@nicarama101 I'm sure it's very difficult to be type 2, but the fact is, type 1 is harder to deal with. I've had it since I was one, and unlike with type 2, it isn't because I'm fat or old. We type ones have to deal with trying to explain it to people, and people automatically thinking it isn't serious because their grandparents have it and it isn't bad for them.

I got it at the worst possible time the age of 11...first year of high school and my parents never cared a bout what I ate and didn't pack my lunch for me or anything like that. I am 21 now and I'm finding it really hard to control because I was not used to the healthy eating all these years. i hope parents out there understand how serious type 1 is if their kids do (god forbid) get it.

It's a good song, and he's right--diseases like diabetes do need to be cured. But diabetes is a far less fatal disease than, say, cancer or AIDS. This song seems like it would be more fitting for a very dangerous disease that we don't understand at all, whereas diabetes is hardly ever fatal, and we have an adequate understanding of it. Diabetic shock is always a possibility, but as long as people who have it keep up with insulin and doctor's appointments, they're okay.

I've been a Type One Diabetic for 9 years(and I'm 14 now), and it can't be that easy to get a cure. It's never something you will ever outgrow. so Google might say there are cures, but it's not that easy and simple
@HeyitsAkay thats not quite right... Type 1 diabetes is not curable.. he has to take insulin injections because he can not produce any. type 2 is mostly curable.. most old people and people with overweight get type 2 ...and if they loose weight they "loose" the sicknes..

everyone compares cancer to diabetes but cancer is worse!! I'm diabetic and I can tell that diabetes is not the worst thing that can happen to a person. Yeah, it's hard because your life changes but it's not a deadly illness if you cure it well.
I'm not habituated yet (after 4 years) but I know there are so much worse things and cancer is one of them, so stop comparing diabetes to cancer.

I was just diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes yesterday, so it's all new to me. But one of the people below me, you're a little fucker. Diabetes is also a very severe illness, just like cancer. Cancer is curable, diabetes is not. They can both be fatal. Get over yourself. Thanks.

so if someone with cancer made a speech that would be okay.. ? seriously thats the gayest statement i've ever seen. you still have to fight with diabetes the same as you would with cancer. he does speeches to try and reach out to people with diabetes the same as someone would to someone with cancer.

u no i really hate when he makes this speech. its like he thinks hes the only one who has diabetes but fyi nick u don't. some people have cancer and can die at any second of the day while ur living on with ur life and some people r just in the hopstial and never see wats outside. sooo a little bit longer should be for people who have like cancer and aids and other deadly dieases cuz u can stilll live. while others can't. please no hate comments.

It's a good song, and he's right--diseases like diabetes do need to be cured. But diabetes is a far less fatal disease than, say, cancer or AIDS. This song seems like it would be more fitting for a very dangerous disease that we don't understand at all, whereas diabetes is hardly ever fatal, and we have an adequate understanding of it. Diabetic shock is always a possibility, but as long as people who have it keep up with insulin and doctor's appointments, they're okay.

I've been a Type One Diabetic for 9 years(and I'm 14 now), and it can't be that easy to get a cure. It's never something you will ever outgrow. so Google might say there are cures, but it's not that easy and simple

@HeyitsAkay thats not quite right... Type 1 diabetes is not curable.. he has to take insulin injections because he can not produce any. type 2 is mostly curable.. most old people and people with overweight get type 2 ...and if they loose weight they "loose" the sicknes..
