Military recruiters were always on my high school and in my college in Seattle. One day, 300 of us just got fed up and we chased them off!

I love these guys, and Good News Bad News is awesome, but I didn't like how the album crossed over into political stuff. I almost feel like they're too good to be writing songs like this, as amazingly catchy as it is. Really, my cousin's joining the Air Force, and it's helping him get work and college education that he couldn't have afforded without enlisting.

They aren't putting down military service, They seam, to me anyway, to be commenting on the fact that many kids are recruited that may simply have been convinced (Not necessarily by the recruiter) that they have no other options. These kids have lives and friends and certainly other places to go, and many will suffer and/or die because of it. Its a great song talking about a very valid truth. Kids are recruited, go to war, and die.

Eh, maybe I wasn't clear in my first comment. I was talking about how my cousin got recruited, but it wasn't necessarily a bad thing for him as of yet. I can relate, though, because I hardly see him as it is, and now he's leaving for the Air Force to be stationed God knows where. Just like you said, he has friends and places to go, but I certainly feel like he took it as a last resort that really wasn't his only choice.
