  • There should be a mod where you could pick between nukem and harry that's the characters name and have both monsters in the game at the same time. that is bad ass.

  • Poor man's Duke.

  • Almost looks like Duke Nukem Advance.

  • its funny how this is a legit game on xbl arcade now

  • the link is broken

  • This is one of the most impressive things the internet has ever made.

  • I know the guy that invented duke nukem

  • Must have taken some serious work! Very nice, whoever did it.

  • im wondering: how does he jump? you can't jump in the doom engine if i remember correctly.

  • @MarkP0rter Yes you can.

  • @ColtDipper1822 you need to add monster using doom builder, i had the same problem!

  • Are you sure this isn't LameDuke?

  • This is an interesting curiosity, but why would you go through the trouble of creating this kind of mod?

  • Engine downgrade ? AWESOME !

  • Doom, released 1993.

    Duke 3D, released 1996.

    Quake, released 1996.

I dunno about you guys but seeing ID's 3 year older engine handle doing duke 3D in any capacity while they were making one of (again) the most revolutionary 3D games at the time is impressive. ;p

  • @TinariKao What is impressive, if anything, is the way this map was designed in order to cleverly overcome Doom's engine limitations, namely the planarity of the map (i.e., only one floor level for each x-z coordinate), by adding a few portals; the inability to jump, by adding lifts; and the absence of diagonal slopes, converting them in tiny stairs. Also, this is actually an improved version of Doom's engine (more like Heretic's), because the player is allowed to look up and down.

  • @MindFlyer37

in the options you could change the controls to look up and down....

  • @randomnerd123 Wrong. That started with Heretic, not with Doom, and not even with Doom 2.

  • @TinariKao On the other hand, several features that made Duke3D's engine unique are neglected here, such as breakable walls, bullet marks staying on walls, footprints, interactive/breakable objects, etc.. Remarkably, some blood stains stay on walls, which again was not natively supported by Doom's engine.

All in all, this is an improved Doom's engine running a map that mimics the geometry of the first level of Duke3D (which in turn was extremely simple), which doesn't seem so impressive.

  • You can't kick aliens in the face

    D:

  • turitu , turiru , turiturituturitutan tuu tan tan :P

  • You've got balls of fail, but still seeing that the doom engine was crappier than duke nukem 3d not bad

  • @eivis13 of course the Duke Nukem 3D engine was better than the original Doom engine they are from different times! xD

  • this is just duke nukem isn't it?

  • @xenomorph77 It's Duke Nukem in the Doom Engine, with Doom sounds/.

  • Now why would you recreate this game on an older engine? It would be like taking Quake 2 and running it on the Doom engine.

  • @TheFalloutguy14 I think that already exists, LOL xD There's also a Doom 3 mod for Doom 2.

  • @Samoutuomas, that's even crazier.

  • @TheFalloutguy14 LOL, I just checked and it ACTUALLY exists... On my "related videos" on YouTube... LOL, Doom-mods rule, they're so insane... xD

  • How can some people look at this game and say it's realistic? The graphics are crappy the guns look stupid and the shotguns shoot like 50000 feet! All the duke nukem games look stupid

  • @TheSparkyb7 You do realise that all of the Duke Nukem games except Forever were made in the 1990's? It wasn't always GTA4/GT5/Uncharted 3/COD:BO graphics all the time.

  • please respond... what is the name of this level's song?

  • What's the big deal about Duke Nukem? You never hear Master Chief or Ghost forever. So what makes Duke stand out? Who cares if he fought aliens, so did Master Chief and HeroicPoopstain (My Gamertag)

  • @EliteTHChannel Duke was one of the most important FPS games in the world.

He came much time before this characters you said. It was the first FPS who would show tits, dark humor and etc.

    He's quotes are epic.

First, God made Wolf, then he made Doom. Knowing he could do better, he finally made Duke

  • @miloshflanders1 Finally somebody explains to me, instead of calling me a noob and saying that this is the best video game ever, and for that, here's a cookie

  • @EliteTHChannel Master chief needed power Armour, Duke just kicked aliens in the face and fucked bitches.

  • @Cridant1 True, true. But you can't fuck bitches in an intergalactic space fleet. You'd most likley get fired

  • @EliteTHChannel The duke can fuck bitches and lead the damn fleet!

  • bad ass dude

  • Skulltag version is better

  • lol why not just play duke nukem??!

  • Seems mostly like a sound port, still cool though.

  • what source port is that?

  • The Duke Nukem engine is much better than the Doom 2 one ..it can be seen in this video :D

  • Hail to the King...

  • omg i remember playing this way back in 1996 or 97... damn the good old days!!!

  • That's actually quite the way I remember it..... before all that high resolution crap came along :)

  • Duke Nukem 3D engine is really old already

Why would anyone port it to an even older engine?

  • @Metallicgnacio Because they can. Lol

  • @Metallicgnacio Respect the classics.

  • @Metallicgnacio

    cause they can!

  • LOL lets make a mod thats the exact same thing as the real game....what a good use of time

  • duke nukem 3d was the first game with slants, at 1:19 you can see that doom 2 has it not

  • That is quite an impressive port you got there.

  • Why the hell would anyone want this? You already have Doom 2, a far superior game. So why mess it up by turning it into Duke Nukem 3D?!

  • this is the most epic thing i've ever seen in my life...

  • this looks like a downgrade from the original O.o

    sorry!

  • @FluxCurrent So it should. The build engine is more advanced than the Doom engine. But demakes are always fun :) (In my humble opinion)

  • Do not want, there is a better mod.

  • @DoukNoukem4ever

I know this is a shitty old graphic replacment from the late 90's, now you can make it alot better.. even code shit yourself and make mirrors, breakable scenery, the duke hud u name it douk

  • what the fuck

  • once played this on freedoom but it didnt look like this at all

  • @ichiman14

they should have done it on GzDoom, it can do pretty much everything the build engine can, and more. It can even have 3d models and 3d floors.

  • @jwaffe

they did do it on zDoom. notice the sloped walls and ceilings?

  • @jpd2009RV

actually, it's probably done on the Legacy source port, it shows signs of using DeHackEd and it's using the standard HUD for legacy.

  • @jwaffe

actually, you're right. i watched the vid again and looked closer at the supposed slopes. you'll notice they aren't true slopes. they used a stair effect to create the illusion of slopes. interesting technique, but why develop levels for the legacy engine anymore? zDoom is definitely the way to go if you want to faithfully recreate some duke levels.

  • @jwaffe would Eduke32 be the duke equivalent of GZdoom, minus the multiplayer features?

It has 3D model support, and a true 3D renderer.

It even has dynamic shadowing and support for different texture mapping (parallax i believe) like the darkplaces port for quake.

  • @jackoneill45

no, Eduke32 is actually way more advanced than GzDoom. Eduke32 is closer to jdoom, but even that isn't anywhere near EDuke32.

Here's the source ports I know about:

zdoom - doom engine with more functionality

GzDoom - doom engine with some 3d models and 3d geometry

jDoom - N64ish looking doom engine with great low poly 3d model support

  • @jackoneill45

I forgot legacy. Legacy has great 3d geometry, but now 3d models and it's not very flexible with mapping, and you can't make new enemies, you can only tweak the old monsters' behavior slightly and give new sprites and sounds. That's what we see in this video.

There's also chocolate doom, and a few other ports, but they're not true 3d at all.

  • TBH, just from looking at this video (not the title), I would never have thought this was a Doom2 WAD. Because it looks very much like the original Duke 3d.

  • Great job but I can't see the point in this sorry. If anything a person is downgrading from the original which is outdated already of course.

  • The original Duke 3D is better than this mod for Doom.

  • @5Doomer

    Of course it is.

  • I don't really see the point with this. Duke Nukem 3D runs almost perfectly on modern systems and have only slightly higher requirements than Doom,

Now a game like Blood, for instance, that won't run for shit on a modern engine, i can understand why you would port that.

I ike Duke Nukem, alot. Not as much as Doom though. I'm sure you put much effort into this but to me (but maybe that's just me) this just seems pointless.

  • omg

  • haha this sucks!

  • does Doom and duke nukem ran on the same engine?

  • @RyuHoly

no doom 1,2 (idtech 1) and duke nukem 3d (build engine)

  • awful this only has 1 level

  • why would you do that, its like trying to play sonic on a mario engine ITS LIKE DIVIDING BY ZERO

  • @hunterbox1986 just get doom legacy 1.42

  • wow... thats amazing. its soooo close to real duke 3d. but, it reminds me how much i hate not being able to jump on games, lol.

  • anyone else unlock the invisible super shotgun on level 2!? LOL

  • uh.... This doesnt differ much from Duke Nukem 3D, it's pretty much the same!!

  • Showing the limiations of the Doom engine.

  • @silenceofthehills Well, not all limitations were taken in account, mind you. Example: Skulltag: I was able to make a perfect laser weapon, a custom railgun (doesn't use the internal Railgun codes), custom melee that uses projectile for visual and range control, etc.

This mode was probably made with the basic Doom Decorate and ACS, which were, of course, very limited. Yet, it was amazingly well done.

  • @silenceofthehills, it was limited, but it kicked ass!!!

  • @silenceofthehills

    Sure did!

  • @silenceofthehills what do you mean? :P

  • @thekoopa36

Just with how it can't do ramps or how you go through a teleporter to get upstairs into the projector room.

  • @thekoopa36

Its still really cool though, to see DN3D on the Doom engine though.

  • @silenceofthehills hehe, no sloped floors, no swing or slide doors, not mirror etc etc etc :P

  • @silenceofthehills Actually, this video was recorded using an old mod, in a vastly outdated sourceport (Legacy engine). The modern Zdoom engine can mimic sloped floors, swing or slide doors, mirrors, true 3D floors and actor heights, deep water, and everything else (exept horizontaly moving 3D sectors)

  • @SGtMarkIV

Well, I meant the engine at the time of Doom's release.

Could the original Doom engine do all of what you stated?

  • @silenceofthehills

No and neither did original Build engine they had to modify the build engine to make all those things possible.

Monolith almost modified the entire Build engine for blood.

  • Is this a full remake?

  • @oxbowthegreat NO! Lol only the first level. Texture glitches lurk too.

  • Duke Nukem 3D - source!!

  • Yeah, except Doom doesn't have Y Axis Aiming.

  • @Master0Shake not true with skull tag or zdoom you can edit the settings so doom has x and y axis aiming along with 1024x1080, x16 anisotropic filtering and trilinear texture mode.

  • @77leaper77 Really? Nice!

  • @Master0Shake use a source port. Like Skulltag

  • Dang it, knowing in 2008 they probably could of done a LOT more with this. For instance, they should of made the Pistol fire faster, and I'm positive it's possible to put all the monsters from Duke Nukem 3D into ZDOOM easily. But this mod has to exist the way it is too be honest, and be somewhere. But there needs to be more of a focused mod on emulating the engine that Duke Nukem 3D had into ZDOOM.

  • lol! i cant believe the duke nukem i played when i was a kid is a mod! i cant believe it!

  • @facuags u know this isnt the original game right?

  • @BronzeTurd did you readed when i said "MOD"???

  • @facuags sorry i understood it wrong

  • Can someone help me find the original game for Vista? I found DOOM but this one is a bitch.

  • What's the point of playing Duke3D on the Doom 2 engine? If he was truely playing on the Doom 2 engine, he wouldn't have been able to look up and down, at least not without skewing.

  • ...............graphics replacement well the duke nuke 3d for skulltag is 10000 times better

  • nothing beats doom not even duke nukem 3d

  • @jonasldg I dunno. Duke3d kicks all ass. Still Doom lies in 2nd.

  • Pretty good mod!

  • that mod was no fun, actually I rather play original duke nukem 3d

  • You can also use ANY amount of frames, weapons, the sound entries can be called DSDICK01 and it's still gonna play it even though the original doom wouldn't recognize it (as long as you register it properly). Same goes for any other entries.

Also features a jetpack, nighvision and swimming. Convenient, eh? :P

edgeDOTsourceforgeDOTnet . If you're still into doom modding, get it NOW!

  • To whomever made this mod (which I suspect is riseandfall420):

Uhh, dude, if you really want to make a GOOD duke nukem 3d mod for doom2, use EDGE. Not Legacy or ZDoom. EDGE gives you boundless modding capabillities, from how high your character is gonna jump or how low he's gonna crouch (Yes, CROUCH) to the amount of pellets a shotgun shell will contain and how big the spread would be.

  • Comment removed

  • dude it is doom 2 just a modded wad file he is playing thats all

  • It only has ONE FRIGGIN' LEVEL.

  • @TheXenomorph1 yeah that sucks

  • ep.. fa..

  • ok, you seem t carefull, and theres no point at all to get a mod for doom two of duke nukem... u can just play the other, i agree with u @SFtheWolf

  • Certainly impressive. I can't say I see the point though.

  • i remember when i wasi playing as a kid it was so awesome!

  • I'm wondering how the hell you unstuck the sight to go up and down(doom 2 had sticked eye vision).... And you can't make jump action

  • He's probably using a port such as zdoom or gzdoom, both support looking up and down in doom and doom 2, as well as jumping and crouching

  • @sashetoa

It's likely the Zdoom port of the engine. Google it.

  • not working just map 1 work :(

  • he eh make a duke nukem 3d mod for DOOM 3 it will look awesome. but hell this is hardcore man :)

  • Come get soome!

  • It's only for ONE level though...

  • Very Nice mod.

Apart from whatever the hell happened at 2:37 and no Duke quotes (Other than "Come Get Some!" EVERY time you pick up a gun)

Other than those few hitches, very nice work sir.

  • look it up, it's a cover of the duke nukem theme by megadeth

  • Good work!

  • wicked, i have this wad on my psp.

its a lot harder than the original duke I find, makes it more fun though, =p for example the pig patrol things they fly around in in the first level. all i need to do is find out how to run a wolfenstein wad for doom2 now..

  • nothing beats the original duke nukem 3D. It can be played online still with a friend. I suggest co-op play. no cheats you new age cheating gamers.

  • Please tell me how to play online.... haben't played since me and a friend would play over a 56K. Can it be played with cable internet?

    Thanks

  • @th3planetsghost I don't believe cheating is a new concept, it's been around since the NES

  • @th3planetsghost Nothing beats the old Dooms! Not even the upcoming Doom 4. Strangely this wad doesn't have good quality rips. Check Aeons of Death for Doom 2! Has better quality weapons than Duke3D

  • @th3planetsghost I hate all that cheating crap, I'm 14, but the only way you can get good at a game is by actually playing it. Although some cheating is fun if your bored.

  • @th3planetsghost Weel, this one must be played online. ccop is my favo too. True, it is better the original, but the reedition for doom2 is quite nice, and if it is aviable in zdoom it can host a brand new world of opprtunities :P

  • @th3planetsghost with what? jDuke or whats it called? I really want to play multiplayer duke..

  • @th3planetsghost up up down down left right left right B A

    You, sir, fail.

  • @hunthell real men never used that shit.

  • @th3planetsghost You re correct, but it is an old-school code - which was my point.

  • @th3planetsghost there are better versions of doom 2 duke mods xD which might work even for deathmatch or ctf xD

  • @th3planetsghost Yeah, but I wish that tere was a WAD that replicated everything about Duke. Would make it easier to play imo. And I laughed my ass off when I heard Duke was finally coming out.

  • @th3planetsghost HEY we are proud people

  • lol its more easy just download duke nukem 3d and play .

    much work for nothing

  • they hav a better wad for the Duke3d weapons. its in the skulltag forums, under releases.

    and its WAYYYYY better

  • Who cares - this is wayyyyy older...

  • Duke Nukem Forever. Even in Doom.

  • that's right! Duke is Forever

  • NICE!

  • You've done a great job.. apart from him saying "come get some" every 10 seconds, the map actually looks identical as do the weapons.

  • this is good but nothing beats the original game :)

  • lol, that must have been a hard work

  • umm... the original is always better! Why make a copy?

    :-\

  • because people are bored

  • its only the first lvl

  • This mod was awful.. but it was a nice try.

  • Awful? I think this is fantastic! It actually looks like Duke nuken 3d

  • no, this is the worst Duke mod I've ever seen for Doom

  • care to show us some better ones?

  • good point

  • just to let you know, that wasnt meant to be offensive, i just wanted to see a better one.

  • i've got balls of steal!

  • nah, im pretty sure no-one wants to steal them...

  • Rofl!

  • I want to... Nah lol xD
