That last painting doesn't resemble a cat to me in any way. This guy seemed to be obsesed with the way a cat's eyes look when they stare directly at you. It's pretty creepy, but the paintings themsevles look neat.
there was certainly a decrease in details of the picture schizophrenia but the abstraction after schizophrenia is amazing, i mean this could signify his delusions!
I cried at this, I find it really quite sad that his disorder had to affect his art - his earlier paintings were so full of character and personality.
I wish this was in chronological order so you could see the transition. I noticed pre-diagnosis you could see some of the cats starting to have that expressionless imposing gaze.
I heard that Louis Wain got sick from toxoplasmosis. Tiny worm parasites from cat poop went inside this man's brain. The parasite infects rats' brains and makes them go near cats so that cats eat them, get infected and then pass it on to humans. So be careful if a cat licks itself or poops in your house. The parasite flies in the air and into your lungs.
@eeikman funny you should say that Iwas just thinking that he's got stuff that looks like it was straight out of the mandlebrot set but he died in 39 and mandlebrot didn't find the set until the late 70's very interesting
The artist skill is pretty impressive even with schizophrenia but it looks as if the external world becomes fused with the cats after the onset of schizophrenia like the flowers the sun the environment that the cats in the art were playing in before the onset of the illness are now part of the cats themselves in a really chaotic fashion.
Beautiful video. Really well done. Discovered this artist today and your video was a really nice addition. The music choice is quite amazing as well. Thanks.

Well, we've seen the "before and after" schizophrenia paintings.
Now I want to see the "during" schizophrenia paintings.

@DaddyOD13 I guess you are saying during midnight instead of after midnight

@Daskeladden1
A moment of insanity can seem like an eternity of ecstasy.
An eternity of ecstasy would leave not a moment of sanity.

@Daskeladden1 Did he recover from it or what?
SixFootTallMidget 3 months ago
@SixFootTallMidget you cannot recover from schizophrenia
Daskeladden1 3 months ago
@Daskeladden1 I hear that some can recover, or at least so much so that it becomes largely marginalized.

His art seemed to have become more beautiul and intricate as he aged. His earlier works lack depth, as if drawn by a child.

why are they all cat paintings?

Looks like fractals. Forms of cats emerging out of chaos. He must have suffered a great deal.
eeikman 3 months ago 11
@eeikman I also noticed some things that look fractal. It's as if his work became more intellectual, in a way, as his conditioned worsened.

His filters lifted and he saw too much. I imagine it would be difficult to navigate in our world in this state..

Nice but I would have ordered the post-schizophrenic cats differently, starting from most "normal looking" and getting crazier and crazier.

The human mind is an astounding thing; even when diseased.
It's intriguing how the style of the artwork changes as the schizophrenia progresses.
