I need help. I need to have my doctor prescribe hyperbaric therapy to my daughter that has Angelman's Syndrome. A prescription is needed from her primary care physician in order for the insurance company to accept it and begin therapy. I need to provide him with compelling evidence so he feels comfortable in justifying the treatment to the insurance company.
Thanks in advance for any information you can provide me in compelling a doctor to prescribe this kind of treatment.
My wife has rsd and uses a chi machine it also works to raise oxygen levels in the body and costs allot less go to askmara to read her story and view information
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is available in Mississauga, Ontario which is a suburb west of Toronto at Under Pressure Inc, The Hyperbaric Healing Centre. This therapy is FDA/HEALTH CANADA approved for 13 labeled indications. This clinic happily treats two patients at a time which presents a cost saving for the family. 905-274-2032
i had this done when i was 5 and from what my parents said it made a big difference i hope this helps the chld i'm a teen now and apparently my function is way better
My daughter has Cerebral Palsy and I would love for her to have a normal life, but as it is now, she never will. I want to accept that, but I also want it to be better for her. I would have this HBOT done for my daughter in a heartbeat, if I had the finances to do it. She is 10, and in a wheelchair and has limited use to her right hand. Just if we could get her to be more mobile and have more function with her hand would be a huge blessing! It will happen if God has it to be her will. God Bless!
Hi. I'd just like to ask (not trying to be a naysayer): is it possible that your loved ones showed some improvement that was to be expected anyway? That is, many patients do show recovery, especially in certain kinds of strokes. Without a control here, one cannot be sure. Of course, I truly hope that the HBOT is the main reason for the recovery.
I'm very surprised to hear about possible treatment of CP. I have a 5 years old son who has CP and would like to have the same doctors giving this treatment to diagnose him. How can I reach this middle center?
We have a 4 year old son who has cp. After watching this it is hard to believe that it works, when you realize that CP is brain Damage. But anything is possible :)
i dont think it works, i really dont believe the bottom story at all. i know the treatment makes sense but high-dens air doesnt do much only in theory. my brother has cerebral paulsy he's 23 and its really really hard for him. he wishes he had a normal life he wants a girlfriend hes handicapped enough to need constant care but clear-thinking enough to see what he's missing out on. he cant walk and his hands have very poor motor control, he can barely play video games...
I'm sorry that your brother has struggled with needing constant care. I'm grateful that he has you by his side. We can not make a statement that this treatment is for everyone. We can only tell others that it has worked for our son . I give HOPE to you today that your brother will be able to live a happy and by the sounds of it a LOVED filled life with you by his side.
@buddhatikkigod How do you know it doesn't work if you haven't tried it or seen it for yourself. I'm sorry that your brother feels down on himself, but he shouldn't. My 60 year old uncle has cp and is confined to a chair and has to have constant care. He's been scuba diving, has owned several houses, has invented and sold alot of things, has had several girlfriends and is now married and runs his own inn. He can't afford hbot, but I wish insurance would help so he could try and see if it helps.
@buddhatikkigod its not air they breathe its 100% oxygen, air has only 21% oxygen. I'm sorry to hear about your brother, please give hyperbarics a chance.
QUACK??? I worked rehab at a hyperbaric facility with brain injured patients just out of a coma. After months of daily, one hour treatments, there was little to no functional improvement. These families tried hyperbaric treatment after they had exhausted traditional therapies due to a lack of improvement. It was the treatment of last resort; they had high hopes. They were crushed when the treatment failed to help. After 6 months, I quit on ethical grounds. I don't list that job on my resume.
While I have heard of results similar to yours,I can speak of is our own experience. This treatment helped my son in so many ways.Additionally,in the middle of our two months of HBOT,my sister in law had a stroke and had paralysis of her entire right side.We put her in the chamber with my son within 48 hours of her stroke and after just two "dives" all evidence of her stroke was completely gone!! Sure, while I cant technically "prove" that HBOT was the cure, the results seem obvious to me.
Something that you may not realize is that the improvements may not be noticed during treatment. A new standard in research is to compare patients that underwent hyperbaric treatment versus those who did not over a six month period. What has the research shown? That those undergoing hyperbaric treatment outperform those children who do not. Miracle treatment or not... one month is hardly enough time to make judgement with almost any therapy when considering traumatic injuries

There is another good video of someone with Cerebral Palsy by Dr. Bob Segalman on Youtube and the title is "Telephone access for AAC users".
