For me they are written right...after what happened last season they have to rebuilt their relationship..all of the parts of their relationship so even the bickering, the funny moments, and their partnership..and they are doing it on the back because the end of season six and the beginning of season seven were around them...and the writers have to make someone else to shine...for example for me even Endgame was an important episode for them...for rebuilt what they had ;)
