I heard the original artist Sandy Patti, as well as Regine Velasquez and Sarah Geronimo. Here is my observation and comment: Sarah's rendition of the song LIGHT OF A MILLION MORNINGS is almost, if not, the same KEY or PITCH with original Sandy's version - of course at the ending of the song it is a bit challenging to reach the extra super HIGH NOTES so Sarah did not sing it. As for Regine's version - she was able to reach the climactic high notes in the ending but then her KEY or PITCH is lower.

sa mga taong nagsasabi na semplang si sarah dito, actually mali kayo... pero tama kayo na hindi ganoon kawide ang vocal range niya... it sounds "semplang" because ini ba ung arrangement ng pagkanta ng soloist kasi nga kung susundin nga naman ung piyesa, baka hindi kayanin ni sarah... so hindi talaga semplang tong performance na 'to, it's just that the arrangement was changed to "suit" sarah's vocal capabilities... un lang :D

You know what is the problem with this song?... It had been sung by 2 of the greatest singer ever lived (Sandy and Regine).. its difficult to do any better.. Any different version will render inferior / incomplete / up to standard.. I think to be fair to Sarah, she did attempt this mammoth task in putting her own twist..Will it be as good as the previous version? (Never.. c'mon who can?)...But to be fair to the discussions, she did have some flat notes.. not that she can't sing.. its the song..
(2) For the correct version, listen to Sandi Patty's version (you can also check out Regine's, who made the notes higher during the second-to-the-last line of the song -- but she stuck to the correct version). Sarah's rendition was nice and heartfelt. I agree that the arrangement was cheated, however. This performance just showed Sarah's limitations. It's a shame since Regine also performed this song. Inevitably, comparisons were made. And obviously, Sarah's performance here was nowhere near Regine's. It's as if she sang this song to let everyone watching know that she can't sing this song. They could have made the arrangement more suited for her range. Total fail.

sa mga taong nagsasabi na semplang si sarah dito, actually mali kayo... pero tama kayo na hindi ganoon kawide ang vocal range niya... it sounds "semplang" because ini ba ung arrangement ng pagkanta ng soloist kasi nga kung susundin nga naman ung piyesa, baka hindi kayanin ni sarah... so hindi talaga semplang tong performance na 'to, it's just that the arrangement was changed to "suit" sarah's vocal capabilities... un lang :D

You know what is the problem with this song?... It had been sung by 2 of the greatest singer ever lived (Sandy and Regine).. its difficult to do any better.. Any different version will render inferior / incomplete / up to standard.. I think to be fair to Sarah, she did attempt this mammoth task in putting her own twist..Will it be as good as the previous version? (Never.. c'mon who can?)...But to be fair to the discussions, she did have some flat notes.. not that she can't sing.. its the song..

(2) For the correct version, listen to Sandi Patty's version (you can also check out Regine's, who made the notes higher during the second-to-the-last line of the song -- but she stuck to the correct version). Sarah's rendition was nice and heartfelt. I agree that the arrangement was cheated, however. This performance just showed Sarah's limitations. It's a shame since Regine also performed this song. Inevitably, comparisons were made. And obviously, Sarah's performance here was nowhere near Regine's. It's as if she sang this song to let everyone watching know that she can't sing this song. They could have made the arrangement more suited for her range. Total fail.

hitting the last note is a subjective thing - you can either do it or not, but that should not mean you didn't do a good job! What matters is how the whole song was sung and performed.
