  • Two Cabs extras? Who's that handsome smiling guy with the cardboard cut out beer he raises at the bar? Bruce Armstrong? ok i'll go now, but not before i play Two Cabs and She Said I didn't fit her Description again :-)

  • Thanks nzoz1981

  • Gold. We used to sing and dance these songs along Acland St. Happy Happy Happy days. (dropped out of school though. ;- l

  • The Toucan club was in Adelaide in the 1970's and 80's The Goodwood hotyel still has a toucan as its emblem

  • local and or general

  • I had Cut Lunch on cassette. Yes. And I still know all the words.

  • Never seen all this before in one run like that. Thanks. Countdown would only play snippets. Totally iconic Melbourne crew, big influence, played the tape till it wore out, many many times/quoted these songs so many many times with arty friends. Still think of them.

  • The Models bring me joy today as they did when l was a young fella

  • Under-rated and underplayed when it came out. Great stuff. Sean Kelly is a hidden Aussie talent

  • This is what happens when one has extensive music taste: Sooner or later you find music that's hard to get like this EP. I could buy a digital version of the album but I really don't like digital versions. Finding an actual copy of this album won't be easy but will be worth it.

  • Wow, this was the most original sounding music of the early 80's. Sean's vocals are really, really, just "different" and that's why this stuff still hits so nicely, I reckon!

  • Oh for the days when we had Holmesford in Chapel Street. It was the best time for Melbourne music

  • Sean never really wanted to sing but someone had to! he can if he wants to but he had attitude! Ah memories of Oban Street South Yarra!

  • Great drinking song

  • Gold

  • 2 Things.

    1. The bit after the 'Get A Job' pictures, really reminds me of the video for Devo's Jocko Homo.

    2. I think Sean Kelly is quite cute.

  • Love this song! Thanks for uploading clip and song.

  • the bushwackers could seriously make their way to the ring by this song

  • This is gold, love this stuff. Thanks!

  • Brilliant to see an early forgotten piece of 80's art rock manifesto!

I was 9 years old when I first saw this and I remembered it on Rock Around the World with..Sasha Bonkowski??

  • @zedovichi Basia (Bankowski?) As in 'Basia a a a " the song about her.

  • Love Models ....

  • Can't beat the old pubs,I saw alot of old blokes like that man in the film clip wearing hats like that.takes me back.my favourite Models song.RIP JAMES Freud.

  • this was the first record my husband ever bought. A piece of history!

  • REST IN PEACE Mr Freud. Really enjoyed watching this Mash up of clips n such..

  • Was this about the big venue in Adelaide? That was a ripsnorter in its day. Think it's a pool room now.

  • Hi too all who read this ,he was a great man with a brilliant mind and sole one of the most ground braking song writer's in Australian music ,80,90s Barbados -modern girl, two cabs to the toucan,Out of Mind, Out of Sight, are in the 80s hall of fame...

make no mistakes about this man with his looks moves and charisma will always be unmarketable brilliant , the hard knocks were never taken lightly

  • Remember watching all this on Nightmoves. Thought it was great then and it's still great. Quirky, funny, awesome indie dudes. Even though he's not in it, it's a sad day today because of James :( Fond memories.

  • Cheers for the memories and RIP James Freud...

  • i'm 16

and this is one of my favourite bands.

  • I got this ep the day it came out ....it was small ...but great.

  • Genius. This is a promo for Models 'Cut Lunch' 10 inch - without doubt up there best recordings from the Models - Man o' Action, Cut Lunch, Two cabs etc brilliant. Never seen this full promo ever. Have seen the initial Two Cabs part though. Without douby one of Australia best post punk recordings alongside Whirlywirld, The Birthday Party, Scattered Order, Thug etc. Sean Kelly growl is brilliant here. Great find who ever posted.

  • Seeing them tonight with Barton on drums. Nirvana banana!

  • @ucicpress Oh yes, wasn't it just! GREAT show.

  • retro awesomeness!

  • The best line up ever for this band.

many happy memories of Models gigs around melbourne!

  • Happy Fuggin' Birthday I.B.M.

  • @frase1234 alpha bravo charlie delta echo foxtrot golf YEAH pogo stick dancing LOLOLOL

  • did anyone tell Sean Kelly he had the best voice of any band of the 80's, possibly not because they all have grissled fungi ingitis col, and its fucking catching

  • happy times...

  • Prior to their commercial fame with Out of Mind out of sight, these guys were cutting edge and ahead of the times. James Freud is a gifted songwriter/musician, sadly he didnt find a vehicle to express his great talent.

  • Love the street inteviews - I had forgotten these! Mark Ferrie has changed a bit.

  • howardmark, adelaide bro

the toucan was in the middle of King William st, hyde park, the hindley st version was after

  • @kcud1962 Dude, my memory of the exact location (of the toucan club) was a little fuzzy, too. I visited it a few times during my year in Adelaide in the early 1980s. Don't think I ever saw the Models there, but I did see them late one night at the Uni in Sydney. Fuzzy memory there, too. Did you ever go to Cloudland (Brisbane)? Saw a big show there with the tall guy and some other bands. The place was demo'd within a year or so after.

  • These guys were just the coolest, The Toucan was a club in my hometown Adelaide, down the Westend of Hindley st. I can remember seeing Andrew Duffield at the Airport and he looked like such a rockstar. The early 80's was such a great period for Oz rock.

  • a little touch of THE CLASH in this tune

  • Gee the Ford dealer in Chapel Street it was so long ago!

  • Look at the classic old digger at :36.... not many of the old boys left.

  • does anyone have a copy of the Cut Lunch EP?

  • Comment removed

  • yep

  • still cant get enough of this...coool

  • love it! I was 15 when this came out .....so glad to see/hear it again .... great quality

  • Thanks for posting. I love it. I still have the poster with all the polaroids on my wall. :)

  • Wacky.

  • this is tooooo fucking sweeeeet

  • Wow. They obviously loved Devo.

  • Oh so lovely!! Whoo!

  • brilliant

  • I used to go and watch them all over Melbourne in the early eightiess, great stuff ,great memories.

  • Did anyone ever tell Sean Kelly he in fact COULDN'T sing???

  • Probably not and thank God for that. I'd much rather hear his grunts than Celine Dion' s operatic-vocal aerobics anyday.

  • tell me, am I the only one who has ever thought "I'd really like to hear Sean Kelly sing the theme from the Love Boat"?? OK, this is sounding weird even just typing it......

  • Oh please! What are you a James 'whine' Freud fan?!!

  • OK, lets get this straight, James Freud had his place, but NOBODY snarled out a tune like Sean Kelly!!! (-:

  • Agreed. Sean was MODEL! ;)

  • @mumpty I'm sure they did. But is that really the point of rock?!

    Long live Models!

  • @mumpty

  • @mumpty

You tone deaf (and boring) cunt. Sean is one of our greatest ever singers/songwriters. A brilliant talent.

  • @123Mipsy - not catering to the sensitive with that comment . . . I agree entirely though, see my previous spiel. Here's to Sean Kelly !!!

  • @mumpty - man !!! That was their allure, noises, growls, groans ad nauseum . . . they were at their creative peak at this point, with no malice intended, Freud only gave them popular appeal . . . never would they regain the artistic and creative genius of their earlier work.

  • @mumpty yeah, i bet you prefer Susan Boyle hey? Now SHE can sing :p

  • @mumpty After listening to Sean's vocals in the song at 2:18 (Is it "Cut Lunch"?) It made me wonder what his influences were. I thought "Sounds a little like some of Andy Partridge's post 1978/1979 live vocals". I looked up Models' Wikipedia page and it says they supported XTC live! (Not sure if that's true or not, Knowing Wikipedia) Andy didn't do vocals like that very often but still, That could be where Sean got that vocal style.

  • Awesome stuff - Cut Lunch EP was way ahead of its time.. love it!

  • Never seen the full Two Cabs clip and never seen any of Cut Lunch! Thanks so much for putting these up along with all the other Models stuff.

  • No worries mate! ;-)

  • they got a nice bet

  • mmmm

  • comment or don't bother.

  • mmmm / I like.

  • cool :-)

    Now I'm happy!

  • no!

  • Reminds me of under age drinking in dingy pubs....glory days.Sad old bitch i am.

  • ta nic...off to me reminiscence too

  • I dunno...I get happy that your a bitch...not sad!

  • @trickynic66 - you are clearly a long way from being a "sad old bitch" .. . .

  • what a find and a half!!!!

  • so ahead of their time .. great stuff

  • had the EP and saw hem live when up in sydney...again as this all say, the 80s had the greatest bands !

  • Thanx for this - it's so difficult to find decent Models stuff - and this is a killer !
