A monopoly is when one company owns a market. In Canada, competitors to Rogers include Telus, Bell, and arguably Wind, Public Mobile, Mobilicity, Videotron, Koodo, Solo, etc. At most you can call it an oligopoly.
That said, sorry you had a bad Rogers experience. Not sure you'd get a cancellation easier from Bell or Telus. Personally I wouldn't take a contract.
I try getting out of my contract but they say: there is a tower! Right, but why don't I get any signal even OUTSIDE (and it's not only ME). They transfer you from one department to the other, you have to tell each single person the same stuff....some of these customer reps are so stupid I am wondering how they find their way to work every day.... ahahaaaa, I still can laugh about it, but for how long? I have a tower near (around 2 km's away) where I need to use my Rocket Stick. BUT: no cell phone reception, no internet service. The guy today told me to phone him from my Rogers cellphone when I am there... how the heck .. I can't make calls there!!!!

im trying out a stick.. rocket stick.. seems to work ok now .. in this location . but take it somewhere else. and it fuddles up... and does it get hot?? hold an egg to it for 4 mins .. rotating it every so often and you have internet and lunch on the run.. cool eh.?

Rogers sucks balls. If I was even 1 day late paying my bill they would phone me 8 to 12 times a day harrassing me. My service was suspended because I owed them 54$ and then they reactivated my service without telling me after I turned my phone off for a week, and charged me a 25$ reactivation fee.
if you don't like rogers then cancel the fucking account, the max it will be is 400 dollars. the average cell bill is 40-80 dollars. do the math, it's really not that much, and you don't even have to pay it all upfront. people are dumb lol. maybe don't take a 3 year next time lol.

I once ended up calling netgear because there router was messing up my internet and I needed the router to get internet. So I call and get india (or maybe some middle eastern dude in america) and he said he couldn't help me unless I register online. I can't get online so he said couldn't help me.
