To be clear there is nothing in the US constitution that precludes any state from secession nor in US Law...nor could it be prevented except by force. "That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government" so lets get on with secession already!

Yep, it states what they can't do.

Doesn't state what they can do.

However:

'The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.'

The right to secede is not prohibited by the Constitution, nor is it delegated to the United States. Thus it is a right reserved to the states, or to the people.

Thus the supreme court ruling goes directly against the Constitution.

We can if the contract (Constitution) has been made void by it being broken.

It was made void when habeas corpus was suspended in the War for Southern Independence.

It was made void in 1934 when a law was passed restricting the American citizen's right to purchase and bear arms (Yes, a machine-gun is an arm)

It was made void when the states right to secede was made "illegal".

It was made void when the 16th president took on "wartime" powers.

The states have no obligation to this nation anymore.

If said people decide to leave a socalled organization what would be the benefit of forcing them to remain in said organization against their will? If it was about slavery easy solutoin compensate the slave owners or put them in a financial position where it is to their benefit. Things like slavery don't require massive violence to fix.
