  • i just bought it! i cant wait to use it. probably about 2-3 days!

  • _____Wow! I could survive World War IV with THAT bad boy! The sturdy blade can be used to fend off killer mutants and pry the weapons offa old alien robo-tanks. Then I could use the weapons to start a fire to cook and EAT said mutants. Stick that thing in the side of a rock cliff and suspend a hammock off it, and NOBODY will find ME when I sleep. Then it'd be an awesome way to catapault a killer meteor back into space to defeat the space freaks that started the war in the first place!

  • I live in Brazil paid $ 2,000 in freight knife and says? mbtennis17?

  • fire starter??? its called flint and steel

  • @TheExcitos It isnt flint and steel man... Flint and steel was a method used widely for firestarting many years ago. Flint and steel means a flint rock combined with some sort of high carbon steel. Get your shit straight its called a ferrocerium fire starter

  • so how does this compare to the LMF II?

  • @TheCulexus Lol the LMF2 is one of the best survival knives that I've ever used. This knife feels like fucking plastic compared to the LMF2. This blade is way overpriced, way overpriced. It's not a fucking survival knife. Get the Gerber LMF2, don't waste money on this shit.

  • @ForTheFutureOfMusic - I have both the LMF II and this knife, and to be honest they are very similar in my opinion. I'll admit I'm not a huge Gerber fan - I got them in trade - personally I'd prefer my SOG Seal Pup, but the Gerber knives are ok, and I don't see any real issues with either one. By the way I like your name.

  • @Fretfeeler Thanks. The Gerber LMF II is IMO one of the best survival knives built. On the other hand the BG Ultimate survival knife is a cheaper version of it and will do & work well in an emergency situation, but I wouldn't use it as my primary knife :) Personally, I wouldn't use a SOG Seal Pup for survival, as there are better options in that price range. But that's just my opinion. Don't mean to insult you or anyone else. Thanks for the compliment :D Dont get me wrong, I love SOG :P

  • I got mine in Australia for $60AU

  • @FunkteonRecordings Yeah prices here are jacked up

  • I bet if they sold this in Australia it'd retail for about $300

  • I wish i had this knife. Looks pretty good.

  • you sharp the serated side with that side are you nuts ? that destroys the seration pretty much.

  • Yah serrations suck

  • @tmaloney71 why?

  • For those who didn't like the serrations; Gerber finally released a version of this knife WITHOUT the serrations! (thank god for that!)

  • What is the half part at bottom that look like saw or teeth for?

  • yours is the recalled version the recalled version has the thin orange spacer above the pommel, like yours. send it to gerber they will give you new one.

  • im gonna hammer your mom in the wild

  • cost 30 bucks at mijers grea knife they fixed the bottem

  • i gave mine away if that says anything about the knife

  • its a good knife becuse of Gerber...

not because of Mr. Bear's photo on it....

  • you are a fagit ass cunt and have no qlue on how to sharpen a knife

  • @waderobertsNChunter1 Damn calm the fuck down. Are you on your period? #uMad bro?

  • @XboxFanForLife cunt fuck you call of duty fagit wannbe bitch now i got that said jest learn how to sharpen a knife and try not to look so bad on vid... fuck

  • @waderobertsNChunter1 As I said before, calm down. Take some aspirin, that should make the cramps go away. Maybe sleep a little? Then HOPEFULLY your pms should go away.

  • What website?

  • Does the sheathe allow for horizontal attachment to your waist belt?

  • @inamonianim yep it does

  • Comment removed

  • I think it's funny how much crap knives get these days. Stainless vs carbon, etc etc. In the end, we should be happy that we have such options and don't have to stick to shaped rocks like our ancestors did. Whether anyone likes it or not, Bear Grylls IS a survival expert and his products are worthy of taking into the wild.

  • @uraniumjoe Survival expert my ass he was caught in multiple hotels during shooting times hes no more of a survival expert then my mother.

  • @CatchMyThrowingKnife ...So sleeping in a hotel disqualifies his knowledge? Hmm, sounds like you are either jealous, or you just don't like him as a person. He shows you how to survive in these conditions, plain and simple. It would be one thing if he said that he was by himself and only slept in the wild, but does he ever say that? No. Bear claims that he will demonstrate survival skills, and that's what he does.

  • It's a gimmicky knife made of cheap Chinese steel. I'd rather have a Gerber 06 Auto or Manual which are quality knives make of quality steel.

P.S. If you need the survival guide you're going to be S.O.L. in an actual survival situation, but you can always give yourself a birdshit enema like bear.

  • tatical knife lol

  • The knife is shit. Stainless steel knives can't hold an edge, the compass breaks if you drop it, and it's expensive. For that price you can get a diamond impregnated blade, with all the shit this knife has, and a waterproof compartment that comes with steel matches and a flint rod, AND a sharpening kit. Y'all dig?

  • @DoctorFreeman97 Theres no compass on this knife. WTF are you talking about?

  • @DoctorFreeman97 No. With a few exceptions (such as Cold Steel), hollow handled blades are not worth it because it is more prone to snap than a full-tang fixed blade, like Bear's. I say "hollow handled" because you said "waterproof compartment that comes with steel matches and a flint rod," which suggest a hollow handle. Now, I don't own this knife, but my brother does--and I would think twice before I bash it.

  • Can you imagine someone lost in the wild, pulling out the survival guide to read it? :D

  • I just sat here and watched you take 3 min to regurgitate what bear grylls said about this knife in a minute and a half :S

  • Dude I shoveled like 10 driveways to buy this knife for my cousins birthday and he said he went in his woods (54 acres) and tested it out and said it didnt hold up very well also meaning it sucks :(

  • @KillCapjohns Your cousin is an asshole. That was nice of you.

  • Stainless doesn't hold an edge worth crap, and you obviously don't know what your talking about because you can't sharpen serrated edges with a flat diamond impregnated surface

  • Survival guide... Yep that's the first thing I use for kindling in an emergency.

  • this knife doesn't sharpen very well at all

  • Much of what I've heard about this knife is negative. I've heard that Gerber is addressing the problems and that the second generation version will be much improved. If you're interested in this knife, I would hold off for awhile, at least a year. I would contact Gerber and ask many questions before buying one.

  • the string with the whistle on it broke already on mine :(

  • This knife is crap.

  • not a bad knife... except it's a Gerber.

  • damn i wanna go to dicks sporting goods

  • How much $ is it ?

  • @25trajcer It cost me $54.95 at Dicks Sporting Goods.

  • @mbtennis17 its cheaper in walmart, yes! walmart has it for $39.99

  • @mbtennis17 dicks lol xD

  • @mbtennis17 Man, it's a bargain in the States! In Australia it's about $120.00

  • I can be often found, hammering stuff in the wild.

  • @ThisAintNews You might need it for walnuts, who knows, always good to have something to use lol.

  • only con Made In China

  • i would buy this knife because of it's sheer thickness, that tells me that this can cut a few branches without it bending or snapping on me

  • Do you like Man Vs. Wild? Stop by and watch Manley Vs Wild rapidly growing in popularity its an outdoor survival show with a comedy twist. Stop by and watch, like, comment, and share the video

  • for starters, you don't really need to sharpen serated knifes and when you do you certainly don't use a flat diamond stone.

  • @survivorman0824 You can sharpen serrated blades in the field with a flat stone if they are of the chisel ground type. It'll only sharpen the points but it will certainly improve the cutting power and get you by for a while.

I don't know what kind of serrations the Bear Grills knife has as it was not clear from the video.

  • @Stigstigster i was going to say that thank you.

  • @survivorman0824 haha thank you i was looking for someone to say something about that, jeeze :P

  • Of course a hardcore survival knife has a rape whistle for everyone to hear if you get raped x)

  • lovek1313 your an idiot

  • stuck in the wild, what to do what to do, oh ya hammer stuff

  • Cool!

  • that is a really useful pocket guide - but unless im wrong, its not waterproof - when im in real need of a survival knife, im usualy wet through - perhaps youre supposed to memorise it.

  • wow this is a very handy package... i wish the blade was a little bigger tho...

  • you may say you recommend this, but i had one, the blade was very brittle for a $50 knife. i would expect more form gerber.

  • yo kiero uno no se sabe cuando se va a nesesitar

  • does it come with piss

  • Tu Polacy przejmujemy ten filmik

  • DIAMOND????????WTF??!!

  • @lovek1313 Industrial diamond ofcourse.

  • Could you do another video and maybe cut thick rubber? Or something that could represent animal skin?

  • Thank you for showing the knife. I was interested in buying the knife and now i´m going to do.

Obrigado por mostrar a faca. Eu estava interessado em compra-la e agora eu vou fazer isso.

  • This knife blows. You can't sharpen serrations. The steel blows.

  • better drink my own piss

  • you cant sharpen a serated bit of the blade on that only the solid edge O.- but otherwise good review would like to see it fether a stick and make a fire with the steel

  •

Of course you can sharpen a serrated blade and there's a million fucking videos on how to do it lawl.

  • @CragScrambler not on that dimond stone its flat you would need a diffrent kinde of sharpener than the one on the ultimate knife shieth

  • "... i could get this out of here... but maybe later"

  • So.. i got one of these when they first came out, and felt like such a badass. Until i tried to use the pommel steel part as a hammer, as was its intended use. Long story short, i was out on 55 dollars, had a broken knife, and a bad attitude..

  • Great, in depth and thorough review. My wife bought me the blade off your review for me as a Christmas gift.

  • Its very good knife (or it looks very good),but who wants to carry this knife on the wrist and whistle around with it...:)

  • z tyłu chodzi pies

  • LOL u dont sharpen the serrated edge! DUMBFUCK!!

  • I broke my moms lighter the took the flint out of it then scraped a knife against it in front of her. She yelled at me :'(

  • This or LMF II ASEK?

  • @daaskapital1 lmf2 this is china shit and it looks gimmicky go with the original

  • @gibbono111111 Sweet. Thanks for the reply mate. I was leaning towards the LMF2 anyway, because it looks heavy duty. Thanks again mate

  • is it full tang??

  • i don't know if you know this or not but if you got yours for Xmas 2010 its a old model were the pommel easily breaks

  • My dog started barking when you blew on the whistle lmao.

  • Very impressive looking survival knife..thankyou. Do you find the serrated part of the edge useful or would a fully straight be better?..

  • i just oredered it ^^

  • u dont know anything about knives kid u bought that at walmart for 40 bucks shitty knife

  • how much did it run ya ?

  • The knife isnt actually that bad, but theres too much serration to the amount of belly they leave you with. Not a lot of room for slicing.

  • Dear Santa. ...

  • Protection - Please

    Rescue - Remember

    Water - What's

    Food - First

Straight from the Bear Grylls book ;D

  • i just shoplifted mine today

  • wat's your deal? get a job d..head

  • The blade is actually made of high carbon stainless steel. nice accent by the way.

  • if you're lookin for a piss joke...

    URine luck

  • The hollow grind makes the tip break easily. I'd prefer a convex or scandi grind

  • @Grungadin Alright, I respect you in the sense that you didn't insult me. Thanks for spreading knowledge my way, you are an awesome person!

  • they selling my favorite tool?

    better drink my own piss!

  • hey i would like to know how to use the sharpener could you make a video and message me if u do. or direct me to a video just message me thanks

  • is it a bushcraft knife

  • @XxH3LLsB3LLsxX no gerber

  • @XxH3LLsB3LLsxX It's called a survival knife, but it can be considered a Bushcraft knife also.

  • Remember, before you use this knife is vital that your drink your own piss

  • @ThePeppermintSlice what the hell is with the comment. if you dont have any thing of use to say. dont comment.!!!

  • @ThePeppermintSlice Oh yeah. I forgot about that

  • @ThePeppermintSlice Thank-God i bought this knife to cut off my tongue After drinking my own piss...

  • @ThePeppermintSlice lmao that's funny

  • The fact the sharp-stone is integral is brilliant and I love hardened hammer-like pommel . Firesteel = brill and instructions are a nice touch.

    But:

That whistle would get in the way.

Stainless steel is harder to sharpen so energy would be wasted

Also, why serrated? you have less of a cutting edge and if the blade is sharp, you shouldn't need them anyway.

And the biggun, what happens if you need quick knife access and you have to fumble with the velcro. What good is that?

  • @BEFIREFLY I just leave the velcro off on mine, the kydex sheath holds the knife fine.

  • MADE IN CHINA= PIECE OF CRAP

  • @sebass12346 not true. MOST things made in Chine are shit, but this is an exception. fireworks originated in Chine, and they're pretty.

  • @TheDudelikeCrackers Lol, just about anything is made in China these days! And it won't get any better I think....

  • every time i watch this i fell i want to kill zombies.

  • I would love to see you or anyone over the age of about 3 get their wrist through that lanyard!

  • Thumbs up if anyone saw the dog in the end

  • @jestersxdance Haha. Yeah i didn't really notice that before.

  • How much does it weigh? If you are going to be carrying it that is important.

  • @JamesPliny It weighs around 14oz with the sheath. It is a bit heavy and i might get i lighter knife similar to this such as the SOG Seal Pup.

  • dollar ?

  • does it help me drink my own piss?

  • @yourmomwasherelol LMFAO!That comment made my day.Thanks!

  • @yourmomwasherelol Yes, actually it does.

  • greattt!!!

  • they must of been stoned when they designed this for one that fire steel will wear out and woulent hold in that upside down and why would it be water proof its a ferro rod its the whole point it can get wet, your suposto sharpen the serations on that flat dimond stone seams like a bitch and a half lashing points so your going to tie your only cutting tool to a stick sounds like a deadly mistake in a survival situation, velcro really like that isent going to wear out.

  • Rip off.

  • Comment removed

  • @MrDiem2 We don't, no one babysits Israel. The U.S. needs Israel just as much as Israel needs the U.S. We Israeli's are famous for the world's best and most accurate intelligence, world's best SF and we're the only people in the region with a stable nation whose life long goal dating back 5 millenia ISN'T to annihilate our neighbors every chance we get. Despite having the best military personal on Earth, Arabs outnumber us by roughly 75:1. Every time an Arab country acts up, they're owned.

  • @seventhSabra Why does the U.S. NEED Israel?

  • @hampsterMSR You're not the brightest bulb in the box are ya.

  • When you use the lighter does it do any damage to the blade?

  • @feakshowonwheels no because your lighting it on the back of the blade

  • @jsrl77 yes but what about on the back?...and thanks

  • @feakshowonwheels No it just makes a dark smudge which can be wiped off immediately

  • @mbtennis17 What do yuo wipe it with? baby wipe? paper towel?

  • @feakshowonwheels if your going to be using the knife properly then thats the least of your worryies

  • that sharpener is not for serrations like you said, like at all...

  • You definitely aren't going to sharpen the serrated edge with that flat stone....

  • I don't think it is a horrible knife for the price but i wouldn't ever buy one for 2 reasons #1 all the Bear Grylls logo all over his products. The 2nd reason is I hate serrated knives. I wish you could buy one without. I stick with my Kabar, Cold Steel Srk, or an Ontario knife for about the same price.

  • i think i'm gonna go pick one up, and some piss.

  • @seventhsabra the thing is though, is that they don't even allow the younger scouts to have fixed blades with them.

  • can this knife produce PISS ???

  • @TheCandianGuy28 no ... BUT I WISH IT DID :D

  • @saiaddict ahahha just buy it yesterday man it feel great to have bear grylls at my side and the flint works great take me 4 try and there was a fire :P

  • @TheCandianGuy28 cool :)

  • @lonepantherkmt and fuck you too. It's a knife review not a political discussion.

  • Where did you get it from?

  • it' shitty plastic (i'm working in plastic valley) i can tell you,if you look for a good gerber knive go to a big rock model (big piece of metal)for half price...this plastic knive is for childrens...now i tell you why: EVERY kind of plastic even it's cold DON'T support shocks, excepts some very expensives nylon nearly 80$ by kilo;here the plastic is a basic polypropylen 5$ by kilo ...DON'T use the talon as a hammer because it's NOT a full tang, the metal piece back is an insert !!!

  • i find it funny when people do these kind of reviews, when they can't even do something as simple as blow a whistle properly lmao!

  • you recommend the knife to anyone? how about my 5 year old cousin? XD

  • im getting one today its pretty good knife

  • I bet you run like a welshman

  • thats an amazing knife

  • i wrapped 550 cord on mine and everything works fine still

  • i paused this video went to dicks bought one came back and sat there watching the rest of the video attaching it to my belt can't wait to use it

  • I WANT THAT KNIFE!!!!!!!!!
