@CristianRav1 Calm the hell down! I was just poking fun although it's the truth. Those are just numbers. It doesn't always mean it will be faster on the track. There's a whole ton of other things going on to make a car fast. Hp and 0-w/e times ain't everything. Even from a numbers standpoint, the Escudo had almost 1000hp. His old Celica was faster up the mountain than the Tacoma. "And you aint smart neither"....you wanna talk about smart? lol.

The 'Range Rover' is a Bowler Nemesis, which is used in various off-road events like the Dakar. I have been to Goodwood for the past 8 years, and the main problem is that not all cars go for a time. Rod Millen always does. I was at the festival that year and all that happened was that the Bowler was only doing a demo run, so simply was caught by the Toyota. The closing speed was massive though! Makes you wonder why the Bowler driver didnt think to speed up a bit when he saw the toyota braking!

I've never seen this version of the film, where he stalls it out off the starting line though. To up the reason why it smokes so much, it runs extremely rich to use fuel as piston cooling; otherwise they would melt. @hydrohuman21 The car is not twin turbocharged at all. It has the an engine from the axed IMSA Toyota Eagle mkIII programme, although some of the ancillaries are most certainly different. It's a 2.1 litre 4 cylinder witha single turbocharger. I've seen the car with the rear bodywork removed at Goodwood Festival of Speed and i have a picture of the engine with most definitely one single turbocharger.
