  • Almost three minutes of Sheer Heaven. DG should go on the road with a brass section and choir. Please DG .... it's not self-indulgence when thousands would die to see and hear it. We never fell out of love with AHM even if you guys did .

  • god gilmour

  • che spettacolo !

  • Quanto sei stato fortunato!

  • come ti trovavi lì?

  • Vous n'auriez pas la version complète de ce titre Atom Heart Mother en concert ? Merci

  • i almost cant watch this those people are so fucking lucky

  • impresionante!!!!!!!!!!!

  • How come he decided to play it? I thought he hated Atom Heart Mother... At least that's what I get from Wikipedia

  • @cubicle89

    I'd assume he

    1. mostly means the mainpart of AHM (album)

    2. likes part of the AHM suite (song) despite not adoring the entirity of it

    3. is referring, largely, to the actual recording process and quality of the album and its takes/mixing

    4. possibly likes it better as he grows older? :P

    5. thought it would make a fun performance

Part theory, part fact (in that some of it is directly based on facts)

  • Great surfing pink floyd videos on you tube. so historical. stuff i never seen before. you tube is priceless.

  • Holy shit! I need the full video!

  • Did you see that?David went from sitting down playing one guitar to the next standing up.No other guitarist can possible do that.I,m speechless.

  • ooooooooo x dios!!!!!!!!! nunca habia visto esto???

    wow

  • beautiful

  • That was incredible !

  • This is classical rock!

  • the best and beautiful 2 minutes of my life

  • Comment removed

  • how can i find full lengthed version?

  • @tjrtherocksponge It's almost the same thing I've said. DG was playing a prototype of the Black Strat Signature coming from Fender Custom Shop. I'm quite sure since Phil Taylor told me what kind of black strat was actually.

  • I never thought any member of the Pink Floyd would ever agree to play this song ever again.

  • does anyone think dave will ever tour again? i got to see Roger do the wall, and now if i see dave, i will be able to die.

  • lol, David still playing his lapsteel with one hand while he rips his fender out with the other! Legend!

  • I can't believe he fuckin' remembers this lol

  • idk why they are so embarrassed of atom heart mother now, i think it is a great album... it really set the stage for meddle

  • Hear how the angels sing to god at 2:00

  • Surprising. I recall David Gilmour saying something smiliar to "Mother is the low point of our artistic endeavour", and that he would not perform it even for a hundred million pounds.

  • @Saesangism maybe your thinking of something roger said?

  • @EtherTrogg8 theyve both put that album down before in various interviews

  • whats that thing he is playing at the beginning?

  • @Phantom948 Lap Steel Guitar

  • I agree. I love AHM. David absolutely hates it, though.

  • I think David may have appeared on this performance, because the people who did this really made it into perfection.

Co-composer Ron Geesin, who was also at this event and plays piano, complained that the original was more like a demo and that they were pressed for time to finish it and didn't really know what to do. That's probably a huge reason why the Floyd has criticized it, since they think of it as more aimless. It does sound like they could have done more with the studio version.

  • @TheOneartist Which is still amazing that even for what is claimed to be an unfinished demo the band didn't have the time or money to finish, the studio version still sounds so good compared to what other bands come out with.

I wish Pink Floyd had revisited the album, and come out with a new definitive version. Unfortunately, Richard Wright is gone, and so for this piece it's not possible without him. And Waters doesn't seem to like anything experimental except for when Syd was in the band.

  • lol the 2° guitarist has a copy of the black strat

  • @bomboloneallacrema : well it's not just a copy of the Black Strat. It's a 1977 series with a different bridge pick up and the other two similar to the black strat. Gilmour that night have played a prototype of the Black Strat signature, not the original one

  • como hubiese querido estar allí!!!!!

  • Gilmour said Atom Heart Mother belonged in a rubbish bin and Waters said if anyone were to ask him tom play it,he'd tell them to fuck off...

I'm happy someone caught this on video and audio because it will never happen again.

And I agree with those who want Gilmour to play some gigs in North America..Don't retire,Dave!

  • as much as i love this song.. it's common knowledge that all member of Pink Floyd hate it, Gilmour has said it's embarrassing and Waters wouldn't play it for a million pound - which is why i am loving this :)

  • excellent, trop bon de voir le concert!!!

  • gilmour is so cool, he must have been born with a strat in his hands!

  • WONDERFUL JUST WONDERFUL!

  • Now THIS is Floyd! My favorite Floyd album after Piper

  • COME TO AMERICA GODDAMNIT!!!! I and many others in the U.S. are craving Gilmour. Please Dave please!!!

  • @bobbitchin71 So you should. American artists lack quality compared to British/European bands.

  • @MorkaGraven Uh... >_>

  • @bobbitchin71 PLEASE!! America wants you!

  • Roger Water's was the vision guy in the band!! Great starting the Ideas, also Roger was involved with Lyrics and writing music,, more so in the later albums!

  • We are a cover band from Brazil and played Atom Heart Mother with orchestra and choir, see our work, thanks!

  • The drummer looks like an idiot in the hat but I guess it's supposed to represent the cow on the album cover.

  • A true masterpiece.

  • OMFG. A live choir AND orchestra!!! My favorite Pink Floyd album of all time!!! I would have killed to be there! A musical masterpiece that only Gods can create

  • I tought they hated this....

  • This is my all time favorite. It's so beautifull! Best Floyd song, wish I was there to see this.MAGIC

  • I agree MrBeaux! Best group of all time. Roger is a little wacky with his politics but still the great. David is FANTASTIC!

  • @bedrock121 Politics is about the only thing Roger and Dave would agree on .

  • @superzapper I have only seen Roger live, is David also into the same wacky politics? Oh well doesn't matter, their brilliance in music shines over this little issue.

  • @bedrock121 Yeah I think They have fairly similar views maybe not exactly but they are both anti war .They both played together on The hoping foundation which supports Palestinian children

  • @superzapper I guess the Floyd didn't see the video where the "precious" pali brats are prattling on about how they would like to kill jews and christians and how killing themselves for Allah is the best thing to look forward too.

  • @stargroove4 keep drinkin the koolaid

  • @Luv2Vertigo Keep smokin' your ganja. My koolaid contained the most eye opening substance known to man.

  • Playing this number live again since 1972! Incredible!!!

  • Fantastic!! BEST GROUP EVER!

  • If I recall correctly, Gilmour is using one of his signature model strats here, not actually the Black Strat. I think that's great - sure gives a glowing review if he's willing to play one!

  • what kind of instrument he's using?

  • @PuffoInformatico First a Fender lap guitar a later a Fender stratocaster

  • epic!

  • Compete version? Anyone?

  • I really love this song. When i was younger, and didnt even knew pink floyd, my dad would put on the atom heart mother cd during roadtrips. I always fell asleep before the end, and to me it always seemed like some inaccesable beautifull score, sounding a bit like a nightmare, but at the same time so soothing.

  • Where's the complete version? *___________*

  • love you David and the Pink Floyds ! for ever !!

  • @tjrtherocksponge Sorry, I am no hippie, that's derogatory, let's keep civil. I believe the book author is Cliff Jones, I got that wrong. He worked with some Floyd sources, including Ron Geesin for rare photos. I think it's correct to assume having heard radio interviews myself, in fact, I often recorded such interviews to cassette

  • @tjrtherocksponge Recent reading of Cliff James Echos Bricks in the Wall, oddly retitled book, he points out Roger gave Rick the ultimatum to coax him to contribute more, but that Rick insists Roger always had a problem with his musical ability on keys, However, Rick had formal training in music, which seems to suggest he knows more then the others?!

  • Que grande eres David, eres el amo de la guitarra no hay quien te gane

  • @tjrtherocksponge Well, his opinion STATED in public was that Final Cut reduced his input to that of session musician and he was not too keen on that at all! It's less to do with the quality of the work, he said that if rejected for The Wall, how is The Final Cut material (Spare Bricks) any better since that movie and albums release? However, I always enjoyed Final Cut, I see nothing wrong with it

  • Dave Gilmour let EVERYONE SHINE ON that song, wouldn'tcha say? Even for a boot, I feel the impact Geesin's orchestral parts still have, very very cool

  • tra 200 anni ascolteranno i PINK FLOYD!!!! SPETTACOLARE

  • pile of shit

  • Truly beautiful!

  • this is a musical orgasm!!! epic!!! i want to cry!!!

  • @tjrtherocksponge i was speaking mainly of Atom Heart Mother song in general, theres plenty of articles on it, but most of what i was saying was information mostly comeing from Nick Masons book Inside and Out Pink Floyd.

  • @Fretlessjay Nick says at times he felt something was rubbish as well as Dave. I don't think Roger Waters has said anything quite so hotly contested with regard to their output from his own opinion. One comment Rogers said was "If people don't like a show, they don't come again", I think that was in Live at Pompeii but can't recall as my Pompeii DVD is misplaced

  • não existe este vídeo completo??

    Don't exist this full video??

    Wonderfull!!!!!!

  • W O W indeed!

  • sempre ottimo il nostro Gilmour ma un bel bravo anche a tutti i Mun! grandi!!!

  • sempre e solo david

  • W O W

  • each member of the band has at some point denounced this song, but i think deep down they were just afraid of criticism. this is true greatness

  • beato te... che avrei dato per essere li!!!

  • indelible!

  • i wish you dead men nha just joke really envy envy great!!! just great!!

  • ohh my god..ove u so dave ...pink still the best...eternelllllll

  • Awesome performance....

  • Seriously had no idea he had played this within the last 35 years... amazing.

  • MUSIC !!!!

  • I didn't know David played Atom heart mother in live. I learned that today :D

    Awesome !

  • BRILLIANT BRILLIANT BRILLIANT

  • a masterpiece

  • simplismente magnifico, som dos DEUSES

  • David is a genius!!!!!

  • This song is so random....... It's fun to listen to on a bus ride......... Best part is hands down "funky dung"

  • im with the coolmaster guy floyd released atom heart mother in 70

  • I didn't know that Gilour did that, he always claimed he hated that one...

    I wish I was there

  • @TheUnknownProject66 I think he refers to that album as a 'load of rubbish'

  • espetacular!!

    perfeito.

  • 49 years old and this song still is as beautiful as it was when I was 16... Thanks for posting it.

  • I thought pink floyd hated this song. Maybe it was just Waters. He was probably angry that it wasn't composed by himself alone.

  • @myinterestingfish i remember i read an interview. roger must of hated it cause he sai

  • @myinterestingfish no no belive me david was not fond of atom heart mother, non of em...except Nick maybe, in interviews dave has mentioned it a conjunction of what to them at the time sounded good but dosent sound all the great now (the studio recorded version at least.

  • @myinterestingfish

for what I gather, they all felt it was overall a weak musical effort, and Meddle would be their next more accomplished thing.

  • @myinterestingfish Not only Waters, Gilmour has said that the whole album sucks. One of them (cant remember who, tho) said this should've been burned and never listened to again. I'm glad Gilmour changed his mind.

  • @holokinesis Ron Geesin and Waters did the BODY soundtrack before hand, but he got along with the band. The problem is they were all too close to it, as Dave has admitted to in radio interviews, he can't get objective about his own material, you can see where they are coming from when you consider they orchestrated every thing intimately as a band

  • @myinterestingfish Hahaha, no, they didn't hate it, Geesin did most of the work for the conducting and the EMI musicans were a-holes he had to work with due to conditions of the union. They performed it live in the 70s and it had several variations, one with ballet dancers as well

  • @myinterestingfish I think Gilmour really likes Atom heart mother (the album) since he also made a case for Fat old sun to be on the "Echoes - the very best of Pink Floyd" but got voted down.

  • @myinterestingfish It's Echoes that David Gilmour doesn't like. Swore he'd never do it live again. I forget the reason why he doesn't like it but I know he doesn't.

  • @waagow22 Gilmour performed Echoes on his Remember That Night tour in 2006-7. The whole DVD is brilliant but Echoes was definitely the best part. I highly recommend all fans of The Floyd check it out ASAP!

  • @waagow22 wrights dead

  • @waagow22 Wrong! David loves Echoes (Meddle album), which for him "contains a clear indication of a way forward". The group didn't like to play Atom Heart Mother because it was really difficult to play live.

  • @myinterestingfish

shine on you crazy diamond wasnt composed by himself alone too.

and a lot of songs too

  • @myinterestingfish

yeah he's kind of a prick XD

  • @myinterestingfish

Floyd had bad memories of the messy recording process, but I think Dave is proud of it - it is his theme!

  • @myinterestingfish the song atom heart mother is a pure MASTERPIECE!!!

  • @Migashbk it's actually the best song they composed

  • @Migashbk I hate it when people knock the pre - Meddle material.

  • @myinterestingfish

They only hated it because it was a bastard to remember and perform.

  • @myinterestingfish They were all dissatisfied with it as a result. Waters was the one who hated it. Apparently Gilmour has warmed to it, as he said it was a good idea, just not executed to his liking.

  • SHIT YESS atom heart mother :D i loved this the first time i heard it so peculiar and strange of a song but you just gotta love it , and the change between the lapsteel solo and the black strat one is flawless

  • Pure brilliance. Pink Floyd is the greatest band of all time.

  • is This live concert of Atom Heart Mother on DVD?!!

    Love this CD!!

  • But the original in the 60's was marvellous!

  • 70's. Atom Heart Mother was released in 1971

  • um 1970

  • Fabulous! Atom is my favorite album! Let's come and listen my IF version on myspace gariac. Enjoy (I hope...)

  • Super!

  • YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

  • opera d'arte :))

  • Assolutamente d'accordo!

  • David Gilmour è arte....

  • too bad people don't give as big a damn for Procul Harum

  • grandii

Y opino igual...lastimosamente, subvalorado.

  • broken chair, more like broken record

  • Grazie!

  • epic

  • No video allowed ))))

  • this man is a genius

  • One of their best albums.

  • Is the whole video somewhere?

  • broken chair youve written on nearly every video involving pink floyd that they wrote dogs of war we are all well aware of that thank you

  • I wonder how they convinced him to do that.

  • They wrote other stuff also....

  • Eh more like roger waters. Pink floyd was his hired help by the animals album...

  • I'm not sure what you're on, or where you're getting your resorces, but if you want to disprove me, you really might want to consider getting your facts straight. FIRST OF ALL, Pink Floyd weren't hired to make "Animals", as they were already in the band. You can't hire someone if they're already in the band. SECOND OF ALL, Roger ONLY wrote the lyrics. Musically, "Dogs" is entirely David Gilmour's song.

And remember, Pink Floyd weren't hired to make their own album. I think you might be confu

  • sing "Animals" with "The Final Cut", as that truly is a Roger Waters solo album. But regardless, Pink Floyd weren't even "hired" to make that one, because it is counted as a Pink Floyd album, even though it's not, which actually benifited the band, because they were still making money off of it. So really, "The Final Cut" was more like a gift to the other two mambers of Pink Floyd at the time it was released, simply by having Pink Floyd's name on it.

Anyway, I hope you find better resorces t

  • he next time you try to make me look like a dumbass :)

  • Hired help was a sarcastic slight at Roger Waters. I have the pinkfloyd signed biography so i have a pretty ok knowledge of the scenario that the band was dealing with at the time of animals. Roger had pretty much taken over, Richard Wright was annoyed and left. (Hence the lack of keyboard) The balance was no longer an even mix between the members hence the strong Roger feel the album has, (Very aggressive, The Wall ,like) Roger Wanted to be top dog and was jealous of Davids lime light.

  • You're coming along, kid. The only thing is that Rick never left willingly. He was blackmailed into leaving the band by Roger, who refused to release "The Wall" until Rick was out of the band.

  • where can i find video from that evening? i mean all AHM not just few minutes....

  • Invidia a 1000!!!! Ke cosa stupenda, come è stato possibile suonare con David? E, soprattutto, come ci sono riusciti i Mum?

  • the guy on the left plays a gilmour replica :D

  • @Anaben11 I'm the "guy on the left"... The guitar's not a Gilmour's replica. It's a 1977 Stratocaster with X1 Fender bridge pickup. Cheers
