IGNORANCE IS NOT BLISS..LISTEN TO YOURSELVES! TO THE YOUNG 15 YEAR OLD WHO WAS THINKING ABOUT WEARING A WEAVE..GIRL GO AND DO IT. WHO DOESN'T WEAR WEAVE? MEN ARE WEARING THEM TOO...HELL GEORGE WASHINGTION WORE A WIG AND WE KNEW IT WASN'T HIS HAIR! BABY POWDER AND ROLLERS IS WHAT HE USED! NOW THINK OF HOW CRAZY MY WHITE SISTERS AND BLACK SISTERS WOULD LOOK IF THEY USED ROLLERS AND BABY POWDER TO COLOR THEIR WIGS AND WEAVE???
dude, im fifteen and live in a town primarily with white people. i dont want to be different, and i already am being of mixed race. i straighten my hair and it looks fine but its a fucking hassle. I was really thinking about a weave but all the ignorant comments changed my mind.
You guys really need to get more educated on other races besidess your own.
It'll never be your hair. Your WIG, never your hair. The fact that there are more white people living in your town shouldnt impact on the way God made YOU. You're perfect and should fuck the weave and the straighteners OUT! Peace x.
black women and weaves? oh god please cut the bullshit. you look really fake! really. If black men digress from you because of your hair being fake. be natural ladies.
"black women and weaves" ... what a narrow minded statement.. I am white and i wear weave all the time... Just about every supermodel you see in a magizine (victorias secret models).. singers (jessica simpson, taylor swift hell ive even seen carrie underwood wear one) ALL wear weaves. I didnt realize it was only a "black" thing thats pretty ignorant. its not as unnatural as say a boob job or cosmetic surgery its hair for christ sake you can take it right out!
the only reason you say that on most black women look fake is because the ones that look real you cant tell or often don't realize. And it looks fake often times because someone didnt do it right, or got cheap hair.
Most times you can tell if the hair is real, lol. Cause nowadays most black women don't even have the decency to make their hair look real. When you look at a black girl and can see her hair is fake that's a damn shame, lol. Then what's even more sad is how they got the nerve to be arrogant about it. My hair is long and it's mine. And it is in its natural state. NO WEAVE, LOL. But anyways, like I was saying, most times you can tell when the hair is real and when it's fake. Kick it up!
I agree...and women who everyoen 'excpect' (insert sarcasm here) dont get criticcised or 'suspected' of having a weave (light skinned women specifically)...so there are alot of weave-weares walking around that people dont noticed...but for real alot of black women are going crazy with the unreal textures and colours. Looking like shiny plastic sitting on top of their heads
I asked the same thing, and I ended up getting one. A weave is when you have hair sewn into your own braided hair. It's not always necessarily fake hair, if you're going to have it sewn in you'll need real hair. There's NOTHING worse than having a bad weave, and artificial hair is hard to manage.
It could be glued in too, but thats the worst way to put in tracks it because it can take your hair out and can stain you fingers and clothes if youre not careful.
Ms. Bevy-- have you seen the ad for Mr. Ray's Hair Weave on Youtube? Maybe he can hook ypu up next time you decide to get a phony pony. He may not make you look like Rick James, but based on the models, he can definitely make you look like a broke off Donna Summer! LOL
Alligatorwings, If I can admit to wearing a cheap weave, why would I front about going to Europe? I have pictures that I can send, LOL! Also I live in New York City and we don't have malls, but I was at the corner store! Thanks for the compliment!
I believe you, Bev-- I was just teasing you. Honestly I have no idea why a beautiful nubian queen like yourself would bother with fake hair. Lots of women may look better with weaves, but you do not need it. Too many gorgeous, funny, articulate and elegant black women put too much emphasis on "hur" I wish they could understand that their beauty often has nothing to do with the hair on their head. However, I have to admit the term "weavologist" made me LOL.
Ms.bevy1243, i understand its a joke(very funny)... but ur fine as hell why would you or any black women wear a weave?? 85% of the time people know its fake... for example if you look at the related video side bar "Thick Nick hair demo"? she used the word "natural" a couple times? C'mon.... if you ever get that cheap weave again, u should slap charlie murphy n say "Im Rick James bitch!" Happy holidays Ms.Bevy1243
She's not teaching self-hate. She's talking about wearing a weave that looks like your black hair - and not like an Asian or European wig. Wearing a weave is not self-hate. Plenty of women alter their appearances with make-up, tanning, lip injections, plastic surgery, and the like. Perhaps all of America is self-hating in the sense that we all want use articifial means to look "beautiful.
@anothayouinaminute so when u straighten ur hair ur teaching self hate? how about curling it? or wearing make up? getting a tan?....changing ur appearance isn't teaching self hate...it's just altering urself in a way that makes u happy

she is thinking "I want my weave to look as real as possible! I have a inferiority complex to obsess over!"
while a white woman watching this would say "Damn, why can't my hair look fake like her's. I want to buy some weave..."
finally the Spanish woman would say "why can't I be a citizen like these hoes! I mean, OH look at her weave"

The sad thing is that these women are teaching 'self-hate' to their children and childrens ,children.
Putting hair in a new twist without teaching that the white man is a racist hater won't work.
Many Black women r now actually encouraging daughters to get white men. Unbe-weaveable!
