The reason no one but cadillacs was because of cars like the etx or the sts, just look at the numbers. but for the money, BMW's are pretty damn good. The M5 and M6 both go around a track as a fast as a Ferrari F430. Can you say that with any Cadillac? And yes BMW's new designer is quite terrible, but the performance is really good for the money. And if you want Luxury you can get a Benz.

Funny have you heard of the CTS-V challenge or the fact that the CTS is the worlds fastest production sedan. I have owned several BMW's and Benz's and sorry I got tired of the out of warranty cost. I'll take the Cadillac please!!!

Very few cars today excite me. However from an aesthetic point of view. This Cadillac coupe hits all the right notes for me. Other than the new Mercedes SLS AMG which is also stunning. This car conveys a sense of speed, even when it's stationary. Low to the ground, sweeping clean lines, no over hanging. Rakish roof top, little wheel gap. A good looking car should always look like it's lines are in motion. My eyes never gets stuck looking at one place on this car. From concept to production A-

It looks that the designers are trying to hide the engine, with all that plastic covering... Probably because there is nothing new under the bonnet. American auto companies are notorious for changing the design of their cars while keeping the same engines since decade after decade.

Look at BMW's old line up and the current 5 and 6 sereis were all ugly and had bizzare styling, toyota's have always been boring and any car company like scion with the box car design are uncreative ang boring. IT isn't just an american problem but this car doesn't havve a problem.

The to your question is that they don't want anyone tinkering with their engines anymore. Plus, some engine covers are supposed to help with cooling.

They do ruin the look of any engine bay.
