  • RKGlass cracks me up!!!

  • is a kiln like 10% neccesarry .. or could i make peices withouit it

  • you definantly need a kiln to anneal the glass properly without making it go through thermal shock. if a part of the piece is thinner than another it could cool down faster causing stress within the glass causing it to crack or shatter

  • @samstrobelight Well if its just to keep it from going through thermal shock and cracking, you think I could just throw my pieces in a toaster oven or boiling oil or something? I am way too poor to afford a kiln and I want to find another way to keep my stuff from getting those little cracks.

  • @sev07pass The problem is you need to get the entire piece to an even 1050F and cool it down at a consistent rate. Otherwise glass cooling and contracting at different rates will cause internal stresses. If you have a 1000 degree toaster oven, it could work... otherwise you'll probably need a kiln.

  • @sgtdoink do you mean 100%? LOL
