Beck had many great eras but the Midnite Vultures era always stood out to me as my favourtie for some reason. Just wish I discovered him when I was younger!
jajaja, yeah, it's a great collection the beck repertory, i'm looking for a song called "inmirato per signora" or something like that... i've only heard it only once and now i can't find it
Actually, the movie was called "A Life Less Ordinary," which was only so-so in my opinion if I remember correctly, and the Beck song on the soundtrack was "Deadweight," which I think is a pretty decent tune.
I can't believe the ignorance of some of you, bashing Beck for taking liberties with an old song. This is his own song, and it has nothing to do with marching tunes or Mississippi John Hurt. Don't you know that radically different songs can share a title???
As for my take on this song - it is one of my favourite of Beck's lamentably unreleased songs. Beautiful and nuanced.
I've never heard a version of creole belle like this before. It is so far off base they should have just gave it a new name. I think i agree with the dude below me. 'creole belle' is an old string band marching tune. this has taken to many liberties. Beck has some good tunes, but this isn't one of them

i'm sure why you are idolizing this guy... sure, he made some good songs, BUT he ruined this song. all he is playing is simple chords because the real song is, i'm guessing, too much for him
he is ruining blues music and none of you know its a blues classic... instead beck is just "so brilliant"... follow the crowd some more sheep
I think that you're thinking of "My Creole Belle" by Mississippi John Hurt.... This is a different song.He only used a similar song title to pay a small tribute to Hurt, because he inspired Beck so much.

Creole Belle was so pretty. It's so frozen in time because he just did it at a few shows that year (2000). It's good to see this video of it.
