I absolutely love the blatant inspiration from Saturday Night Fever. I loved disco before it got this trendy, when it was really still a NYC club thing. When it got to this point and filtered out into middle America it became tarnished like all good things that get stolen by the mainstream.
Colleen Zenk Pinter who plays Barbara Ryan on "As The World Turns" is the lead dancer with the long brunette hair...this was the same year she joined ATWT...
if it werent for disco, the "break-dance" era wouldnt have existed...this commercial proves the the impact disco had on pop culture....you had to be there to really experience it, if you werent, you missed it......period
Actually the way the world entertainment runs, the 60s dance style era gradually merged to give rise to disco; the latter which later merged into the breakdance era. I experienced the disco era as well with its music-dance styles. It was good. But the breakdance era was more fun and adventurous and 'extreme', also with its mufty costume styles and other 'dance outfits'. People who rather choose the 'disco era' are probably emotionally tied to the old skool nostalgia styles they once experienced.
its a matter of opinion to state the break-dance era was more fun, i dont agree....its not about old school nostalgia, its about the music itself, disco was just better produced musically, better melodies, they were real songs with choruses, verses and bridges, 70s disco used real instruments, 80s dance music started to get to "electronic" and "cold", they used fake strings on productions, all the sounds were computer generated for the most part, 80s dance music had no feeling.....
Well, yep! it's a matter of personal choice or opinion. I prefer the breakdance era to the disco era beacuse of the serious various dance moves, electronic techno-dance tunes to match, fashion costume outfits, 'custom made' breakdance films and movies and the fact that brakedance was relatively 'portable and simple' to start or do (anywhere whether at school, inside or outside environments). It was more (to me) like an extreme 'sport' and more like an exercise fitness activity than disco moves.
everything about the late 70s was disco. i was a little kid in Manila, i remember watching a TV show called "Dance Fever" during Saturday afternoons. we should bring back the disco era.
Man I wonder how much those bottles could be worth? I mean gosh I would love to have them. I am glad disco is so gone. No offense to those who like it.

They should bring back glass bottles. Much easier and efficient to recycle. just through them out of the car window along with the beer bottle.

Disco didn't die....it simply morphed into several new genres. The legacy of disco is much more amazing than many assume.

Disco is the most important thing in the universe. you dnt have to know how to dance, you just have to let yourself go. Let the music move you.

I miss 7UP, I don't know why they had to change the formula, it didn't work for Coca-Cola, they need to give me back the UnCola.

Disco was the best music ever. Now what it evlved into during the 80s was crap (with elctric drums and pre-recorded techno music).

Another classic commercial they did around this time had a song called, and I'm not joking, "Feelin' 7up".

Hehe. I remember those "Feelin' 7Up" commercials. They used sports celebreties like John McEnroe, Sugar Ray Leonard and Wayne Gretzky.
