the shinigami Gelus AND Rem died to save her their lifespan has been added to hers even though she made the eye deal twice-it wouldnt matter if she made it 5 more times or not. In my opinion since she loved light so much, she should have carried on his legacy(even tho its wrong, i understand both sides) but it also would gave kept the show going. And hey It would b cool if she became a shinigami since her life's so long ?
In the anime Light dies more or less worthily, but in the original(in the manga) he acts much more pathetic:when he realises that he has been revealed and is not able to do a thing,he starts to cry,he cries Misa,Mikami and Takada to help him,but no effect. Then he starts begging Rjuuk to help him.Rjuuk smiles and writes something in his notebook.I think you know what is next.
Poor Light, even if he was a magnificent bastard for the most part. His crying toward 0:38 as his life flashes before him makes him realise he's lost...everything. He's wasted his life killing and ruining others in an attempt to change the world and achieve godhood. He failed, so now he'll die alone, friendless, in a disused warehouse and be remembered only as a serial killer. That sad face at 3:23 says it all.
Then, L appears eye-to-eye to ensure Light won't die alone and I go all teary-eyed.
And sometimes...I feel like Light has a split-personality disorder. Not the parts when he's acting, but when he forgot he was Kira...he was a completely dfferent person. Or perhaps, this simply shows us how power can corrupt.
I don't think Light is really evil or good. H had good intentions, no doubt. But when given too much power, even the most noble of people could become corrupted. As Ohba said, Light isn't good or bad, if he had never encountered the Death Note, he would've probably become on of the most amazing police officer ever. Power corrupts, and the ending in the anime is much better than the manga. Because we see that in the end, he's stil human, he still makes mistakes, and he still lives to regret.
@rinaakhter I never said what Light was doing was right, I just said his intentions were right to start with. I also don't believe that killing anyone solves anything.
I like this over the manga ending. Power corrupts, we can easily see that much, but this ending shows that in the end, he's still human, like everyone else; goes down somewhat in peace (rather than trying ask Ryuk to kill everyone else)
For me it was this scene which really made Light feel human. The whole series he's this magnificent bastard with no regard for morality, driven by his own messiah complex and ego. So much emotion surrounding being kira and the Death Note and all his plans had been hidden behind his mask of quite composure, and this was the first time it really fully slipped. In the end, he was just scared of death like the rest of us
@SamuraiAwesome he did had regard for moral thou. he wanted to kill every criminal, but he saw those who oppose him as evil because they are in some way protecting bad people. his morals are just different, and too be honest, if he didnt killed all these evil, who would?
i don't mean the fact that he died i mean of how he died
well for 1 it should've been L no near
and also it's how how he was caught
he was caught not cuz of his own mistake or miss planning but cuz of some1 else doing the wrong action screwing light's perfect plani mean light out witted L and beat him with his perfect plan it should've at least been light's fault it happened or near's perfect plan and now we can't even say it's cuz he slipped
No. L knew that in order to beat Light he would have to sacrifice himself. The only way to catch Light was to bring him on to the team. L knew that getting close to Light would mean showing his face and his eventual death. But he also knew that it would assure victory in the end.
@punxvidz A plan that relies on others to behave exactly as expected is not a perfect plan. And in this respect Light's plans are gradually more imperfect throughout the series: in the beginning they're simple and workable, but by the end they're so convoluted and reliant on luck that something is sure to go wrong. As always, Light's vanity is his undoing: it's why he uses the death note, it's why he challenges L directly rather than ignore him, and it's why he walks willingly into Near's trap.
Dude WTF!!! I was searching for songs from Death Note, which I am about over halfway through and you put the damn ending of the series in the title!!! Now I know Light dies and doesn't achieve his "perfect world" fuck man, I'm so damn pissed right now
@vegakvd Yeah but all of that points out that Light's goal was predestined to fail from the beginning. He could've succeeded in creating a better world not a perfect world, but he was corrupted with the power he was given. The world is the way it is for a reason, it was made to be shitty because its to inspire more good rather then bad, for if it was the other way around there wouldn't be any point at all. You may not understand but in time you'll learn for yourself.

@123RememberReach Actually it says in the eyecatch that all people when they die goes to nothingness, and it says in the manga that there isn't a heaven or hell.
@TheBarns95 Which is an argument in Watchmen but its harder to argue for Light since he is a giant ass to literally everyone he meets. He changed the world into a religious system in which power granted righteousness which while not a step down from L's world of manipulation and monopolizing elitism is still not better. I totally get people who love Light as a character but the tragedy in this piece is that noone is fighting for the common man, theyre all paper tigers
I personally find it very kind that Light didnt die alone. In the manga he died a crude visceral animal flailing on the ground. In the anime he was granted a quiet death with the only human being who meant anything to him to lead him somewhere else. I would like to think that in this moment Light understood his folly, that a world based on fear of institution or spirit is without love and therefore worthless but in any event I'd like to think the two great minds are finally at peace
@TheBarns95 Light could never have lived in that better world, one of equality and peace. He started this as a bored and ostracized child playing everyone the fool. He would never have been happy even with the title of god. He is avarice incarnate, not to say that L was not also.
At the end of the music at the credits, there is a small piece of music (right at the end) which is a redone version of music from an earlier piece which is used a lot in the series. Could anybody tell me where I could find the original? It would really be appreciated! Thanks!
Such a conflicting Anime. He was such a dick and used people so hard. I didn't even care about him using Misa. But cmon light you faked sadness at your fathers death bed?! Still thought I can't help feel depressed every time I finish Death Note.
I cried the most when I saw this. Because I sympithised with Light. This world is rotting, and though many don't accept it, there is still nothing we can do about it, so we learn to live with. Light was one of the few people, who given the oppurtunity, decided not to live it, and this was what caused his decent from grace, being embraced by madness. Light became the epitome of evil, but in the end, we all show some signs of evil at some point in our lives.
@Nemesis0300 When I say rotting, I mean the things like war(over land, resources etc), the fact that young children are hurt or killed intentionally and sex crimes(pedophile, rape etc). I also never said anything was with death. Death is a normal part of life. Without it would cause over population.
@Nemesis0300 okay then i just fucked your sister and i am still not an evil person its all just subjective it shouldn't even be considered a crime right ? There is GOOD there is EVIL it all matters which side the power is
@TheAgol07 Everything you just said was subjective.
Do you take sides when ants war, too?
You: "There is GOOD there is EVIL"
It's all based on social-opinion; you're a slave to trends, clearly. Saying someone is evil is about as factual as saying that chocolate is delicious. It's all based on your opinion -- if the world forced there opinion down your throat than that's your problem.
@Nemesis0300 I regret or not HELL anyone who does anything wrong mostly DOES not regret ! that just doesn't make him ANY less evil i suppose Label ?? huh that's funny no one would label you as long you don't do Cruel unforgivable crimes ! crimes DO have a limit !
@TheAgol07 Everything I'm telling you is fact, little pathetic man.
I'm beyond good and evil.
There are facts in life that can be measured with instruments and science and there are non-facts that can't.
Good and Evil can't be seen, heard, touched, smelt, tasted, or measured. Thus, it doesn't exist. Lions kill for sport very often, do you consider them evil?
There is no theory here -- you're just a moronic little man.
@Nemesis0300 yep its a fact you a jerk who's trying to be big-ass -_- emotion kills yep it does so wtf does that has to do our discussion ? There is not ignorance island Neither are you a vault of knowledge here on the comments section of youtube ha ha irony ? Mr wise-ass having problems in life ? don't bother me i am not here to waste my fucking time
@Nemesis0300 NAH you're taking everything theoretically but just know one thing Hurting other person without any "fruitful" reason isn't a good thing now i just say "good" because its part of language there is no other way express that particular feeling
Subjective is not "theoretical" and has nothing to do with language.
Subjective means non-factual and based upon opinion.
Also, you know nothing about Evolutionary traits, clearly.
The desire of hurting other people is an impulse for a reason. Most murders occur because of hate and anger; those two traits are there for a reason and have a purpose.
All organisms -big and small- war constantly with themselves and others. Read a book you inane imbecile.
@Nemesis0300 you totally lost me i said you're looking at everything theoretically especially things like good&evil can't be debated theoretically not really murders occurs also in cold blood and by cunning masterminds So you think you're a smart-ass ?? fuck yourself !
you're just one of those emotionless cunts why don't you do yourself and this universe a favour KILL yourself ! subjectively going your heart will stop pumping so one more useless organism DIES XD
@Lightn0x A world like that would be cruel indeed. I believe good and evil exists, but only for mankind. We treat this world as if it were our own to do as we please but we never really stop to think that the animals were long before us.
NO...... NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!!!!!!!! my poor light died............ I HATE YOU MATSUDA!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU KILLED MY TRUE LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!! CURSE YOU MATSUDA, CURSE YOUR PARENTS, YOUR FAMILY, AND THE STUPID GROUND WHO CANNOT STAND YOU LIVING ON!!!!!!!!
I really was in love with light....... AND MATSUDA CRUSHED A POOR 13-YEAR OLD'S FANTASY!!!!! just remember light, I will always love you..... and you will forever be in my heart.........................
All men have Evil in their Hearts, but for many, the Evil is not known to them, and to never surface. Only in the presence of Power is the true nature of Man revealed to them. Regardless of the Man's ethical beliefs or acts of Good Will, the Power that he had obtained will Corrupt and Change him, and he will become the very essence of the Evil within his Heart.
@MilesTailsProwerfan9 The same holds for Light. The Death Note was that very power, and though he wished to use it as tool for his (albiet grotesque) Acts of Good Will...
He became the very Evil he wished to Destroy...
It was the Power of the Death Note that Corrupted Light. If he had never known of its' existence, he would have continued to live a life without knowledge of the very thing that would change him.
Light was such an innocent kid, trying to change the world and make a peaceful world but he became obsessed with the book and rejected the ones who loved him, he was only thinking on himself, but in the end that innocent kid came back as he was running to his death in this final scene, such a beautiful ending, he died as the innocent kid he is, I cried and Light will always be my favorite one.
@Usul573 I didn't spam you btw, you have a point. I can see where you are coming from, but I have a different view, just like output have yours. I also think that it is wrong for people to mark you as spam. This is one of the many reasons that I love this show, everyone sees it in their own way. And please people, don't mark this as spam, or any other people who see things differently. I think everyone should express their opinion, but I will not spam/insult someone for their different view.
I was a Light/Kira fan for a while. Light's original goal, except for the 'god of the new world part", was my very definition of justice, and I thought he was a hero for his actions, most humans would have used the Death Note for selfish reasons, but Light was trying to make the world a better place. But in the end, the evil hidden in his heart won, and he lost his will of good. I was also always an L fan. This WAS THE GREATEST anime that I have ever seen. It touched me personally. RIP Light & L
@Usul573 hey man come on, lets discuss this, i dont want you to think im some jerk with no care for other peoples opinions, you comment earlier was perfectly fine
Note how he just killed off Takada, how he took pleasure in sending some people to their deaths, take a close look at everyone he killed and how he did it.
Someone said that he's no hero, he's sick, and that's he's lost his soul in this essentially.
The scenes where he goes crazy and laughs and his eyes turn red, some of them highlight how bad he lost it.
He was Light, and Kira became his second identity, but then that REVERSED.
If it was sad when he died, then who deserves to die?
Do you really feel justice includes killing all those who make trouble for others? Personally, I don't feel the ends justify the means for killing so many people who are against him and I don't support capital punishment either.
@MrPxxAGaming Have you seen 'code geass' its action packed from start to finish and it falls under the same theme of anime like death note as its very strategic and both protagonists have the same mind set....i think its even better then death note(cause it never gets dull)
@Usul573 Ye i know what you mean but they planned it to be exactly 50 episodes long so they couldn't cover everything still such an amazing anime and the ending was just beautiful!! ;(
That's right, Light. You lost! And let me tell you what you didn't win! A 20 volume set of Encyclopedia International, a case of Turtle Wax, and a year's supply of Rice-A-Roni, the San Francisco treat! But that's not all! You also made yourself look like a jerk in front of millions of people, and you brought shame and disgrace to your family name for generations to come! You don't get to come back tomorrow, you don't even get a lousy copy of our home game! You're a complete loser! [/reference]
Light was stupid and careless at the end - he should never have gone meet N without a backup plan - hell they all were in the warhouse why didnt he write into that scrap of death note he had in his watch that his fellow policemen should kill N and all his companions and then themselves???
Or why didnt he bribe ryuuk with a ton of apples to kill them for him??
He was just overconfident at the end - that was his downfall.
I confess, I'm a fan of Light and what it does! For me his death was a real shock! Light were really justice, God, I hate Ruyk the killing! Near as I hate! And above all I hate all who do not like Light
Light didn't really have the right to kill with the death note, even if they were heartless criminals kill once and it's a ticket o hell He also didn't have the right to become a god when there is already someone who can judge when you will die and when. But he did try to clean the world so R.I.P Light Yagami.
It's just such an unbelievably beautiful tragic ending at the same time, it sorta feels like someone just punched a hole in your soul though or something.
I swear, this sequence, and only a few other scenes like some of Trigun are the only fiction that has even made my eyes water.
Light Yagami is gone that magnificent bastard........
I can't help but think that this shows that even if someone went horribly wrong and murdered people rampantly, that there could be more to them and that we can't judge them, who actually deserves to die?
It's just so sad to see him running knowing that he's going to die, and you tell that he so desperately doesn't want to die.
@Usul573 Ye i agree with you....in his head he thought he was doing the right thing which made him to believe he was invincible. If you think about it he wanted the world to be clear of evil but he went the wrong way about it.(still a sad scene) ;'(
It seems like he realizes that this isn't a game and what life means, life is so beautiful sometimes that you don't appreciate it until it might be too late or something.
He was only 17 when he got the Death Note and everything that it did to him, you aren't even fully developed in your brain until like 25ish or so.
I grinned like a fucking madman when light died.

This is symbolic in these ways-
When Light's old self passes by Light, it sorta symbolizes how his old self passed away
He died in the middle of the stairs, symbolizing how he cant go to Heaven or Hell for eternity
Seeing L symbolizes how L is the real winner in the end.
And this scene makes me cry so much! D': My Light!

Light became the epitome of evil, but in the end, we all show some signs of evil at some point in our lives.
shinigami2loser 3 months ago 37
@shinigami2loser
The world isn't rotting -- there is nothing wrong with crime and death.
Evil and Good are subjective and don't actually exist.
What you call rotting, I call blossoming..
Nemesis0300 1 month ago
@Nemesis0300 When I say rotting, I mean the things like war(over land, resources etc), the fact that young children are hurt or killed intentionally and sex crimes(pedophile, rape etc). I also never said anything was with death. Death is a normal part of life. Without it would cause over population.
shinigami2loser 1 month ago
@Nemesis0300 I rape your sister and its blossoming right ?
TheAgol07 1 month ago
@TheAgol07 Oh what? Because my sister got raped I get decide whether someone is evil or good? It's all subjective.
Nemesis0300 1 month ago
@Nemesis0300 okay then i just fucked your sister and i am still not an evil person its all just subjective it shouldn't even be considered a crime right ? There is GOOD there is EVIL it all matters which side the power is
TheAgol07 1 month ago
@TheAgol07 Everything you just said was subjective.
Do you take sides when ants war, too?
You: "There is GOOD there is EVIL"
It's all based on social-opinion; you're a slave to trends, clearly. Saying someone is evil is about as factual as saying that chocolate is delicious. It's all based on your opinion -- if the world forced there opinion down your throat than that's your problem.
Nemesis0300 1 month ago
@TheAgol07 If you fucked my sister (I honestly wouldn't care, but I will for the sake of argument) I would probably resent you.
But does my disliking you make you evil?
Did you ever do something mean that you regret?
Is it okay for that person to label you evil?
Nemesis0300 1 month ago
@Nemesis0300 I regret or not HELL anyone who does anything wrong mostly DOES not regret ! that just doesn't make him ANY less evil i suppose Label ?? huh that's funny no one would label you as long you don't do Cruel unforgivable crimes ! crimes DO have a limit !
TheAgol07 1 month ago
@TheAgol07 Everything I'm telling you is fact, little pathetic man.
I'm beyond good and evil.
There are facts in life that can be measured with instruments and science and there are non-facts that can't.
Good and Evil can't be seen, heard, touched, smelt, tasted, or measured. Thus, it doesn't exist. Lions kill for sport very often, do you consider them evil?
There is no theory here -- you're just a moronic little man.
Go back to ignorance island.
Fun Fact: Emotion kills; it rarely saves.
Nemesis0300 1 month ago
@Nemesis0300 yep its a fact you a jerk who's trying to be big-ass -_- emotion kills yep it does so wtf does that has to do our discussion ? There is not ignorance island Neither are you a vault of knowledge here on the comments section of youtube ha ha irony ? Mr wise-ass having problems in life ? don't bother me i am not here to waste my fucking time
TheAgol07 1 month ago
@Nemesis0300 for you evil doesn't exist ? that's impossible there is black and white so there are people who are cruel and heartless
TheAgol07 1 month ago
@TheAgol07 Cruel and heartless are adjectives no different than courteous and loving.
They're opposites, but the choice wouldn't exist if you weren't supposed to do one.
It's like labeling chocolate milk as evil - and labeling white milk as righteous.
It's all based upon subjective opinion.
"There is black and white"
Yes there is, and both are plausible shades.
Nemesis0300 1 month ago
@Nemesis0300 NAH you're taking everything theoretically but just know one thing Hurting other person without any "fruitful" reason isn't a good thing now i just say "good" because its part of language there is no other way express that particular feeling
TheAgol07 1 month ago
@TheAgol07 Are you a fucking moron?
Subjective is not "theoretical" and has nothing to do with language.
Subjective means non-factual and based upon opinion.
Also, you know nothing about Evolutionary traits, clearly.
The desire of hurting other people is an impulse for a reason. Most murders occur because of hate and anger; those two traits are there for a reason and have a purpose.
All organisms -big and small- war constantly with themselves and others. Read a book you inane imbecile.

you're just one of those emotionless cunts why don't you do yourself and this universe a favour KILL yourself ! subjectively going your heart will stop pumping so one more useless organism DIES XD
TheAgol07 1 month ago
@shinigami2loser
If there were no evil in this world, how would you define "good"? Good and evil are relative to each other and without one the other couldn't exist ..
Could you imagine a world in which if you did some minor crime in a moment of panic you would die despite anything you had done before?
Lightn0x 1 week ago
@Lightn0x A world like that would be cruel indeed. I believe good and evil exists, but only for mankind. We treat this world as if it were our own to do as we please but we never really stop to think that the animals were long before us.

MilesTailsProwerfan9 3 months ago
@MilesTailsProwerfan9 The same holds for Light. The Death Note was that very power, and though he wished to use it as tool for his (albiet grotesque) Acts of Good Will...
He became the very Evil he wished to Destroy...
It was the Power of the Death Note that Corrupted Light. If he had never known of its' existence, he would have continued to live a life without knowledge of the very thing that would change him.
Evil can never die.
For Evil is everywhere, and within us all.

RIP Light & L

jakevenom24 4 months ago
@jakevenom24
Sure whatever you want to discuss about it.
I've said all I have to say for now I guess.
Jeremy Irons has a video where he argues against the death penalty that I found to be pretty good also.
Just having the Death Note shouldn't allow Light to be totally above the law and have the right to judge people like he did I think.
Usul573 4 months ago
@Usul573

Oh yeah, I removed my comment to rewrite it also.

Do you really feel justice includes killing all those who make trouble for others? Personally, I don't feel the ends justify the means for killing so many people who are against him and I don't support capital punishment either.

Denorius01 4 months ago
I confess, I'm a fan of Light and what it does! For me his death was a real shock! Light were really justice, God, I hate Ruyk the killing! Near as I hate! And above all I hate all who do not like Light

Light didn't really have the right to kill with the death note, even if they were heartless criminals kill once and it's a ticket o hell He also didn't have the right to become a god when there is already someone who can judge when you will die and when. But he did try to clean the world so R.I.P Light Yagami.

Usul573 4 months ago
@Usul573 Ye i agree with you....in his head he thought he was doing the right thing which made him to believe he was invincible. If you think about it he wanted the world to be clear of evil but he went the wrong way about it.(still a sad scene) ;'(

It seems like he realizes that this isn't a game and what life means, life is so beautiful sometimes that you don't appreciate it until it might be too late or something.
He was only 17 when he got the Death Note and everything that it did to him, you aren't even fully developed in your brain until like 25ish or so.
