  • chill.... as in the saying, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder... tastes/preferences r subjective n vary from individual to individual. i would actually be surprised if more than 80% of the world's population enjoy Chinese flute music.

  • There's something mystic about the chinese music, but on the other hand, it's past and traditions are full of mysteries, at least for western people. The women playing in this video are music magicians in my opinion. There os absolutely nothing more beautiful than this.

  • 14 people have no culture, are tone deaf, and/or racist

  • @fuzzytetra32308 make that 15 now- with absolutely no sense of appreciation

  • @purpleinsanity212 No, I actually make bamboo flutes and they are no different to play. Shakuhachi's take some practice though.

  • This music touch my hearth

  • the cool thing about music is that no matter what language we speak, we can all understand each other's music. music brings cultures together.

  • @TheSaxophone1234 Osama Bin Laden hates music. Nuff said.

  • @TheSaxophone1234 You have just awaken me.

  • @TheSaxophone1234

That's why we in the US Military music system, we call music the "International Language". I still have fond memories of a very large military band from the USSR came to our Armed Forces School of Music in the winter of 1989-1990 to perform. They had a clarinet section of at least 40. It was quite awesome.

  • @TheSaxophone1234 Chiches.. ftw.

  • china is like another planet its amazing

  • WOW!! This sounds great! What is the instrument in the background, if I may ask?

  • @KnucklesEchidna125

we call it as 扬琴 (yang qin )

  • It would be so good if ALL nations could pool their music and philosophy for ALL to hear - NO politics or ideaology. Music speaks more than words ever could.

By this media we are all joined - I believe in this world and especially after.

We need a world music concert TOGETHER to share and understand - Music is a unique gift that has more power than we maybe realise, it carries our past, present and future

  • @eastindiaman ever heard of playing for change? its exacly that :) I also know the editor of their music. It is a great! program.

  • @eastindiaman

I'll give you that music is a powerful tool but that it "speaks more than words ever could." may be a little over pretentious. Understanding comes not only through music but also from hearing each other out.

  • @eastindiaman if we all could we as wise as you :)

  • @eastindiaman very well said. i am an african woman and this music and other music of the world continues to speak to me :) everyone have a blessed day!

  • @eastindiaman hmmm but politics and ideology is mixed with philosophy. Especially in China. Confucianism governed political structure, our concept of heaven is structured like imperial government. The story of our mothers and fathers, our religion, art ect was born out of politics. To neglect this elements means to neglect our culture. Same is true of america, europe ect. :)

  • @eastindiaman

I agree with what you said and had visioned ONE NESS CONCERT for Vancouver Olymic where people of all nations gather and sing each nations chants . people respecting and singing other peoples songs and chants is like ultimate tribute and connection with each other. very strong bonding hence ONENESS. I will be happy to arrange it again. Lets be ONE.

  • wow tinkerbellshaker you are really deep

  • i luv this music, its so relaxing, it takes back to ancient china, you can feel the water on your feet, the soil on your hands, and the soft grass below your body....as you lay there....on the hill, feeling at one with the universe.........i know.......deep

  • The title of this ancient Chinese piece is "Partridge Flying". Partridge keep saying their Chinese name "Lu Gu, Lu Gu".

  • That's very pretty but what is it called?

  • me too,and i live in rome...

  • something like what a didge player does?

    cyclic breathing?

  • this song makes u appreciate life more.

    an eye opener

  • She must have lungs the size of feakin beach balls! I just got a chinese Bamboo flute the other day. I have nearly past out a few times from trying to hold notes. I think now I can truly appreciate just how talented this woman is from my experience (or lack of) with the instrument. Amazing and soul soothing! I strive to one day to play at least half as good as this! 5 STARS!

  • Most chinese flute players learn to breath while they're holding notes. It's very VERY hard to do. I would know. But it's a very very helpful skill.

  • I think she is using what is called "circular breathing."

  • yeah its the same thing you need to be able to do is you play the digaridoo

  • soothing my daily hardship......

  • wow this is amazing. beautiful beautiful playing.

  • absolutely beautiful, absolutely peaceful. people with music, like this spread peace. This type of music is very enchanting and has a story behind it, a story of peace. spread peace through out the world.

  • this is so beautiful !

  • I want a chinese bamboo flute! I love bamboo, it is kinda cute to look at it and what is the name of the instrument the other person is playing?? I have seen it before. But I do know it ain't a koto

  • The other person is playing a guzheng. The guzheng is the ancient ancestor of the koto. The average guzheng has 21strings while kotos have 13.

  • The fast passage towards the end is ... wow. I wonder if there are "professional" dizi as opposed to shit dizi. I bought one here in Cambridge for 35 and it does not sound anywhere near as clean as the one in this video. It sounds too airy and dirty, and needs gale-strenght winds to get sound out of it. Having a lot of experience with other wind instruments, I wonder whether I am doing something wrong or my dizi is just a cheap decorative item...?

  • i can tell you where to buy professional ones

and you could have gotten a good quality one for the price you paid, where did you get it, may i ask? just ask me if you want to know where to buy pro.

  • Hi, thanks for your reply. I bought mine from a shop in Cambridge, UK. The shop sells Asian furniture, ornaments and musical instruments. Judging by the stuff they sell, with hindsight I reckon that the dizi I bought was intended more as a decorative item.

I am going to spend one year in Wuxi (from 27 Aug 2009), near Shanghai. Do you know any shops thereabouts? Thanks

  • Hiyas,

    I stumbled across this guy:

    tansungwah

He has help vids. Also I think he has a shop in Shanghai? He has a link to his store on his profile.

  • Man they sure use a lot of trills in Asian music but it's pretty sounds great!!

  • (to Dillon594209)

This song is called "Flying Partridge." In flute music, trills are often used to represent bird calls.

  • i wish i had a bamboo flute now.

  • Sehr schone musik, und finde Ich....wie was mann spricht mit viele live.........sehr romantik........Vielen Dank aus Schweiz Que linda musica para enamorarse de la noche a la mañana..........Very nice music,I love this Music.........Thank you so Much.....

  • woww, Du canst auch drei sprachen sprechen!!!

I agree with you, it is king of a morning melody!

    saludos!

  • yes but how do you glue the freaking bamboo membrane correct on the dizi extra hole ,that is THE CHALLENGE !!!

  • better than the ''original'' flute (silver one)

  • mmm its called transverse flute. not original, since originals ones were made of bone and wood

  • bravo

  • Absolutely marvelous, man!!!!!!
