  • Now I want to install a drop down ladder. Great post folks!

  • when they brought that lady they killed it

  • Like 15 times!!!!!!!

  • The new headquarters for the He Man Woman Haters Club.

  • I have one of these fold down stairways,it's best to shove up what 4x8 sheets you're gonna need before installing the stair, otherwise you'll need to cut off a few inches to get it through the opening!

  • I wonder how they got the boards up to the attic?

  • @LAYZBOY5 they didnt they cut them up into panels brought them up there and screwed them down

  • @LAYZBOY5 Simple, they cut the ceiling enough so the plywood may enter. Once finish installation of the plywood, then seal off the cut of the ceiling .

  • Is there a part one to this episode? I would be interested in seeing how to get to the point where this one starts.

  • how did they get that large plywood up the little tiny attic door???

  • How did they get large sheets of ply wood up there?

  • In Arizona, You would need to cool the attick to do that...

  • 2009 IECC Section 402.2.3 and 2009 IRC Section N1102.2.3 reads: "Access hatches and doors. Access doors from conditioned spaces to unconditioned spaces (e.g., attics and crawl spaces) shall be weatherstripped and insulated to a level equivalent to the insulation on the surrounding surfaces."

R-30+ is required! Battic Door makes an R-50 Kit to insulate attic stairs that meets all Code requirements.

  • im sorry, but i am having a hard time taking in the fact they had no entrance to the attic before this. that means they wasted that space for so long. 400 sq ft is alot and can be the size of a space efficient 2 bedroom house. to think they wasted that for so long...

  • this couple is freakin weird.

  • "we just say 'get out of the way' "

  • Declutter your life then you don't have to spend a grand to store a bunch of junk you'll never use. I guarantee you that attic junk will just collect dust, but at least they got it out of the garage and maybe can park their car in it...

  • I guess none of these people have been in an attic during the summer, not unusual to reach 120 degrees during the day. Sound like a good storage area? Think she'll be up there sewing? And btw, they reduced the R value of the insulting by compacting it, so it cost $1000 to run up the power bill and create a storage oven, nice work.

  • @pumkinvine Even though the R value decreased from compacting the insulation, the added 3/4" plywood adds some, not to mention the R value of all the junk stored up there on top of it. So it's not as bad as you think.

  • @jscott1000 lol

  • That attic was meant to be a room when the house was built. Nobody has 2 x 10 floor joists in an attic just to hold up a ceiling, unless it was meant to be walked on.

  • @JimboVids Yup everyone I know with a single story has 2x6's

  • @JimboVids I only have 2x4s. Is that OK to put some ply wood on for storage?

  • @TheBrassHole

You can, only if you don't put too much weight on it.....and also, if you have a drywall ceiling below, you don't want to walk on it a lot....and don't nail the plywood down, use screws instead, or you'll ruin your ceiling below.

  • @TheBrassHole I would sister the 2x4s with something larger, 2x8s from home depot (spruce/spf no.2) will span up to 12' as ceiling joists at 16" on center

  • The duct is still showing. I'd cover that up.

  • one 4x8 sheet is 32 square feet, 30 sheets = 960 sq ft for a 400 sq ft room? the math doesn't add up. must have made a lot of bad cuts.

  • oh plywood is not the same thing as OSB he should have said sheetgoods

  • The video mentions that it is a continuation of another episode. Is the first episode on YouTube?

  • why does this cost so much? do they buy the most expensive stuff or what..

  • 3/4 Plywood is usually over $20 a piece, and all that ply to do the floor and the little it took to do the boxes is expensive. 30 sheets are over 600 bucks ladder 300 equals 900.
