  • I've always wanted to try candle making, I'm definily going to now! This seems very easy :) Thank you for sharing !! ^,..,^

  • I made my first candles yesterday. Your three videos helped me tremendously (I watched them twice and took notes as i listened so I'd have a guide while I made them). I'll try a taller pillar next time. Thank you for uploading! Blessed Be!

  • i have similar candle molds and they say the bit you say is the bottom is acshully the top :) so the bit you messed up on, thats the bottom which it stands on! :)

  • It seems to me that you put your finished upside down? The bottom of your candle looks great. I would set it upside down...

  • came out so pretty =)

  • Thanks for the great video...

  • I want to make soy candles now, Do you use the same kind of dye that you use with paraffin candles?

  • Actually, I made a candle a few weeks ago using paraffin dye. It worked but I would try what you have there on a small batch to see if it works.

  • this video is very helpfull .. I just got the mold ( 3" x 9.5") .. started making my first pillar candle yesterday , just got done filling in the little bubble .. can't wait till tomorrow to see how it comes out .. I think you should make a 4th video , on how to add color to the wax .. I tried to make some smaller red candles , and they came out peach like in color .. lol .. oh-well ... Blessed Be ..

  • It's a trial and error for the color. I made a black candle for a friend and had to use half a bottle of black to get it dark enough. The trick is that you get a piece of white paper and smear a bit on it. Let it cool and you will see the color of the wax when it is cooled.

  • If it is not dark enough add more color if it is to dark add more wax.

  • Thank you Mr. Wiccan, well done, I shall try to attempt to make my own candles soon...Ill let u know how it goes ,,,hehe. :)

  • I LOVED these vids George. Just ordered some soy wax yesterday! I have a ton of herbs and oils lying around that I can never think of anything to do with, since I do so much candle magick instead... doi. I should've thought of candle-making sooner. xD

Ever try using auto-wick pins that fit in the bottom of the mold to make the wick holes? I would think maybe the hole in the middle would lessen the chance of getting a big hole in the top... I dunno, I'm unpracticed in this arena x3

  • Thanks. I haven't tried them but I have seen them. I need to get some sometime and try them becuase it might make it easier. Let me know how it goes!

  • BTW, my next project is organic hand creams. I have the materials needed and I will be making my first batch this weekend. Once I got it down I will do a video on it. Just not as long as this one. :)

  • Sounds awesome! Can't wait to see how it's done.

  • I think I got bad wax, because no matter what I do it cracks. Tried pouring at lower temps, still cracked. Tried warming the containers first, still... tried a gradual cooling process, still cracked. However, I JUST made a batch of altar ointment today using the soy wax, EV olive oil and essential oils and it's *perfect!* Has the consistency of lip balm.

  • Oh! Did you get the pillar wax? Mine has never cracked on me. Glad the ointment worked out.

  • Yep, I got pillar wax... not from the same site you did though, it's a different brand. Naturewax or some such. I guess I should have went with your link instead of hunting on my own x.x

  • I always thought I was getting that hole on the top b/c I was doing something wrong. Thanks for making this video :)

  • thanx for sharing :) now i want to make candles too :O

  • I went to the website for the text version of the video and there were not any instructions. Can you advise? TY

  • The link is in the info section at the top right of the video. Click on more and it shows more info. The link is in there.

  • great videos. They answered alot of my questions about soy wax. My wife is

Wiccan and she got into candle making to make her own ritual candles. Thank you. Blessed Be.

  • Can I ask is daggers could to have as a wiccan and what are they good for?? I am new to the wiccan law.. I am kind of Unitarian is what they call my kind of church I go to..

  • The dagger is a ceremonial tool in Wicca. When used as such it is referred to as an athame. Traditionally it has a black handle and is double edged but that is not required. In ritual it is used to direct energy, draw symbols in the air or ground, command spirits and in the casting of a circle. Some use it to also cut herbs and to inscribe objects. Others prefer to use another white handled knife with or without a curved blade to do that. The one with a curved blade is referred to as a boline.

  • Cool... I use the liquid as well. I just wondered what u liked using too.

    Thanks~

  • thanks for the Video!

I liked it and It was informative...

Do u tint/Color ure candle wax? and if so what do u use to color it??

  • Yep, I use an organic wax dye. I prefer the liquid to the solid blocks. I get them from the same place I buy the wax. The link is in the info section to the right.

  • Thank you for such a great instructional video on soy wax candle making. Where do you get the tools from (such as the candle molds and the wax melting pot)? Also, how come you don't have to melt the wax in a double boiler?

  • Sorry for the delay. YT hasnt been sending me messages about new comments. I bought my molds and melting pot from AC Moore. It is a craft store. Most craft stores should sell them. There are different ways of melting the wax. Some are even microwaveable. However, I think it is better to melt them on a stove because you can control the temperature.

  • i'm making a project for my school and i decided to make a candle and carve the design i want and fill it up with some different collor wax... i have a question... (i've never done any candle before so i'm a little aprehensive..) so how can you fill it up safely without burning yourself? and it's a candle with parafin and i really REALLY don't want to get burned because i've herad that it is a very nasty burn!

  • Are you planning on carving the mold or the candle then fill in what you carved out with a different color wax?

  • i want to carve the candle and then fill it with other different color wax.. but i'm afraid i might get burned! and i've already made my candle.. and i prepared the mold with solid vaseline, so to take it out was a bit difficult.. it helped but my candle was a bit broken after that

  • I do not work with that type of wax, but I do believe there is a spray that is recommended that keeps the wax from sticking. Are you carving out the center or patterns on the outside? If the center then there are molds for that but if you cant get them then put it back into the mold and pour the new wax in what you carved out. Let it cool slightly before pouring so that the whole thing doesnt melt Make sure to plug the whole in the bottom of the mold. It will either work or not.

  • If you are filling in patterns on the candles surface that is very difficult and tedious and as far as I know there are no molds. I remember seeing someone using an eyedropper to fill the patterns and then scraping the excess off when it cooled. Anyway you look at it there is a chance to get burned but if you are careful you shouldnt.

  • ok.. thank you so much anyway :)

  • Tht was truly wonderful Neo! I can no make my own candles and they'll smell good to :)

The tips you made while waiting for it to cool down are also very usful! I never new that frankinsence and myrrh were the oils of the goddess and the god, but which ones belong to the god and goddess?

    Blessed Be!

  • Frankinsence = Male

    Myrrh = Female

  • Yep.

  • Rad! I so want to start making my own candles, now! By the way, we have the same stove.

  • Thank you for posting this! I've never made my own candles before, but now I'm inspired to give it a try. Blessed Be.

  • Awesome! Great instructions! I can't wait to try it out sometime, once I gather all the materials. Blessed Be!

  • so many skills i have now learned and now i can do what u do my friend even tho i will not as good right away mmmhhaahhh

  • If you wanted to make it a certain color, when would you add the color and what would you use? For example, would food coloring be ok?

  • Thanks for the awesome videos! I'd like to try candle making sometime.. :)

  • Your welcome. It can be fun once you get the hang of it.

  • Ironically, I just now got into candle making with one of my Wicca Students. We made some white candles, and some red ones that smelled like cinnamon [so more for success than anything]. It was a fun time, and your energies are so invested, they seem more "powerful" if you will. Blessed Be, great video

  • Thanks! Yeah, it can be a lot of fun and the candles have your energy in them because of the effort involved. Was your kit the regular wax or organic like soy and beeswax?

  • I bought normal wax that was for glass holders, because I was pouring them directly into votive cups I had.

I am posting a video soon on this subject too. It is kind of crazy too, but I hope it will be good.

  • I'm sure it will be good! I can't wait to see it. The more info there is out there the better.

  • thank u so much! ive been thinking about making my own candles... one question, i thought that when the candle finishes the top becomes the bottom of the candle and the bottom becomes the top of the candle?

  • I thought that too before I started making them, but no. If you want the top perfectly flat then you can heat up a pan and put the top part on it and hold it there until it goes flat. I tried that once and it was a pain. I stick the homemade looking top of the candle. :)

  • This was a very good series. You need to hook me up w/ the microwavagle wax and show how to use that. Thanks. Oh, btw, is charcoal, the regular kind you'd buy at the grocery store, organic?

  • Thanks, I will get some and show everyone how to make the microwave candles. In reference to the charcoal, are you referring to the stuff used to burn incense?

  • BB,thank you for posting.I have been wanting to make candles for a few months now.

  • Your welcome. Thanks for watching! :)
