  • good taste in music brought me here!

  • What talent that doens't exist today. Amazing. Don't care what you worship. I think your song sings to the soul of all of man and women kind.

  • A song filled with 'Peace' and purity..from a pure heart.

  • @cazna16 one of a kind artist your comment rings true

  • Stop writing of religion. Enjoy!

  • @sweetkees God Bless this comment. Me thinks John Lennon had it right. Just enjoy without judging without the bounderies of religion.

  • @dadwit4shorties I think that's called Henotheism, and the beginning to enlightened peace among all mankind.

  • Beautiful

  • 21 people are not at peace with themselves....sad

  • Tim Maia no piano!

  • Beautiful version of Eleanor Farjeon's poem, to be found in "Earth Prayers," a collection of literary works, showing a spiritual appreciation of nature in all of its manifestations, including authors of all faiths spreading over various centuries. Regards, Robin

  • Cat Stevens brought me here.

  • A kid in the 70's listening to GREAT music brought me here !!! To escape the "music" tragedy we have presently.

  • @StuON22 I just want to say it's only the commercial music that is the tragedy of today there's loads of great music that's not in the mainstream today that is great ad me as a friend and you'll most come across loads of great music of today

  • In 1970 I was introduced to "Cat Stevens Music by a friend in my Spanish class." I having a knowing that your Parents felt this way! Now in 2012 you hear this song in Heaven singing over you for eternity, in which is a "LIFETIME with God!" " Morning has Broken from the Class of 1971"

  • Oh if I could only accompany you with my piano- that would be heaven

  • A big shame he converted to islam!. He was a really good guy

  • @fittsaftittrosan What does a religion have to do with music? Never down other peoples beliefs, they have just as much evidence as yours do.

  • @pickford7812 in this case its very clear.

  • @fittsaftittrosan One reason i listening to this song is in the christian message that he send.

  • @fittsaftittrosan That's not an answer. if it was clear I wouldnt have asked. what does his religion have to do with a awesome song?

  • Comment removed

  • I could be wrong, but it sounds like they are playing the studio version and he's lip syncing. Either way, he's super talented and please leave religion out of this. His conversion to Islam (over 30 yrs ago) has nothing to do with his great music.

On a side note, I thumbs down anyone who asks for thumbs up :) Stop this new youtube plague from spreading further!

  • @rochat I thought the same thing when I watched the other video of this same performance. I can't see him hitting so perfectly, those notes around 1:35 .

  • Thumbs up if Cat Stevens brought you here.

  • Love it as the first time I listen it

  • Nothing brought me here. I came by myself.

  • Christ was the new covenant and never said to kill anyone . It is the phony Leaven of the Doctrines of Man & Gov. that pervert the 4 testimonies of the gospels of peace { Matthew , MARK , LUKE & JOHN } and the complete new Testament : { KJV }

  • I truly have no issue with anyone and their religion, I do have issue with others that would kill you verse letting you have your own religion.

  • thumbs up if Guðni brought you here

  • Dr House brought me here too...UP FIVE!!!

  • thats my grandma on the piano

  • We sing this song in chapel at my school! Fantastic song sung by a fantastic man.

  • Is that Billy Preston on Keys?

  • Sorry lyndachele, there is no Allah, no Mohammed, no sharia law , no hate of the Jewish state in the bible.

  • This is a Christian hymn (in church hymnals) but he still sings it, now. Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are all Abrahamic religions. All 3 religions believe their Scriptures are the final word of God. Islam considers Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses and Jesus to all be prophets of Allah (their name for God), with Mohammed being the final prophet. They believe they exist to worship God and do God's Will.

  • @lyndachele very correct.

  • Oh it is a reflection....gotcha

  • I love Cat's music, I can no longer stand him as a person with his religious conversion if you can call it religion!!

  • @lakekerr1 One sad thing that Christian and Muslim fanatics have in common is their hatred for anyone whose path to God is different from their own. Both have substituted a relationship with a BOOK for a relationship with God. When you allow yourself to experience the unconditionally loving God in your heart, you will know that God judges no one for holding the "wrong" belief. God is neither a Christian nor a Muslim. God is pure, unconditional love.

  • Love it!

  • was cat a christian at this point? i think that's a cross he's got on his neck. must have been a part of his spiritual quest...

  • who is that guy at the piano? i love him from free to be you and me movie.

  • Mornin' Bill.

    and nicely.

  • Very beautiful song! Excellent performance! Thank you very much for the video you have sent, my friend!

  • When I was young, I loved Cat Stevens music a lot. I now own 2 CD's and one DVD by him now. And by pure luck, I have Eleanor Farjeon's 1957 childrens poetry book called "The Children's Bells" is where the lyrics first appear. In the book, she presents poetry on a "season" basis. If you have it, look for "Around The Year, 1st Quarter" and it appears on page 189-190. This is the "Spring" chapter.

  • Thumbs up if DR House brought you here!

  • to bad we lost him to a cult

  • @emmy6423 Did he become a christian??!

  • @cameraguy1968 Religion was created to comfort the sick and elderly in their time of dying it was also created to make money. you be the judge.

  • my all time favorite song...

  • HOLY FUCK!

  • This is a Christian Hymn

  • Awesome... Too bad it's all lip-synced to the studio version.

  • To jeden z najlepszych utworów naszej ery.

W Polsce usłyszałem go po raz pierwszy w latach 80 i był to głos wolności.

  • when my class graduated from Catholic school in 1972, we chose this song. It was a tough choice between "Let It Be" & this. I wish they had let us do both.

  • pls make it available for mobile!

  • and it is in most old-school Church Hymnals

  • I see fresh peronality, wish his passion for being better was in me too.

  • Cat groovin it.

  • i watched from the 600,00th woot

  • he is a great musician to bad hes a nut now its a shame....

  • I hope you become Muslim too if that's what you're referring to. : ) Peace be upon you

  • @Nytom95 a 'nut' !!!!!. he has spent the last 30 years doing lots of great Charity work through education and on Poverty. and you call him a nut. i met him a decade ago and he's the most humble man you will every meet. he's taken his fame and fortune and poured it into charity work. that's not a nut, that's a human beinig

  • cat stevens your the best...

  • Beautiful lyrics.

  • really beautifull song...thank you so much for share....

  • Did he write his own songs? Love him, whatever he calls himself.

  • @muse54

yes cat stevens wrote all his own songs,he is now known as yusuf, check out all his songs, he is the best, started music 1966

  • Respond to this video... such a cool cat

  • @muse54 you know bob dylan? this guy was once touted as his successor.

  • @muse54 He wrote almost all his own songs. Interestingly enough, this is one he did not. It is a poem by Eleanor Farjeon, set to a traditional Gaelic tune. His other notable cover was his interpretation of Sam Cooke's "Another Saturday Night".

  • The giant "disco" sign overhead is a bit inexplicable...

  • @bitherwack It's a German word for a nightclub. Disco was a German TV show - before "disco" meant Stayin' Alive and stuff. Yes, it is funny now to be an English speaker and see the giant word "Disco" behind an acoustic folkie. I almost crapped my pants when I saw Ralph McTell (Streets of London, great song but about as disco-ey as Cat Stevens) on "Disco."

  • @mtut

thanks for clearing up the disco sign, i too was always confused by that, neat to know!

  • I had no idea one of the Wild Samoans was such a great piano player.

  • @stargate121 Jean Roussel. He's from Mauritius, not Samoa, has lived in the UK for most of his life, and is eminently civilized (by whatever concept). He has a slug of session credits on keys and as a producer, so you've probably heard his playing before (The Police, Bob Marley, Donovan, Robert Palmer ... ringing any bells?). And yes, he's an incredible musician.

  • this is soooo beautiful... tears in my eyes...

  • @helithemaddog Yeah . . . it's hard for me to listen to his genuine gratitude and not be moved. His music elevates me.

  • very handsome young cat!

  • Makes me want to light up a joint.

  • I was too young to know who Cat Stevens was in 1976. I was probably 2-3 yrs old, but I appreciate his music past and present. I can see how such an obviously spiritual person would embrace Islam...

  • lovely song. Morning did break, when I was born in 1976

  • Waking up to this gives a good vibe when morning has broken.

I don`t care about any religion.

I only care about people that have faith, respect and genuine appreciation for life.

And that guy on the stage certainly has all of that.

  • im not religious but i love listening to this song its true music better than the people now who cant sing but airbrush themselves and there voices and make bad music =)

  • j'adore !!

  • he is the ultimate in peace...love and understanding no matter what his religion. are you catholic? (ouch....dont say it brother...) grow up. listen to his words for what they were meant. PEACE...LOVE...and UNDERSTANDING. religion has so little to do with anything other than what YOU as an individual believes is the proper way to live your life. he is........cat stevens.

  • Eventho tho he became a muslim, his songs are still memorable and has something to say. All his music comes from from the soul and his music will always have a special place in my heart.

  • I don't see how anyone could dislike a song like this.

  • One of the most beautiful songs ever written:)

  • I will always remember this song to going to church at Navy boot camp and another recruit playing this on the piano and thinking what a song! peaceful and calming..

  • This song is in the Baptist hymnal. Its a beautiful song of praise. Cat sure was easy on the eyes in those days.

  • @heavenlyluv33 i totally agree.. what a babe!

  • This is really really true music, not this crap they have today

  • @brookisarmystrong I agree that this is true music but when this first came out somebody probably called it, "this crap they have today".

  • I JUST LOVE THIS SONG, ESPECIALLY WHEN THE SUN RISE OVER THE WORLD.

  • this song makes me want to cry .... from joy .. what an amazing song sung by an amazing person ....

  • Are y'all readdy to hear something funny? I once saw this tune in a Hymnal in a Christian church. How ironic, right?

  • @kja427 its because its originally a hymn in the christian church (he didnt write it)

  • Comment removed

  • anyone who prefers bieber to this is just weird, cat Stevens you are beautiful

  • i never liked his music !! but i have not had a problem with him as a human .

  • if this is really live: fuck me running, slap my ass and call me susie!! hes really pro!

    love this song!

  • what a state of perfection xo

  • I've seen this in a hymnal or songbook @ a Lutheran Church - song & tune

  • nice miming Cat.

  • Cat Stevens is is Muslim, but this is a Christian Hymn -

  • @papagarth The tune is. It's called Child In a Manger. I used to sing it at Christmas as a child.

  • its a universal ''song ###

  • can anybody say to me if cat stevens was crishna and this song is about him(crishna)????

  • this is ok movie..watched the full movie in webmovietube for free

  • Ha I love Cat Stevens even if he's Yusuf it doesn't matter to me. I just find it funny how there's a Muslim dating site ad when I'm watching this video :P I've never had an Islam related ad in my life!

  • somiglia al nostro Venditti negli anni 70

  • I had this hymn at my wedding - it was so beautiful. Totally Love Cat Stevens version, so peaceful.....

  • This beautiful song was taken from an old church hymnal...he allegedly ran out of songs for an album he was making...he really does it justice.

  • What an incredible song, incredible melody ..... trough years of lousy music ... I have almost forget that melody existed!

Time will preserve only good music.... music that preserves and increase its popularity trough time ..... lady who? justin who?

  • I agree. Music today is just lacking meaning. Cat Stevens songs just have that wonderful message. Now that is real music & great voice. Today's talent is just lacking that meaningful message.

  • he is lip syncing

  • So Sweet :),... Keep Istiqamah Brada Stevens (Yusuf Islam), May Allah SWT always blessin' in you :)

  • Beautiful song, beautiful man.

  • I am 58 on the 1st of May 2011. I loved this man when I was 16, just shows what good taste I have :-) My Grandmother had this song played at her funeral, just shows that some things really are in your genes.

  • @Asprer025 the only problem is i was listening to these bands when i was a teenager 15 years ago "Ace of Spades" "Dr Rock " alright alright hope you sons of bitches see the light

and Killed by Death AKA feel my dick

and lady Gaga rocks and why did you post this on a Cat Stevens song instead of one of the afore mentioned pop bands

  • @Asprer025 and U listen to the same crappy rock over and over

  • @solhasse doesn't know what real music is

  • @Asprer025 this is not a pop. This is a sacred music.

  • @Asprer025 i like Owl City =/

  • @Asprer025 sorry, every band you mentioned sucks

  • @Asprer025 there is no reason why you can't appreciate them all, why limit yourself because of stereotypes ?

  • Thank you Lord for bringing your beautiful light to the world.

  • are you religious?

  • @antethecool Am I religious? I think "religious" is too subjective a term to be able to answer. I am a Christian in that I try to follow the teaching of Jesus Christ.

  • ATTENTION I FOUND PROVE OF THE EXISTENCE OF A VERY VERY RARE CAT STEVENS CLIP OF ''MAYBE YOUR RIGHT'' I POSTED THE EVIDENCE IN A VID: /watch?v=Eq0b1Xazydg

PLEASE PEOPLE WE NEED THIS! HELP NOW NEEDED!

EVERY CAT STEVENS FAN HELP NOW!

GIVE THIS THUMBS UP SO IT GET NOTICED!

  • I wasn't aware of the fact that he didn't write this song. I am glad that he put his

talent into singing it though, it's one of my favorites and I might have never heard

it if it weren't for him. Big thumbs up on the cover!

  • Never the less, it is a song that needed to be sung and the voice needed to be Cat Stevens. His heart was in it and he emits harmony and peace.

  • @MrBadgerrat He didn't write it - it was published in the 30s, more than a decade before he was born. He did a popular version of it, and certainly increased its popularity, but attributing it to him is a mistake. (An understandable one, of course.)

  • This is beautiful! I really like this.

  • How Interesting that a man,who converted to Islam, would have this Christian Hymn as one of his hits?

  • You'll never realize how ugly today's music is until you dig in the past. Nice melody and lyrics.

  • @saintsaens888 All new music sucks Thats why I don't listen too any new music at all I only listen too 50's,60's,70's,80's:)at least songs back then Had good messages in them not like today thats for sure

  • @mexicofootballfan Only because you don't listen to any new music, you don't like any of it. There is good music today, just like there was rubbish in the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s.

Time tends to filter out the garbage, so you just have to look a bit harder for good, new music. I don't like the dominance of R&B/hiphop either, but to say that all new music sucks is just rubbish.

  • @mexicofootballfan There are a few good songs still being written and sung but they are very hard to find. Otherwise I totally agree...somewhere in the mid to late 80s the music business and the quality of popular music started a downward spiral that continues to this day

  • They dont write them like that anymore...nice video thanks
