Why are you settling between 2 mediocre universities? UH is surrounded by a very bad neighborhood. Once you get past Scott and Elgin, you want to carry protection.
Go to UT or A&M. Both have WAY BETTER academics, athletic programs, and traditions. If you can't get in to either, then Tech is the way to go. UH is a commuter school. Most of their students are Houston Native, which means there is less extra curricular activity. Just look at the empty seats during football and basketball games.
I agree with UH being a commuter school, but they are moving in the right direction to remove this. As far as academics, it all depends on what the student is interested in; UH can definitely beat both UT and A&M in areas and vice-a-versa.
What people fail to realize or acknowledge is the ridiculous amount of funding those two schools receive over all other academic institutions in the state. With that type of funding, any school can do well.
