Making money seems like it would be easy enough to do but I find that consistently doing is the hard part. I think many times people give you a way to make money once but don't give you a replicable system to continuesley make money. This video is definitley some insight for me on moving forward.

@legcaybegins yea, you can not normally make this a full time job. just have everything ready in case something comes available, such as truck, trailer, cutting torch, tools, rope, tarp, and people to help you move it, a place to sell it, a back up place to sell, call and get prices 1-4 times a month, normally prices change weekly, check scrap yard hours of operation.

@thatbboyAli well call the scrap yard, dont even take to scrap unless its $185-$210 per ton or more, for "sheet metal" which is refrigerators, metal shelving, hot water tanks, basically all normal scrap metal. if its brown, or brown with greenish tarnish, its probably copper. aluminium is very light weight for its size and usually white or very light gray color. copper gives you about $3 to $3.25 per pound when scrap metal/sheet metal gives you about $0.10 per but easier to find.

I did a 2 week retail store remodel and me and my buddy got to have 8 tons of scrap iron. I made 2000 dollars on the remodel job and me and my buddy made an extra 500 each. All the people in my neighborhood give me their cans, my family collects their cans for me and I also walk around and find them all over. I make 200 extra a month on those alone. It is easy to make 100 to 500 a month scrapping a couple hours a week.

4-1-10 i took 1700 pounds of old CPU's (not monitors, mice or keyboards), and they didnt have the hard drives or ram memory inside, everything else though).

the computers were considered scrap sheet metal. they were paying$190 per ton and i got $180 for this 1 load. the guy that was using the giant claw,,, grabbed my wooden tire well and done $15 of damage to it. i had to go and replace some lumber that he broke. so i made about $165, not bad.

@smartstuff2buy Technically, you gave away a small gold mine with that scrap steel. Computer motherboards, cards and processors contain gold and some items contain platinum. Depending on the hardware, your average motherboard could have 1/20 of an ounce in it, at more than $1000 an ounce for gold, that's $50 a board. I don't know where you live, but there are PC recyclers in my area and they pay top dollar for such things.
