Ugh had to take this cause my sister is afraid of flying...I guess if you got your own sleeping cabin it's a worthwhile venture but being confined to a seat for 17+hours is no way to travel for me...not great food unless you are willing to pay a little bit more for some cheap pizza...also the "in-flight " movies when I went were the Justin Bieber documentary and Gnomeo and JUliet... I recommend getting your own snacks and entertainment prior to this trip. SOme scenic stuff in VA through .

The auto train is a GREAT idea if it were a little more cost effective. almost 1000$ round trip for 1 car and 2 people. COACH!!

most of the time your car is loaded within minutes after you drop your car off but there should be enough time to walk over to the car boarding area and watch it. once it is in the car that is the last time you can see it until it is unloaded at the other end of the trip.

@TheNjdevils11 WHEN THEY SAY "CARS MUST BE THERE BY 3:00PM, ALL OTHER VEHICLES BY 2:00PM,, THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT THEY MEAN. IF YOU ARE NOT THERE BY THAT TIME, YOU WILL NOT BE GOING ON THE TRAIN. THEY START ACCEPTING VEHICLES AT 11:30AM. BE THERE EARLY6 SO YOU CAN WATCH THE ENTIRE PROCESS. YOU WILL HAVE A FANTASTIC TIME. ENJOY YOUR TRIP!!!

@BUSDRIVER5532 trip was great the train going northbound that was scheduled to arrive in lorton the day i left didnt get into the station till like 12 so me and my dad thought our train would be delayed but it wasent we left at 4:03 and we got into sanford at 8 am thought we would be late leaving and arriving lol but no but all in all the trip on the auto train was nice i would definitly do it again

@TheNjdevils11 IT IS RARE THAT TRAIN IS LATE. I HAVE TAKEN IT AT LEAST 20 TIMES AND HAVE ONLY EVER BEEN LATE ONE TIME. THEY FREQUENTLY ARRIVE EARLY. THEY CAN'T GET INTO THE ARRIVING STATION BEFORE 8:00AM BECAUSE THE CREW THAT UNLOADS THE CARS DOESN'T START WORK UNTIL 8:00AM. ISN'T IT REALLY A GREAT TRIP?

Depends on the amount of people that are in line. But you should have time to get over to the side and watch it be put in and take the picture. You can always do that before going into the station to get your tickets.
