@coolcam262 On paper that is fine, you would have to be far enough away for the sound from Big Ben so that the sound of the first chime, didn't make it to the listener until the third chime. However, I think that that is simply too far away to hear the bell very well. I might be wrong though.
how can u people be so stupid it was a test to make big ben ring 13 times an it did because speed of sound is slower then the radio wave that all the test was i congratz that guy he has more brains then any of u put 2gather now take ur fingers out ur asses an congrat the man well done dude :)
I doubt it very much that the guy in this video worked it out. They nicked the idea from Captain Scarlet, 'Big Ben Strikes Again'. It was a lot more entertaining than this too.
recorded? of course it's only twelve chimes. with the radio there are only twelve chimes, and without the radio there are only twelve chimes. it's only both with and without the radio that we HEAR thirteen chimes, despite there being only twelve. it would make more sense if you could hear both of them independently and simultaneously, during which the first radio chime would be alone and the second radio chime would be concurrent with the first non-radio chime.
@thunderboba They didn't record it, I don't know why they're so excited though it's very simple physics.... All you have to do is know that Big Ben... I'm going to make a video response to explain it
@millsy1804 this is a very VERY rude comment why can't you be polite - Children read those comments as well we should not teach them to swear - got it you uneducated person !
@MingaMadl They should be 13 or older to be using youtube. If you as a parent don't want your kids around this, then keep them off of youtube. there are much, much, worse out there
@Caead Well strickly speaking they heard every chime twice. It's just that they heard them out of sync. They should've stood half the distance that they did and then they would've heard 24 chimes and twice as fast! : )
@grubbg001 I made a mistake, it was actually Captain Scarlet (created by Gerry Anderson who did Thunderbirds too) from the episode 'Big Ben strikes again'.
i knew how this was done as soon as that walkie-talkie was put down
cultmiester 5 days ago
fake. the first 'dong' you filmed on the actual big ben, and then went straight back to the walcky talky.. fakefakefakefake!

Not really that impressed albeit i have seen some amazing physics experiments in the past which frankly undermine this representation of sound lag.
Would be useful to kids doing their GCSEs who would be learning this
