@4d4mdotnet yeah, that explains a lot. I eat about 2 cases of blueberry chapstick a month.... Actually i've found that over the last few years especially my tastebuds have changed radically. If you want a real cross profile of my beer tastes look up my profile (merddyn2002) on the beeradvocate website.
So Very nice video. Thank you for all your knowledge.
Question: I have never made wine before or brewed at all. I want to make some wine for a friends wedding. In your oppinion, for a first timer like me, am I going to be able to pull off a batch worthy of a wedding on my first try? I have been watching your videos and craigtubes videos and have learned allot. I was planning on using a kit with everything icluded for a CABERNET SAUVIGNON, thats what he wants me to make
@chris95069 If you use just bread yeast they will usually die around 9-10% alcohol. If you use yeast nutrient they can usually survive up to 14-15% alcohol.
So many different people doing the same thing in varous ways can be confusing to a newby such as myself. However , your videos seem to bring light to the process . Thanx and keep up the good fun of making wine. My very first batch is in its first week of fermenting. It took me less time to make a batch of limoncello so that will be my drink of the duration. Happy Wine making to all.
Thanks so much. I have had a hydrometer for years, but was only brewing beer and never really knew how to use it. Started a batch of wine today and thought I better figure it out. Your video was very helpful. I also am from Houston, but retired last August to the Lake. So I have alot of free time to pursue my hobby.
I bought my hydrometer this week. I'm starting to get impatient my first rack has only been frementing for about a week and an half. I better make more! LOL
This is really interesting...I think your videos are giving me courage and knowledge to try a first batch...I dont have abrew supply store near me but I will order on the net...I was almost tempted to buy bread making yeast the red star..but I am going to wait and get the one you recomend..thanks again for the info
Great video. I was kind of intimidated by the hydrometer, but its really not as complicated as i thought. I'm definitely using one next time i brew mead.
well, yes/no. if you know what your yeast stop at say 12% alcohol then yeah, it'll let you know when the yeast is dead. If you're using champaign yeast that variety will eat ALL the sugar so when it bottoms out it's completely dead. I need to do a follow up video and address a few issues i forgot to mention.
I'm not quite rich enough to smoke acids in ALL my vids. A lot of the time it's just a philly blunt that i've hand hanging out in an acid box with a bunch of cloves and cinnamon. I honestly dig the flavored blunts, esp. watermelon. Maker's Mark cigars are great as are cojimars. There's a brand from hawaii that's not bad either. If it doesn't taste good, i won't smoke it.
awsome video bro...thanx for posting this it really helped me

Sometimes the specific gravity will read lower than water as alcohol is less dense than water.
I've seen quite a few formulas for this. One for determining when the fermentation will be done, and another for determining alcohol by volume.

Do you know what alcohol content will kill off bread yeast?

So you've been smoking "acid" cigars in all your movies. I smoked one last week, it was a good cigar. What other brands do you smoke/recommend?
