A superb performance that burns with passion and poetry. I always considered her stylish performer who nowadays is shamefully overlooked, it's time for a serious re-appraisal of her recorded legacy.
Thanks, daniel, I agree with you. Eileen Joyce indeed is one of the greatest Liszt interpreter, because of her technique and also a wonderful poetic conception. I´ve read that she never played one note (!) wrong in public. I prefer this interpretation then Arrau´s or Hamelin, Eileen is my favorite pianist:)
I suppose you will like to know that a close friend of Eileen , Lívia Rév, who studied with Robert Teichnüller too still alive and there are videos of her playing in youtube, with 93 y old.
Did you ever hear her in person? I did many times growing up in London. She was also known for changing her dress after the intermission...the audience waited with bated breath to see what gorgeous gown she would appear in!
@Mapesbury100 I saw pianist, Olga Kern change gowns twice in one concert. She too plays at an amazing depth of pianism. I am very grateful to become aware of Eileen Joyce- her performances and playing are an amazing presence......
She makes this beautiful and difficult piece seem so easy, so graceful, so pure..I am very glad to have found your channel! Thank you.

The only recorded interpretations of like stature that I know of are Claudio Arrau and Marc Andre Hamelin. This is exquisite playing.
