  • Great singer accompanied by the greatest organist. Bravo.

  • He's a thousand times more handsome with a beard.

  • Nice recording thanks for posting

  • @tonganfoilole69 It was actually composed by a Lutheran for the Lutheran church and was later used by other faith groups.

  • This beautiful song was composed and 1st used by the catholic church, then other religion start singing it too....

  • I Love How You Singed It And How You Played It

  • wow...masha Allah!!!! super ! bravo ! bellissimo!!!! its like the angels singing for our almighty God!!!

  • I thought this was a young Michael Douglas singing for a moment... Alfie is amazing. His performance in the 25th Anniversary of Les Mis was spectacular. Plus, he seems to be a really decent man. Wish the world had more like him, and I wish I could sing like him, just for a day...

  • the problem is that people related god to a person, a human being, but i prefer call god all the things that we do not know, at science light!!!

  • this was the best version i saw in youtube!

  • Wow, my three favorite instruments together; Alphie Boe, Oboe, and Pipe organ. So beautiful

  • What a beautiful rendition.

  • I almost didn't recognize Alfie based on his looks, but his voice is distinctive! :)

  • I'm not being snobbish but making a point , but there are times when a firm clear voice without constant wobble is called for .

  • This being

    Alfie Boe warbles a bit.

Sorry , you'l have to look it up on YouTube yourself, it wont let me post the link.

  • Brenniman65 Alfie is international opera star, and an all round nice chap. If you think he is so full of himself you should look at this, and have your eayes opened.

  • It's difficult to understand how someone can be an atheist after hearing Bach.

  • @TheArsenalfc101 Is it? Try Hrder to understand then.

  • @thirlestanelodge2 Another angsty atheist....

  • @TheArsenalfc101 No , I have no anxiety. I need no faith to lean on like a frightened child. If I am wrong, then it will all be a nice surprise. If you're wrong then you have nothing. I will know, according to your beliefs, you won't according to mine.

Do try harder to understand. Try harder not to be unthinking and not to be rude. God will like that.

  • @thirlestanelodge2 Alright then respect his beleifs and don't refer to God in a sarcastic mannner. Now please shutup and enjoy the music or get off seeing as how this song was created for the praise of God.

  • @F430Pista If I may be ALLOWED,it is no surprize, that one who appears to be a fan of God, wishes to "shutup" any contrary thought. How rude. Why respect belief in God, when his supporters go out of their way to quench those who live their lives differently? It may have been created for the praise of God. More likely, on face value, it was created for the composer and artistes to show off their" God given" talent, which is of less virtue, though more human. It is certainly used for that purpose .

  • @TheArsenalfc101 i am an atheist and i adore bach. beauty doesn't prove the existence of god; it proves the existence of beauty... and since beauty depends on perception, it rsally doesn't even prove that. nonetheless, this is beautiful, VERY beautiful, and i'm still an atheist.

    g

  • @genesssa Did you just say that you think you really liked somethng but that you can't prove it?

  • @joshandm lol nope! reread, please, wrong on two accounts. 1. i didn't say i really liked something but can't prove it; i directly said beauty doesn't prove the existence of god and less directly said that beauty is a matter of perception. then i stated what my perception was. 2 whatever i said, i didn't JUST say it; i said it four months ago :-))

    g

  • If he didn't wobble every note his voice would be so much better .

  • @jimbo5009 Snobbish thing to say.

  • @thirlestanelodge2 no it isnt. its just a fact. Alfie Boe is still a fantastic singer, just not in Baroque music.

  • @leporello56 Exactly what a snob would say. There are more ways of killing a cat than the only one you know. You don't have to like it, but you won't be liked if you pour scorn on others enjoyment. Try thinking about it without being so snobbish .Try not to take such a snob's view point to make your point. One doesn't have to sing just the way snobbish people think it should be, or even surmise it may have been sung originaly. Snobbs love that sort of thinking. Go and listen to someone else

  • @thirlestanelodge2 i'll give ya snobishness!!! he never said he was a bad singer nor did i, in fact i'm quite a fan of his. yes it does sound nice but TECHNICALLY it should be sung with less vibrato. soYOU'R the snob, as you obviously just want an argument. do not accuse when you dont no, sunshine

  • @leporello56 I think you mean , that I don't "know" as, "do not accuse when you dont no, sunshine" makes no sense. I am sure you know that ,and it is an honest mistake,as is leaving out the apostrophy in " don't "; that you're not ignorant , though ignorance is no disgrace, remainig so is. I advise you to apply that to the rest of your reasoning, then things may become clearer to you . Please don't call me " sunshine", which should have had a capital S, as I am sure you also know.Temper?

  • @thirlestanelodge2 I like you :-) That is all.

  • Beautiful - thank you for sharing. Lance †

  • Very beautiful, Very Sacred, as it should be sung. Soloist, has a outstanding beautiful voice. My. congratulations on your projection and quality.

  • Beautifully sung Alfie... and the Oboe sounds really lovely too... :0)x

  • Nice clarinet,

is this a clarinet? some says its an onoe

Great voice, not as harsh as the pure tenor

  • Oboe.

  • i don't think he's full of himself at all. he's very affable and down to earth in the interviews that i've seen. he's classically trained, that's how he stands and how he breathes and how he sings these types of songs. it's very restrained and respectful in light of the sacred tone of this song.

  • Where is this from?

    Who are the performers?

  • I'm not sure where it is, but the singer is a guy called Alfie Boe. He went from being a car mechanic to Opera singing, and is a Roman Catholic

  • makes one happy to be a friend of god

  • @rocksoliddude1 and makes one happy to be a friend of Dorothy. Alfie is GORGEOUS.

  • @rocksoliddude1 and God won't be very happy with His friends , when they dont use the correct grammar for His name.

  • wowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowow that is good

  • The lead singer looks like he's a little full of himself

  • yea but he's good though

  • =D agreed!

  • Ware was this Recorded

  • Oh wow. Hearing that oboe and a trained voice singing this song really takes me to another place.
