I like the UFC & Pride. I do agree that the UFC favors takedowns (pts) & laying on top of a guy. Thats why Matt Hughs was so successful. Pride rules did make the fights more dynamic. In the UFC, your BJJ & wrestling has gotta be sharp or you'll end up on your back for 15mins & make a boring fight.

Judging is an unavoidable conclusion in some cases, because then you end up with fights that go on too long and the fighters get tired and sloppy and only a fighter like Diaz can win. I wish they could, but a fight can still become boring if the fights are allowed to resume that long. Boxing has 12 - 15 rounds and they still go to decisions. MMA fighters expend alot of energy in a 15 minute fight. Judges unfortunately are a necessity.

@callum93edluk I remember when I first started smoking and playing Counter-Strike at the same time, everything was moving slowly from my normal perception. That means my brain was working faster. Like I said to the other top comment, it basically blocks out a lot the stupid bull going on in your brain and helps you focus. It also relaxes you, which is a huge advantage to a fighter, as a tense fighter is usually a losing fighter. You can go overboard and use too much and burn out however.
@callum93edluk Also, it is a painkiller, I could work out in the hot sun in the scaffold yard I used to run nearly non-stop because I never felt any pain in my muscles. I would feel it in the morning before I'd begin though. I won't say it's a total wonderdrug with no downsides, as it is harder for me smell things...which could just be due to resin in my nostrils when I do smoke. Also, my memory isn't at 100% which could just be due to a lack of oxygen taking huge hits.

Sure, there are people who just get lazy when they smoke it...but those people are lazy without it as well. About a decade ago when I managed a Blockbuster, I would smoke before any big inventory or when we'd have to reorganize the movies, and it helped me stay on task. It will basically block out all the bullshit that's on your mind and let you stay in the moment.

it's a tough call because, in a "real fight" (that doesn't get broken up when it hits the ground), if a guy decides to hold you down, there's no ref to pull him off. i think the ufc has been good about the stand-up rule, as well as putting the pressure on the fighters behind the scenes by saying boring fighters won't get as many fights. still, i think there should be a definitive number of seconds for inactive time in a dominant position, kinda like the nba shot clock rule

Unfortunate that the UFC cannot adopt the Val Tudo aspect. But all MMA is still a business and if people were not wearing gloves the fights end real quick. Not much of a show to some, but a true test of a fighter's ability.

At the end of the day marijuana isnt known to be a performance enhancing drug in any other sport. Can you imagine a boxer high while fighting, their is no advantage.

@callum93edluk I remember when I first started smoking and playing Counter-Strike at the same time, everything was moving slowly from my normal perception. That means my brain was working faster. Like I said to the other top comment, it basically blocks out a lot the stupid bull going on in your brain and helps you focus. It also relaxes you, which is a huge advantage to a fighter, as a tense fighter is usually a losing fighter. You can go overboard and use too much and burn out however.

@callum93edluk Also, it is a painkiller, I could work out in the hot sun in the scaffold yard I used to run nearly non-stop because I never felt any pain in my muscles. I would feel it in the morning before I'd begin though. I won't say it's a total wonderdrug with no downsides, as it is harder for me smell things...which could just be due to resin in my nostrils when I do smoke. Also, my memory isn't at 100% which could just be due to a lack of oxygen taking huge hits.

Sure, there are people who just get lazy when they smoke it...but those people are lazy without it as well. About a decade ago when I managed a Blockbuster, I would smoke before any big inventory or when we'd have to reorganize the movies, and it helped me stay on task. It will basically block out all the bullshit that's on your mind and let you stay in the moment.

it's a tough call because, in a "real fight" (that doesn't get broken up when it hits the ground), if a guy decides to hold you down, there's no ref to pull him off. i think the ufc has been good about the stand-up rule, as well as putting the pressure on the fighters behind the scenes by saying boring fighters won't get as many fights. still, i think there should be a definitive number of seconds for inactive time in a dominant position, kinda like the nba shot clock rule
