there's an "enhance tuning" effect that comes with garageband that i used. or you can shell out $100 for the official autotune plugin and get the same result as the free one that comes with garageband.

gotta use a plugin called an Autotuner, it'll retune your voice and give you the electronic sounding effect. Antares makes a good one.

tell you what... this is very good. If the guitar was a bit tighter and more in rhythem in the verses it would be nearly perfect. this is the sort of thing that needs to be produced by the big boiz and be released on a global scale. u should aim for a record deal. look up mark ronson, he does the same sort of thing and he is very big. keep it up x

thanks man. the rhythm* of the guitar was recorded to match that of the piano in kanye original song - the piano plays lower notes and then higher notes of the chord, and i matched that rhythm.

and a record deal would be cool, but i just do this kind of thing for fun... i'm still a high school student aiming for good colleges and stuff... music is just a guilty pleasure for me. but i'll check out the guy you mentioned.

i use the "enhance tuning" feature for garageband. just select your audiotrack in garageband and press the scissors button. then move the "enhance tuning" slider all the way to the right and make sure the "limit key" box is checked. i'll probably make a video showing how to do it in the future.

actually, i didn't use antares' autotune on this song; i instead used the "enhance tuning" option in garageband, which is the program i used to record this whole song (and my others).

to use it, you have to make sure your master track is in the correct key (for example, for this, it was in B Minor). then, in your recorded track, click the scissors buton, then drag the "enhance tuning" slider to max and tick the box that says "limit to key". and there you go, free autotune!

it's aight. it's overproduced for a rock cover. keep it to the electric guitar, drums, possibly bass guitar, keep the voice natural. it's 2 soft 4 rock.

i dont see how it is overproduced if a basic rock song usually consists of guitar, drums, and bass. i can see where you're coming from with the voice, but i chose to put the autotune effect on it since nothing else was similar to kanye's version. so i'd figured i'd have at least one thing that tied it back to the original. besides, this wasnt meant to be a hard rock song, just a fun cover of a hip-hop song that i liked. i'm not trying to be metallica here.
