BADASS!!! I remember taking a keg down there, that was a bia!!!! And I gave away a spiderman suit to a dude that jumped off the 60ft ledge dressed in it. Fun times.
Just STFU already dickhead. No one ever claimed that the music wasn't Sublime or implied that Sublime was from Austin. You don't have to "be from Long Beach" to like Sublime. You Cali fuckers are real arrogant, and for what? BTW, Sublime recorded their self-titled album IN AUSTIN, NOT LONGBEACH.
uh huh, and Jesse James of westcoast choppers moved to Austin, but get this, Sublime is still a Long Beach thing, and always will be they were in my buddies garage before they even got big. The whole reggae-ska scene. and talk about arrogance, we just tend to point out things you know is true. All i said was: sublime is from Long Beach...Texas the only state that flies its flag on the same level as the Union. not even the Southeast does that. and you want to talk "arrogance"?
@Rac665 Cali has the "California REPUBLIC" on its STATE flag. But I guess that doesn't count? Come on man, Both of us represent our history and pride or as you call it "arrogance". We can get into a bunch of shit that doesn't matter, or we can just say the hell with it and lets have fun. Who gives a shit where Sublime is from, its a great song/band and a cool video! This is about jumping into a creek. There is a lot of talent from Texas but that too is irrelevant! Cheer up and roll with it :)
I am trying to find this location... I found an entrance to the Barton Creek Greenbelt Trail at 30.249369,-97.795063 if you drop that into Google Maps you will see it. If someone has been there... find the area, right click and hit "Center Map Here" then look at the link... it will have &ll followed by the LAT/LON that would let me find it exactly and get there with my GPS. (Which would be kool!)
I found where I think it is on google earth. Problem is that when I was actually there, I couldn't tell when looking at gmap if it was exact same place.
Best I can tell you is if you are on South Lamar, but just North of 290/Benwhite, look for a Wendy's on the East side of Lamar. Now, across the street should be an apartment complex. The short hike to this spot begins on some trails at the north east edge of the apt. complex. Ask someone in the complex from there maybe?
@askjerry the apt complex you will see here: +30° 14' 24.19", -97° 47' 26.31"
Now, around +30° 14' 30.70", -97° 47' 28.44" is where the spot is. I'm really not sure exactly where looking at it from above tho. But it's all damn close right there in that area. Hope that helps.
@askjerry go to the apartments on south lamar right before 290, i forget the name of them, they are right across the street from golden corral and wendys, near the red lobster and pluckers. anyways go to the swimming pool in those apartments, there is an entrance to the right of the pool, walk down follow the path stay to the right, and shazam your there
@askjerry I found the spot bro, dry as hell. I mean no signs of any water having being there in a while. Good news Hamilton pool is till rockin. I have pics of the exact location. Now just needs a ton of rain!
Just went out there today for a few hours, and then hit up the rock down the way where the water speeds up, to chill.
I'm about 6'5" 225lbs, and on the smaller cliff drop, which I am guessing was 30 ft., I was touching the bottom almost every time.
The landbridge jump is another 20 - 30 ft. above the smaller cliff jump. Not sure if it's safe to jump from there at the moment. We checked it out, but the water was only 8 - 10 ft. deep max, so we decided to pass.
I haven't been out there in a while, but I doubt there is any water right now.. And even if there were, yeah prolly too cold...Maybe this next summer...
Yeah, I heard that about Barton Springs. I planned to go down in the end of September but I was told it would be shut down by then for 9 months. Is that right?
This section is part of the greenbelt. It's dry as a granny's vagina right now tho, and was all last summer :( Located just west of south Lamar, and just a little north of Ben White. There's a Wendy's on Lamar if that helps. The water was clear enough you could see all the way to the bottom (8-10 feet), so it was easy to avoid rocks. Pray for rain so next summer this shit will be poppin again!
I live in hawaii and we got some huge cliffs... This creek looks like fun! I like when the guy did a dive and flipped right when he entered the water. We call that a watermellon bomb in Hawaii. Nice vid...
I can see huge rocks in the water. How do you know where they are and where they aren't? We were Dons in san marcos and my buddy jumped off the riverbank into deep water but there was a huge rock we didn't know was there and he had to where a neck brace for a month.
It's pretty close to where 290 and Lamar intersect...There's an apartment complex across from the Wendy's...We usually make the hike from there..Takes about 15-20 minutes to get there, but there are no city sounds once you do.. it's fucking awesome.
Nice fun!

Is it still too shallow to jump into from the ledges now (early Jan. 2009)?
Is the water too cold to have a good time?
Later.

I haven't been out there in a while, but I doubt there is any water right now.. And even if there were, yeah prolly too cold...Maybe this next summer...
lapezeus 3 years ago
if you consider dry being too shallow.
People consider jumping into freezing cold water fun in some parts of the world so that's up to you.
Barton Springs is stiil kickin though, but I think it will be shut down for months coming up
