he didn't do it) just adds to my interest.

ROFL at the rides they had back then. Total death traps, but must've been very fun.

  • @CrazyCleatus420 some of these people could easily have still been alive into the 1970s

  • theres a great book called I fatty. It's about roscoe "FATTY" Arbuckel.

  • no they accused him of murder, what really happened is he kicked her in the stomach when she was tickling him, but she had a diseased bladder, and so it killer her, but he was tried for murder and rape

  • @koji8123

thats not even close to what happened. She had an infection from an illegal abortion, and was still recovering when she was forced to go to the party by her female pimp. Arbuckle literally had nothing to do with her death, he didn't lay a hand on her.

  • lol aww buster was crying =0 x

  • That was pretty good.

  • Messed up what happened to Fatty. He was ruined by a lying wench and an unscrupulous DA. This was one of his best shorts, though. It's not in this clip, but later on in this film, Buster becomes a life guard and does a mean standing backflip. He was athletic as hell.

  • Great to see Buster Keaton in this, that would have been awesome to see Chris Farley as Roscoe, the Hollywood execs should pursue this idea with an actor like Jack Black.

  • For a wonderful book on Coney Island, read Joseph Heller's autobiography, "Now and Then". Heller, (the author of Catch-22) grew up in Coney Island, and he writes a beautiful book on what it was like to live there in the twenties , thirties and forties. You'll feel like you were there, back in the day.

  • Seriouly, what happened to all these rides, and attractions that Coney use to have? why was it taken down?

  • They just gradually got replaced by "bigger-and-better" rides. Can you imagine some of these today, though? In our sue-crazy society, amusement parks would go bankrupt!

  • Have you been to Coney island in the past wk? it looks HORRIBLE! HOOOORRRIBBBLLLLEEEE

  • Blame Thor Equities and Joe Sitt for what you saw in Coney, Please don't let first impressions scare you from Coney. Give Coney time She'll come around again. Unless Joe Sitt builds a Mall. Come down and Join me in Coney Friday Night, watch the fireworks and feel that old time Magic.

  • We shall see

  • @dutchmazz Love Coney so much, been many times to NY in summer, each time I go there I can smell the magic of the past, imagine a new future for Coney. Something is moving positive, is it ?

  • @Amaranth

Seriouly (Seriously), Luna Park was destroyed by fires in 1944. It wasn't rebuilt. I wish I could have seen it.

    F Brep

  • Remember that time at Coney Island? It was 1904 and you weren't wearing any shorts, and you peed on the gypsy woman while she took a break from reading palms, and we smoked Dutch Halman cigarettes by the penny machines........good times.

  • ur dead

  • Redd Foxx once said that Fatty Arbuckle wrote the 1st radio commercial

    THINGS GO BETTER WITH COKE

  • That Witching Waves ride @ like 5:00 looks really fun. haha

  • Beyond being f'ing stupid, you are f'ing sick. Please shut up and let more intelligent people enjoy these movies.

  • Okay, DUMBASS, he did not rape and kill her. If you actually knew anything about Arbuckle and the case you wouldn't be saying such things.

  • Been a huge Keaton fan for 15+ years but have never gotten around to seeing him & Fatty. Thanks for the post.

  • i been to coney island lots of times in the summer

  • 8:01 ROFL at the Water Chute xD

  • When will i marry and have a happy home? "aint no such animal". LOL. thank you so much for posting this, there's something so sad and wonderful about footage pre-1935.

  • lol the "witching waves", i've see footage of some of the rides they used to have at coney island. liability would prevent most of them today.

  • Reminds me of black eye griffin

  • fatty corpuscle

  • Who's the actor who plays the guy that's not Buster or Roscoe, the "old friend"?

  • He is Al St. John. Was in many of these comedies.

  • Aha! I read 'Tempest In A Flat Hat' so I am aware of him, just never seen a picture of him. I should have put two and two together, really! Thanks for the info.

  • Wow...I have heard alot of stories about cony island...I heard that Steeplechase was just amazing!

  • Thanks for the video post!!
