Seconded, Firedogie. Someone please correspond. I am trying to design a vehicle mounted fire shelter for nasties like this one. I don't think a jumped up twinkie wrapper is going to do it, and I want to give the vehicle a 5 foot gap all around. FireGregg, thank you very much for posting this video.
I can also add that there was a shelter taken out of its case and applied to the window on the white w/ blue stripe model 14 on the left side of the video. Not fun for anyone involved.
The shelter deployment is at the 2.29 mark in this video, right after you hear "could you pull up a bit,my ass end is burning" a deployed shelter is clearly seen inside the vehicle. this fire could have been a very useful training tool that never was.I was there, and when the fire burned through all these vehicles some very smart firefighters used a remote monitor from inside and put a water curtain in a spot that was later to be acknowledged by the Governor of NV. as a lifesaving move.GOOD JOB
Well its about time that we see most of the burn over. I still can not see the shelter deployment for the Carson City B.C.......But they say there was never a deployment. Yea right. Good job to all you guys....Sad to see if we did pescribe burns on the Toyabie this may not have happend or may have be stopped. A former E7135
