  • Just drive one, dumbass and you'll know what it's all about. Call it "Yo Mamma" . it still kicks ass.

  • rabbit is a golf

  • What is the difference between a Golf and a Rabbit? Is it just two extra doors?

  • Engine.

  • @blueweb25

umm no its just a name change there both the same thing

  • why do they keep changing the name?! when the new one comes out it is gonna be called a GOLF again!

  • For the north american market = RABBIT

the parts of the worl = GOLF

  • i always felt that vw patronizes and is condescending to the US market. and calling the golf a rabbit is surely the epitome of this condescendence.

  • GREAT car folks! My father has one, and it now has 94,000 miles on it, with ZERO problems! He has done synthetic oil changes on it every 7,500 miles, and it still runs like new. An AMAZING car for the money.

  • I was going to get the rabbit but when they showed me the GTI i couldn't resist, love at first sight..

  • Volkswagen recently announced, they will be dropping the Rabbit nameplate on the sixth-generation Golf, when it goes on sale in USA and Canada in September 2009.

Rabbit no more. The new car will be sold as the Golf.

  • Nobody in America knows what a "Golf" is? Shenanigans. I've known what a Golf was since I was 4 years old. My dad had a brand new 1989 Golf GL when I was 4, and I've loved the hot hatch ever since.

Now, I drive a 2009 Rabbit S, and the charm is still there, though much bigger than its old self. In fact, my dad still has a Mk2 VW, though it's an '88 Jetta Carat. Still fun to drive, though. I love Volkswagen.

  • No, YOU shut up.

  • 1989 Golf GL was my first car. Family had it for 15 years, never had a single issue. Now I roll in a 2007 Rabbit :)

  • Great car, best i've owned; consumer reports gave it the highest rating in the compact series....and uh, its 0-60 in about 7.8 for the manual, 8.2 for the auto. Not sure how they got 8.5 but whatever.

  • never mind, I know why; this is the '06 model. I have an '08 and it has more hp and torque. 06-07 is 150 hp, mine is 170hp

  • does the 09 rabbit come with the dsg transmission?

  • No, might in the future, but stick with the manual, better in every way.

  • Except for the main purpose of a transmission: shifting

  • Well I prefer to go 0-60 0.2 seconds slower and have fun on the way there.

  • I can agree with you there, but no way is a manual better in every way. (I do agree that a stick is still a more enjoyable experience)

  • No dsg for rabbit, if you get the automatic it has tiptronic, very usefull in snow.

  • actually the gti does have the dsg transmission available

  • i dont see why they changed the name back to rabbit. it sounds stupid in my opinion.

  • everywhere else it's the golf. why change it to rabbit when it works fine as golf. I don't see the reason. Good car nevertheless.

  • i loved calin it the golf.. never saw anythign wrong with it.. rather say i drive a golf then a rabbit

  • I like the look of the 08 4 door rabbit better than the scion xd and the honda fit but is it good of gas? n e one has one let me know!

  • 23/city 30/highway so it has less milage than those but way more power and standard features

  • Let me take that back...I now like the 09 GTI...

  • with those extra features like 6 cds changers he mentioned. it is in the low mid $20K....expect to spent around $17K out the door for the most basic model w/automatic

  • you have a perfect review voice..very clean

  • that ricer got embarassed by a stock maxi..RICERRRRRRRRR...paint ur steering wheel it might give u more hp

  • Ebay motors was good to me: 04 Golf TDI @ 86,000 miles. 46/50 mpg depending on how hard I drive it. Go farfignewton!

  • Wheres the diesel? Thats what I am interested in...

  • they come out next year i think and it will come with a cleaner and more efficient engine 45-55 mpg

  • Thank for letting me know. I have a 1996 Passat TDI that I have never had any problems with and I love it.

  • my dad has a tdi, they are really good cars and i would buy a diesel right now if they were out. i really dont get hybrid buyers, hybrids seem pretty crappy to me especially when compared to a vw diesel.

  • Does the 3 door version come w/ a sunroof, or is that just the 5 door?

  • im pretty sure u can option it in dont quote me on it

  • I've been reading up on the 09 Rabbit, and it sounds like the sunroof is an option now for both the 3 door and 5 door.

  • hell yeah !! i love mine its a good car , and for its value i think its quick.

  • Ethan you are retarded and incellent. Will you kindly take your finger out of your ass as drinfernogh asked? The Rabit is designed for excellent value and standard features. The GTI is known for its handling and performance.

  • its an excellent car

  • i want one. especially since my jetta has 227,000 miles on it.

  • I got an 2 door 08 i would recomend it. Think about what you said though, your Jetta has 227k on it. Thats awesome!

  • Does your Jetta have a diesel engine or a regular gas engine?

  • both.

  • They were never known for their handling...

  • you're an idiot.

  • Well ethan, if you take your finger out of your ass while you're driving, it's easier to control the car. Maybe this is why you think it handled poorly? But seriously, I had stock wheels on mine when I first got it and was happy. But I managed to pick up some used GTI "classix" wheels and by golly it handled SOOO much better.

  • I had some telling me--he got beat in a drag race by a rabbit--I rolled on the floor laughing thats like getting beat by a gremlin lol----I still like the rabbit though

  • "at top of its class" damn right!

  • @supersonnic it really is though for its price

  • haha I recognise some of the places in the video. the industrial area with water towers and the track was fontana.

  • vw rabbit 2

  • go rabbit!!!!!!
