It has also been known for health society's to come forward and tell people that eating macdonalds is healthy (just watch supersize me) Also look at monsanto and what they put into the food chain.

Actually , Chavez has massively reduced infant morality illiteracy, and disease, and has helped Morales to victory and re-election in Bolivia..Correa of Ecuador was elected and re-elected, and President Daniel Ortega in Nicaragua is approaching 50 percent approval while the conservative candidates for the 2011 election are at around 5 percent. Chavez lost a few seats but held his own, The US backed leaders and parties have little to show in any of these countries

Here in the US, the Constitution does not give the gov't the authority to tell people what they can and cannot consume. The federal gov't shouldn't even be involved in drug criminalization, it's a state issue (10th amend). If you're worried about the poor in other countries, sign FTAs with those countries and exchange goods. That will help the poor more than any collectivist social program.
