I love the cello. It is the only instrument that can weep and mimic the emotions I felt while watching Hidden Dragon Crouching Tiger. Absolutely a great musical piece

I can't get over how much this piece moves me.

I think part of the reason is the merging of cultures that occurs in highlighting the cello.

No it's not. Tan Dun composed the music for both movies, so some of it does sound similar, though I've always felt his best score was CTHD.

I like how chellos have such a deep but soft sound. Personaly violins are my choice of instrument. But for this piece the only way to go is a chello... Thanks for sharing

Thank you - I am flattered, but no, it does not exist on a commercial CD, except in the original soundtrack recording. Funny that you ask, however, because the conductor and I discussed the possibility of recording it not long after this peformance took place. I'll let you know if it ever happens! These kinds of projects always cost money, which musicians never seem to have! :)
