There is a rule about the Best Actors/Actress & Best Supporting Actors/Actress Categories. It basically states that the category that the Actor/Actress gets the most votes, the Actor/Actress goes into that category. Plus, there are 5,880 Academy voters and they vote in the category that they represent, which most of the voters are 60 years old or older.
but i disagree with your opinion on screenplay..the whole concept and execution of the dream within dream and how that all works (especially in the last 45 minutes) imo, gives the oscar to Nolan..but i KNOW kings speech will win because its the type of movie the academy absolutely jerks off to..and i think The Dark Knight is Chris Nolans masterpiece..its a film people will be talking about decades from now
@HonestJakeReviews The structure of the screenplay is immensely impressive, but my gripes are with what actually come out of the character's mouths. In a structural regard, I'm more comfortable with it being nominated.... Blue Valentine still should've gotten it, haha. And I hurried to put everything together, but I absolutely agree about The Dark Knight being his masterpiece.
i agree 100% about Gosling..for me thats the biggest snub as well..they nominate Javier Bardem in a non english speaking movie...if they're gonna do that there is no excuse for not getting Noomi Rapace in there for best actress as she had the best performance by an actress this year...her and Natalie Portman wouldve made for a very interesting oscar night.
It's strange to hear that you feel Nolan held back, unlike the other nominees. I haven't seen your Inception video that came up in the relateds, but I have felt since I saw the film that Nolan's premise is very original, and that his execution was terribly exciting. You said that Nolan's approach "restricted him from doing incredible things", but I feel Nolan set out to make a suspense thriller, not a surreal dream movie. It's not about dreams, it's about accomplishing a job via dreams.
@Janlg10@Glynreaper08 Toy Story 3 was a phenomenal film, but has not won any major awards and isn't as much in the race as The Social Network, The King's Speech [...] to assure any other Oscar besides Animated Feature.
Honestly, to me it doesnt make no sense at all that there are again 10 nominations for best picture. the movie year 2010 wasnt nearly as good as 2009 and its just hollywoods way of saying that they arent touched by the recession.
I think screenplay oscar for Aaron Sorkin isnt a sure think. Toy Story 3 was incredibly written i.m.o.
hmm i just wonder will toy story 3 get best picture as the film really had a deep emotional impact on everyone who saw it plus it had a perfect mix of humor, emotion , action and suspense
As per usual the Oscar nominations are either predictable or include major snubs.
Nolan should have been nominated, end of story. Fact. Who cares if Inception got 8 nods, there isn't nor should there be cutt off point based on how many nominations a film got. Nolan did a MUCH better job than David O. Russell did on The Fighter. I liked The Fighter but aside from the acting there was nothing astoudning about it IMO.
I never saw Blue Valentine...I need to hurry up and see that. I can't believe Andrew Garfield was snubbed on Best Supporting Actor. Scott Pilgrim didn't receive one single nominee! Trong Legacy deserved the nominee for best visual effects...but especially for best original score. I hope Eisenberg wins the academy because he deserves it. Also, no Wahlberg nominee for The Fighter.
Dude you only have like 501 views. Know one really knows you.

I also think Tron's music was incredibly similar to Inception at points.

Fuck you. Inception is a masterpiece. The music as well. Yep, Inception should have own every single nomination it got.

Mila Kunis also should have been nominated.
Nice video!
