  • i knew how this was done as soon as that walkie-talkie was put down

  • fake. the first 'dong' you filmed on the actual big ben, and then went straight back to the walcky talky.. fakefakefakefake!

  • simple minds have simple pleasures.

  • sooooooooooooooo it chimed 12 times...not 13,you just heard it 13 times.sometimes i wonder what the hell is wrong with some people

  • They've been watching too much Captain Scarlet

  • BBC Three has some shite doesn't it?

  • that is like watch a football mach on tv with the audio in radio

  • Well if you can do 13, why not do 14?

  • @coolcam262 On paper that is fine, you would have to be far enough away for the sound from Big Ben so that the sound of the first chime, didn't make it to the listener until the third chime. However, I think that that is simply too far away to hear the bell very well. I might be wrong though.

  • Not really that impressed albeit i have seen some amazing physics experiments in the past which frankly undermine this representation of sound lag.

Would be useful to kids doing their GCSEs who would be learning this

  • "And that is the thirteenth chime!"...

    erm. no it's not.

  • Why not go for all 24?

  • @ikedabarry + @Nogil == Answer

  • Geek fun

  • how can u people be so stupid it was a test to make big ben ring 13 times an it did because speed of sound is slower then the radio wave that all the test was i congratz that guy he has more brains then any of u put 2gather now take ur fingers out ur asses an congrat the man well done dude :)

  • uhhhhh let's see ummm one o'clock p.m.

  • captain scarlet "big ben strikes again." October 13, 1967

  • I doubt it very much that the guy in this video worked it out. They nicked the idea from Captain Scarlet, 'Big Ben Strikes Again'. It was a lot more entertaining than this too.

  • what a waste of time lol

  • I bet they watched Captain Scarlet when they were younger :D

  • There's four minutes and six seconds I'll never get back.

  • Anyone else remember the Captain Scarlet episode based on this? :P

  • @hazasc13 They nicked this from captain scarlet didn't they!

  • 12 chime Twice, Don't start calling it something it AIN"T. That's how morons are made

  • 13:00 IS when the witches come out =)

  • Pretty neat

  • 13 YEAH! WOOOHOOOO!! Wow. Should have stayed in the bar. Much more productive.

  • Captain Blue figured this out long before you :P

  • and why is this called 'secrets of the universe'?

  • Oh, in other words the first chime they only heard on the radio.

  • @Weeble68

They heard it 4 seconds later in real life.

  • BBC does science, wtf.

  • lol high 5 rejection

  • try make it chime 14 timess now :)

  • Bit of an over reaction by those 4 at the end!!! And Epic High 5 Fail 2!!

  • recorded? of course it's only twelve chimes. with the radio there are only twelve chimes, and without the radio there are only twelve chimes. it's only both with and without the radio that we HEAR thirteen chimes, despite there being only twelve. it would make more sense if you could hear both of them independently and simultaneously, during which the first radio chime would be alone and the second radio chime would be concurrent with the first non-radio chime.

  • Like this is you think the 13th chime was just the 12th :L

  • @thunderboba They didn't record it, I don't know why they're so excited though it's very simple physics.... All you have to do is know that Big Ben... I'm going to make a video response to explain it

  • @thunderboba it rather depends upon your perspective

  • Surely that's just hearing the twelfth chime twice?

  • @Caead exactly!

  • @Caead no fucking shit dumbass

  • Comment removed

  • @Caead Just because you're not the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree, that's not a reason for people to call you a dumbass.

  • @millsy1804 *facepalm* Don't call someone a dumbass if you don't understand their comment.

  • @millsy1804 Someone blew a fuse!

  • @millsy1804 dont be mean they were just asking.

  • @millsy1804 this is a very VERY rude comment why can't you be polite - Children read those comments as well we should not teach them to swear - got it you uneducated person !

  • @MingaMadl They should be 13 or older to be using youtube. If you as a parent don't want your kids around this, then keep them off of youtube. there are much, much, worse out there

  • @Caead I know!! 4:06 minutes of my life wasted...

  • @Caead Well strickly speaking they heard every chime twice. It's just that they heard them out of sync. They should've stood half the distance that they did and then they would've heard 24 chimes and twice as fast! : )

  • @Caead correct !

  • @Caead well done he explained it num nuts

  • easy just change big ben to digital (in daytime at 1pm it'll say 13:00)

  • haha, lol?

  • I recall there was something like that in a Thunderbirds episode, scientifically accurate kids show i guess.

  • @nintyking64 yeah was in captain scarlet

  • @Necondus Thanks, easy mistake to make.

  • @nintyking64

do u know what episode, if so can u send me the name plz

  • @grubbg001 I made a mistake, it was actually Captain Scarlet (created by Gerry Anderson who did Thunderbirds too) from the episode 'Big Ben strikes again'.

  • Intresting but how come the "13th" chime was so much louder?

  • @coolcam262 I think someone recorded it

  • @thunderboba i think that too!

  • @coolcam262 it was quieter

  • Someone OBVIOUSLY recorded that last one :L

  • @thunderboba well no... listen to his explanation maybe?
