@Brettbowden26 To get the Giga Wave cannon, you need to unlock the R-902 Ragnarok II. It's equipped w/ the Cyclone Force and the Giga Wave cannon. I suggest you visit GameFAQs for a full list of how to unlock things.

@walter0bz R-Type is WAY more forgiving than Gradius is, but I also find R-Type to be way more fun.

@KewneRain I think its because you're still a force to be reckoned with even when you don't have power-ups, but R-Type is also a thinking man's shooter. It's more about strategy then reflex and skill.

Okay, my third post on this video in the last 5 minutes, so definitely stopping after this.

The ships in R-Type are powered by Bydo technology. The final wave cannon itself is so devastating, that they consider the Bydo to be even more destructive and evil than the Devil, which is why Bydo comes after Devil on the cannon charge.

The R-9A3 Curtain Call is the 100th ship in the game. You get it by putting in the password when it's slot is available. This and the 99th and 101st ships can use ANY force module, ANY bit system, and most importantly, ANY wave cannon, including the devastating Giga Wave Cannon (the one with the Bydo charge).

And knowing is half the battle. ;D

The last charge, which is right after Devil, is Bydo. It auto-kills everything.
