  • No no they weren't bad, I just meant that I liked this a lot. What I wanted to know was where I could get the music you posted on your myspace, like is it available for download or?

  • Sorry about I misunderstood you :) I don't have anything available for downloading all the songs have not been recorded or mixed properly... They were done very rough. Once I get round to laying down the tracks and mixing them I might make them available for download.

    Thanks for the kind words.

    Cheers, Dan

  • I went on your myspace, and I thought it was well produced. I can't say I like the music as much as I liked this. This sounds really nice, and this is probably a lot of other people's songs. I couldn't even hear this in your myspace songs. :(

  • Thanks for taking the time to check them out anyway. Cheers, Dan.

I for myself started playing the guitar 2 years ago and was pretty much into acoutic-slideblues and found your vid at youtube and i still watch it sometimes... i especially love this "deep" first slide into the subdominant where you contrast the high notes from the beginning; sound so cool and nasty :D

can you tell me what's your guitar brand&model?

  • Hey thanks for the kind words, buddy. This guitar is a National Delphi Deluxe... it is indeed a magic tone.

  • what tunning are you in?

  • Hi there, in open G for this one.

    ofcourse, TV-Mama!

  • Thanks, and yes open G for this one. Cheers.

  • damn that sounds good nice playing

  • Cool buddy. Like a lot. Very Robert Johnson-ish, and that's saying something. You should be proud

  • Simply, Beautiful. It gives me a lot of images in my head about the old days of Blues, and the great era of Robert Johnson.

  • Do you do any live performances... any local joints still play this kind of classic music?

  • Yes I play live.. Around where I live (Wellington, New Zealand) there's a few small pockets of bars/cafe's that have traditional music like this.. but not a lot :)

  • nice starting to learn slide takes lots of practise no any ooks for good tabs?

  • Hey sorry I don't. I was mainly self taught with the help of a good mentor. Listen to people like Son House, R Johnson, Bukka White etc... Cheers.

  • just close your eyes and listen... sounds just like an old record- play them blues man!

i was thinking of stuff i had seen in old movies where its showing prisoners working in the sun all chained together

  • Did I spot a bit of Son House in there?

  • hi just to say i love this music and style of guitar i too are trying to play this and harmonica to be honest we dont see any of this music on the streets if i could play like you my dream would to busk and get this music out there and show people that john lee hooker and all the great blues players still live on excelent. i did see a guitar like yours well it looked the same if was definitly a slide guitar same body and all i wish i had brought it i also play classical thanx bluesrout66

  • I agree, but main stream pop is always going to be shoveled down our throats as long as it sells. Maybe it's kind of nice that you actually have to look to find this real music.. makes it that much more worth the effort. Cheers.

  • really really goood

  • Thanks, appreciate it.

  • omfg that so good! plz make a vidio on how!!! plz!!plz!!! that so cool sounding and everything omg thats awesome

  • that nuts can u make a video show how to play it!

  • Great stuff, i really enjoyed it, .... it has a hint of Sittin' on Top of the World in it as well.

    5 stars

  • Thanks :)

  • not a good quality camera but awesome video!!!

  • Whats the songs name?

  • tabs plz

  • Don't have TABS, its all in my head. But you can find them on the net. It's a kind of medley as I said - First song is 'Come On In My Kitchen' and then it kinda goes into 'Death Letter'.

  • man really good :) damm nice playing :)

  • if i close my eyes i can really hear the robert johnson influence...keep up the good work..what guitar are you playing

  • Thanks for the kind words. The guitar is a National Delphi Deluxe.

  • The influence is in the somewhere :) Mostly Johnson tho.

  • J-lee hooker?

  • this is the stuff right here. let your heart play the guitar and just having fun. fantastic. but... have to say its a shame that you can hear the "slap" against the guitar when u play, it irritates me a little. Other then that I could easily rip this and play in on CD in the living room :)

  • Very nice...I like this stuff so much, keep on ...bluesin' ;).

  • Normally I'd remove a comment like this, but it's just so funny I had to leave it. Without "this kind of music" modern rock wouldn't exist. This is the root of rock. I'm sure guys like Anti-Flag and Sum 41 also know this and show respect where respect is due. Learn your history my friend :)

  • oh yes thats right. you're favorite band is Fallout Boy. They are pretty awesome.

  • never mind. posted to wrong comment. Who is the idiot today? I am.

  • Trogdor5... and where exactly do the roots of modern rock music lie? Answer: Deep in the blues. Learn to appreciate something other than the top 40.

  • dude you call yourself trogdor but you just got burninated

  • Homestar Runner ;)

  • It's great to see that people can still appreciate Robert Johnson :) I'm only 17 and know that his is like the Godfather of Blues. Really really nice work man !! 5 stars from me.

  • Cheers little brother, indeed Johnson had a lot to do with the blues. Thanks for the kind words .

  • nice playin' man!

what is the secret key to play well with a slide? i own one but i find it difficult to play the right notes ;/

  • Remember with a slide you travel to the fret and sit on top of it. Not behind it as you would if fretting the guitar.

  • Try tuning to an open tuning too, it's useful for beginner slide players, I suggest open D or C

  • I love it man! You inspired me to get a slide.

  • nice playin, you just cant beat the sound of a resonator with a slide and it also helps that your a great player. awsome job

  • Thanks man.

  • oh that was awesome

  • Admire your style.

  • Can you please get a link of just the audio so i have it on my ipod? :D

  • I'll try for you.

  • nice ;) robert johnson's song ;)

  • Thats the one :)

  • hey are their tabs for this?

  • Possibly, not sure. It's a medley of old traditional blues tunes. Starts with 'Come On In My Kitchen' by Robert Johnson.. then drifts around. Try and Google it :)

  • you got the blues!

  • how is ur guitar tuned?

  • This one is open G. DGDGBD from the 6th strings. Cheers.

  • Oh yes, you play with great feeling. Love it.

  • just bought a glass slide today never played before any tips would be great thanks =] and that sounds awsome

  • Sure, take it really slow. Aim for clean, clear tone, no fancy stuff, it comes later. Learn how to dampen.

  • haha yeeeah man

  • Really good, I think Brozman stole your licks for his video,, that was great,, you inpsired me..

  • Or perhaps the other way round, somehow don't think old Brozman would want to steal any of my licks :). Thanks though mate.

  • if i wanted to get a guitar like that what would i call it

  • This type of guitar is called a Resonator biscuit cone. Cheers.

  • This is fenomenal! What's your key to get a great slide tone?

  • Thank you. Thats a good question. I start of slow and steady, listen closely to your sound and slide, don't rush your slide and be gently. Take care to dampen (or not) your strings. And try different slides. Brass, chrome coated brass, glass, pyrex and porcelain slides all offer different tone and work differently for different guitars. Cheers.

  • Love that tone, Is that a harmony guitar? You can master finger picks with practice took me about 3 days and i got the hang of it You can get a lot more volume and attack it a lot more, love your style though Im only begginer at slide

  • Thanks, after seeing Bob Brozman I tried using finger picks, but didn't have the patience, maybe I'll give them another go, your right, more volume and attack. Cheers.

  • And to answer your other question, its a National Delphi Dlx. Cheers.

  • very nice job! ...no hurry! ...much feeling!

  • Okay, that was just some of the coolest shit I've heard. Can a beginner pull that off?

  • Sure, practice and listen to your tone.

  • Very nice - simple, but great sound. Thanks.

  • best blues slide iv'e seen

  • what kind of guitar is that electric in the back gorund?

  • The cherry red one is a custom built body I designed and had someone build for me, with a Epiphone LP neck, Scremin Demon in the bridge, Kent Armstrong Split Tube in the neck. Nothing to special but lots of sentimental value :)

  • oh, it just looks freakin awsome

  • Oooh I love you style m8;D

  • Very well done!

  • Hi man! Regards from Argentina.

I did take your video like an instuctional one. I love slide and I am learning open G. That was cool man! So cool! Keep posting.

  • Great! You must be a hit at the campfire

  • What tunnung are you in

  • Open G, sometimes use open D for this tune as well.
