  • what could be more beautiful...

  • In this version the part when they sing Gloorr-or-or-or-orrrrrrrrrrrrr - ria is how it's supposed to be sung. In some versions they seem to add an extra Orr in straight after Gloorr. If you listen to different versions you'll know what I mean. The way they sing it here has always sounded much better to me.

  • This is such a beautiful and hearfelt rendition and the children look so eager and wide-eyed that it makes me very sad to think that it was children just like these that were molested by church clergy.

  • Wonderful carol, we sang this at Mass on sunday, and it was wonderful.

  • beautiful

  • Bravissimi

  • this is really beautiful

  • You're all wrong.

    Gold is for command officers,

    Blue is for science officers,

and Red is for engineering and security.

  • I sang this song in my choir!!! I sung the highest melody...

  • Does anyone know why some of them are wearing medals?

  • @harrietgate They will be RSCM (Royal School of Church Music) awards. Look up "RSCM Voice for Life" on Google.

  • @cantorisdecani

The medals have nothing to do with the RSCM in their case. Red = Head Chorister

Blue = Deputy Head Chorister and Yellow = 'Singing Boys'. There will be a few with no medal yet in Year 5

The medals are 'Winchester' medals. Very few cathedrals, if any, take part in the RSCM schemes.

  • @cantorisdecani

They're a professional cathedral choir, they're not RSCM affiliated. The medals themselves arent RSCM medals.

  • i distinctly hear them singing:"most highly flavourd gravy" ! (^_^)

  • I'm singing in this choir!

  • @Portbags

    beautiful

  • im singing this in my choir.

  • This christ mas morn, I listened to this song many 10 times and am more deeply touched each time. It is absolutely beautiful... So wonderous and amazing to think of the sheer power of an angel, his descent to earth with a message of love, peace and hope...

It humbles one who knows the magnitude of our Father...

    Peace to all for 2010..

  • This beautiful carol causes me to think about what it must have been like when Gabriel delivered his message to Mary.

  • I absolutely loved it. Such a pretty song, and the choir did a great job. 5/5

  • we sing this in my school choir =w= probably one of the very few songs we sing in chapel i like.

    so beautifully sang

  • This lifts your spirit, nobody can fail to be moved by the beauty of this carol

  • wow nice

  • christmas is comin uppp

  • Es melodia... dada por Dios para ser exaltado... muchas bendiciones para cada uno de los jovenes que hacen parte del coro....

  • johan sebastian bach said that music should only have two purposes- the exaltation of god and the restoration of the soul. My soul is restored when I listen to this song. thank you.

  • In general I'm an atheist but when I hear music like this I do wander... where does this beautiful music come from?

  • I am a believer, but I love the candor in your comment. Keep wondering, keep searching never stop asking, My questions may be different, but I always explore and ask.

  • Music is one of the most beautiful phenomena of the Universe.

  • @optimatus

Truer words have never been spoken. I couldn't agree more. Merry Christmas.

  • Whoa!!!

  • This is one of my favourite carols. Personally, I'd take it a tad faster, but you can't do that in a cathedral with a long reverberation time. Aren't they just totally beautiful! Thank you, Winchester.. a lovely one to watch at Christmas.

  • sublime.

  • They capture the essence of this song! Truly this melody is exquisite! Singing it is also an amazing experience.

  • does anyone know the name of this particular harmony (if there is one?)

  • It's usually Edgar Pettman's. Don't have the music though to check how his sounds exactly.

  • @namf2807 - I believe it is John Rutter's arrangement of the ancient Spanish carol.

  • This is a most beautiful Christmas carol and this has to be one of the purest, heartfelt, angelic renditions I've ever heard of this song. Brilliant.

  • I totally agree

  • Absolutely beautiful.

  • This is well done

  • and i was redeemed!

    Gabriel is watching *AND* GUIDING!

  • fantastic!

  • I love this piece!

  • very well done

  • Magically beautiful, touching performance

  • Dear God!! This actually made me CRY. God bless those boys! What a gift!

  • God gave us "snips and snails and puppy dog tails" - with absolutely beautiful voices!

  • Watching this makes me miss singing in my highschool choir, I love this sound...

  • really a wonderful christmas carol! it's funny -but good!- to see that boys are, in the age of computers and television, still prepared to sing in choirs. and it sounds superb!

  • i can't stop listening to this.

  • Beautiful.

The director is Dr. David Hill, He also made wonderful recordings with Westminster Cathedral Choir and St. John's College Choir.

  • Really good!

  • Beautiful
