I did this, and the water was coming out nicely for a while, then all of a sudden all the water stopped moving, I teleported back to my base, and the WHOLE tank emptied at once for some reason. T_T wtffffffffff

@bddblade It's not a perfect method. If you want a more foolproof system, try increasing the size of the container. The size mentioned is only the minimum required.

Theoretically speaking, can the same Hellforge mechanism be used to remove falling lava?

I've got this idea of creating a defensive mechanism using (infinite) lava as something to defend the roofs and walls of the base by continually leaking lava on the roof and prevent it flood the world by using pools of Hellforges with water to counter the lava.

Would that defense system work in the player's favor?

haha, this can be done to have infinite water, but if your character leaves the screen and leave it draining, it will disappear when you go back and check on it. haha, have fun refilling that tank.

When I first encountered this glitch on my singleplayer terraria world all i used was a single bucket of water then it flowed down a failed water multiplier (i put a hole in the bottom of the multiplier) and there was a infinite waterfall, I have just proved your theory to be wrong!

I cant understand how this works, tried to do this in my server, made 25x49 box filled with water, then broke one block in the bottom and waterfall started to fall but water from the box slowly decresed, so this cant be infinite I think, or maybe I need to make bigger water tank, or maybe water will deccress but after a while it wont, I dont know what should happen. btw this is on single player or on multiplaer ?

so if you were to do something like build your house at the bottom of the ocean, and put a waterfall moving from the top of your house (underwater) to the bottom of your house, and then put a pit of lava to destroy the water at the bottom, the ocean would effectively act as the water container and keep your waterfall falling infinitely? or do you need to actually build the giant box?

What would happen if you were to just make a hellhole and let the lava flow down all the way to hell?

Would it just be "full" at some point?

Or would the small amounts of liquid flowing down an incredible height pull some shenanigans on the lava and make it disappear?

@Orillion123456 Yes, it would just eventually fill up, it'll take forever, but it will happen.

@Orillion123456 When you get that much water going down a hellavator, what happens is the water will start duplicating itself after awhile. So you'll have increased water draining down hell. That is around 6000+ moving blocks moving and settling. Your system will LAGG if you do not have a good computer.
