@Freedomguide Local governments form the foundation of the nation's government system as a whole. We need to start locally to rid the corruption and work our way up the system. It's easier for the common man to approach and confront tyranny among their township supervisors, county board members, mayors, and sheriffs than officials in the federal government level.

1) Firearm ownership for the common man is unnecessary.

2) Only the police and military are to be armed.

3) There will always be a cop nearby to lend aide in time of need.

4) The U.S. Constitution is only a general guide line.

5) It is better to live under tyranny than to fight it.

6) Never question the government.

7) The government is always right.

8) Obama is our savior.

True Americans are willing to do anything at all times for their rights and Country. It is the least one can do when so many others have given everything.I suppose, even disliking has been won for them.To me, it shows that some do not appreciate what others have done.

@TheTiggernut I appreciate sacrifices others have made so that I can enjoy the life I live today. I live among historical areas from the American Revolution and visit those places often. How many people do you see paying homage to the grave sites of the Continental soldiers today? It's few and far between. I visit those graves year round and thank those veterans; the names of which are not even listed on the grave markers. They have been forgotten by the public, but I haven't forgotten them.

@TheTiggernut The problem with a revolution that it invokes a change. We do not want to change the Constitution, but rather restore the government to what the Constitution meant it to be. I'm afraid the new framers might try to alter what is already in place. I'm all for restoring the system, not changing it. It could be difficult to judge what is the correct side to be on if the time comes. Time will tell which side is correct. Regardless, I'll be fighting right along side you, brother.

A 2nd American revolution should be about restoration. However, with what is going on in the US, we might see a civil war instead of a revolution. States could break away from the dying out union instead of going down with the ship. Have you read about Wyoming House Bill 85 yet? Scary stuff could be on the horizon.

Christopher Columbus was seen as a hero but we rarely hear of the disease, theft, and enslavement he and his crew brought to the new world. Athens is probably listed as some obscure subscript foot note someone in a grade school text book.

Just to add this is a Hallmark movie based loosely on the Battle of Athens. The actual battle had a lot fewer guns, shooting and confrontation. The guard was not sent as there was concern they would not shoot on fellow vets. The vets did throw some dynamite but not a demolition attack. Therefore this is a loose dramatization

@RobTheHillbilly We did it once in 1776, but back then both sides were somewhat evenly matched -- men, muskets, bayonets, horses, wagons, and cannon. Today there is such a stark difference in supplies available to a citizen compared to government forces that a stand up fire fight like in Athens would not be overly possible. Guerrilla warfare and insurgency would be the order of day.

This is the EXACT reason the second amendment was drafted. If it was the FIRST amendment, there would be no cloudiness in perception. @ctnjason Checks and Balances were used in the creation of the government to keep each branch from becoming too powerful. The 2nd Amendment is the final form of checks and balances to allow the citizens a means of defending their rights. Many liberals do not understand this.

@Invesigator It's easier to not be afraid when the populace stands together as one. There's strength in numbers and the government knows this. By labeling those who own firearms, prepare to be self-reliant, and speak out against the government as terrorists and extremists, it creates a division among the population and makes us weak. Domesticating citizens by making them become reliant on the government is another tactic. There isn't much a lone individual can accomplish.

Perhaps they felt powerless against the corruption and decided to go with the flow of tyranny to avoid being singled out and victimized.
