Why respect belief in God, when his supporters go out of their way to quench those who live their lives differently? It may have been created for the praise of God. More likely, on face value, it was created for the composer and artistes to show off their" God given" talent, which is of less virtue,though more human. It is certainly used for that purpose .

Try thinking about it without being so snobbish .Try not to take such a snob's view point to make your point. i don't think he's full of himself at all.  he's very affable and down to earth in the interviews that i've seen. he's classically trained, that's how he stands and how he breathes and how he sings these types of songs. it's very restrained and respectful in light of the sacred tone of this song.
